Mad respect for the gentlemen in this video. The way they took their time putting everything together is very satisfying. This boat is lucky to have you guys.
Yes, they was great. My father had one in his old boat. When fishing in calm weather and you found a good spot, you could steer against the wind and ocean current, set it on the lowest rpm - something that feels like 2 stroke pr. Min, and the boat stayed there. I visited the Sabb factory around mid 80 with my technical school class. They didn’t made any engines more by their own brand back then, but still parts for them.
It is very encouraging to see you bring this old engine back to life. Thank you! I have an old Volvo MD1B in my 1973 Fisksatra Havsfidra 6m sloop that still runs, but I have no idea of its condition. I bought the boat last year in Santa Cruz Harbor, CA USA, and I got it started by the dyna-motor-starter and only had to motor it 1/4 Km to the boatyard travel lift, then onto the trailer and drive it back down the coast to Ventura Harbor, CA to my shop. I have a feeling the cooling water was not working well, as it got up to 88 C. Later I saw the raw water inlet was blocked a little, but It was exciting to see it run the boat after all these years. First I’m refitting the boat, then will get to the engine. They are such a simple engine. I hope I can restore it to be reliable again… Thanks again for a great video!
Its a wonderful thing to watch a master at work.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!

This engine was made in my hometown Bergen. Had one myself many years ago. Plain bulletproof😊
Yes! We’re quite happy with it. As a funny coincidence the old man was in Bergen in the same year this engine was built :)

it should be Ciclo Continuo by Boone River, we picked it up from Epidemic Sound. Thanks for stopping by!
I guess there is no way to use a coupling which has some flexibility to allow some a small amount of misalignment? Very little space to play with.
That Micky Mouse coupling isn't going to last.
