k1torrance.clu... pretty intense race as we tried to squeeze the maximum from the karts. adapted to my kart handling just at the second part of the race. enjoyed
there are some key moments after adapting to a bit understeering kart - almost not using a steering wheel for turning in the hairpin using a rotation momentum of braking 4:075:035:316:28 (pretty common for the majority of karts) , - hard counter steering in the turn 7. also doing a quick light tap on the brakes at the same time 5:115:406:086:36 . on a good handling kart you don't need to counter steer that hard in turn 7. that's a really cool thing about Torrance that all karts are pretty different from handling perspective and require some brain re-puzzling
Thanks for these tips. I went to Torrance after watching your video and shaved 1.5 seconds off of my previous best! I was able to do a 28.185s with a very understeery kart thanks to your tips.
Just seeing this for the first time now and wow, you're insane, I'm trying to get into the 28s and i'm so glad i came across this video, by rotation momentum of braking do you mean trail braking (like you're on throttle and brake at the same time)? And if so, i'm assuming brake comes on as you turn right?
Hi Dennis, I've heard that after reaching 1500 points, the engine power increases. Is this true for the Torrance location? I also saw online that some people mentioned you need to ask the staff to increase the power manually. Could you please confirm if the engine power automatically increases after 1500 points or if we need to request it from the staff? Thanks!
@@DenisShakhovsky since the two months I started coming to k1 a lot and I can constantly throw down a 28.6-29.5 just depending on the kart. I know I can work on carrying more speed through the hairpins but was wondering if you had any tips on hitting a 28.5 and below
Hi @Michael Donatucci . you can find key things in my another comment to a current video. try late braking in the hairpin and do quick tap brake in the turn #7 for helping turning the kart into the corner. it's important to keep a tight line in the turn #7. it's important to do a quick tap brake just to not slow down but give a rotation momentum. also try to do a hot lap thing where you go really wide for one lap for getting more speed before crossing a start line and then close a lap by going tight before crossing a finish line. also try to copy the line from the video in general
@@DenisShakhovsky appreciate it, I’ve been doing the hot lap thing after they slow everyone down. I’m going to work on the light tap of the breaks into turn 7 because I’ve been fluttering the gas (depending on kart acceleration)
I raced you a couple of months ago and you were insane. I raced today and I actually beat a f1 racer which was pretty cool, as a young racer I’m thinking of getting into actual racing . My fastest lap time is around28.7 you think that’s good?
i would say it's one of the key things in karting. you have to find as late brake point as possible where the kart starts rotating by itself with a minimum input from the steering wheel. at a certain point of aggressive braking, the track becomes like "ice". it's like you initiate the entry with a micro-drift. it does behave so at the time when it's on the edge of drifting but not yet. just because it's on the edge - it might be tricky to find and feel this point at first. as everything has to be connected at the time - the speed, the steering flick at the right timing of braking with the right brake pressure. and also the kart. the more understeery the kart - the more difficult it is to do this. the leaning is also one of the keys. keep your posture straight or even lean to the outside a bit. it will help you to carry more momentum through the corner without losing the rear (without drifting). as you lean to the outside, the rear gets connected better. also your feel of the kart gets way better. that's what makes it addictive - finding the edges. they make driving effortless as you make your kart turn with the other inputs rather than using just the steering wheel. and when the track has so many kart variations (from shitty to good) - it makes it more fun to drive as you have to find how to handle the kart in a better way. of course on a bad kart you won't be able to get same times as on a good one. but you need to find how to squeeze the maximum from the kart. it counts during the "king of speed" events when you drive the same karts as your opponent.
I'm glad to see they allow GoPro now.
they always do for the GP

For turn 7 where you tap brake, do you hit the gas right after?

Hi Eric. From my knowledge you need to ask for speed 4
@@DenisShakhovsky Thanks for the info! I went above 1500 today and I did feel the car run faster! Successfully got into the weekly rank.🙏🙏
Raced against you last night in the final race, your race lines are clean
I just race a lot. here is a link to your times k1torrance.clubspeedtiming.com/sp_center/RacerHistory.aspx?CustID=NDIyMjEwNg==
