If you're even thinking if DECLAWING your precious kitty...DON'T HAVE A KITTY! How would you like living without YOUR knuckles? PLEASE KEEP YOUR CATS INDOORS. DECLAWING IS A CRIMINAL ACT & SHOULD HAVE CONSEQUENCES! Cats cannot be cats without their claws.
We don't even let our house cat outside at home and we didn't declaw her. And one of the reasons is she's a little bit of an escape artist and about 3 or 4 times she's managed to get out when we didn't realize it and stay outside for a couple hours before we found her. I'm not sure she's much of a fighter but at least we wanted to have a chance when that happens.
They only declawing I would do, is for my polydactyl... and for him not me.. bc he would like to knead stuff but gets hung up.. and where he has no control of his thumb claws (and the extra ones) he gets hung on everything.. but I would only remove the extra ones that are always out that he can't retract.
