There's a reason Americas modern military strategy hinges on air supremacy. It originated as a response to the Soviet Unions Cold War strategy of overwhelming tank forces supported by heavy arty. The expectation if World War 3 hit was a heavy tank push from the Soviets over the Fulda Gap. So the response strategy was to win air supremacy and let attack helis and fast movers hopefully annihilate the Soviets while NATO forces could still stop and bottle up the armor on the ground before they could overwhelm the ground defenses. It's been the general military strategy of the U.S. to this day. Engage the enemy then call for support.
For someone who can successfully sim as a Sub & Surface Fleet Commander & impress as a sim pilot in a range of aircraft, you’re hilariously abysmal at driving that thing 😂 every tree that was remotely close got rammed as if they owed you money! Thoroughly entertaining 😁
Excellent! Civilians always think "army" units are nothing but tanks; reality, of course, is much, much different. Lots of trucks, for one thing, and recon vehicles like the BRDM, especially in the "pre-satellite eyes everywhere" era. And getting "rained on" by 14.5 rounds could indeed be a bit disconcerting to the crew of an M-60. Thanks again for posting a well-balanced, fact-filled, and fun vid!
I don’t know if you know this but the BRDM has 7.62 coax mg for infantry so you don’t use up all of your 14.5 which is intended to be used on lightly armored vehicles. ( 7:25 )
Videos like this always make me daydream about a future game that’s DCS helo fidelity, Gunner HEAT PC AFV’s, and ARMA/Squad-like milsim infantry gameplay combined. Flying an Mi-24P/V, dropping off counter-recon team. I wonder how long until something like that is a reality? 20years? 40years? I hope to be playing that shit while in hospice 50yrs from now.
Does anyone call a BRDM a "burr-dumm". I swear I read that in an 80's techno-thriller (Tom Clancy or Harold Coyle), or it was in the player's manual for Microprose's "Gunship" Apache simulator for the Commodore 64. Hours of fun playing that game. I'm old now, and all I do now is remember all of the misinformation Tom Clancy fed me when I was a youth. He had me convinced that the Abrams tank could do 60 mph on the Audobahn if you removed the governor from the engine. It's in "Red Storm Rising". The US Army tank commander with whom I eventually shared that little tidbit thought I was a gullible idiot. Have a blessed day!

Just discovered this game from your videos, and so far it seems amazing, thanks. Got a question though - are you playing it with keyboard and mouse or some other setup? And if with keyboard, do you use the default keybinds? I ask because the default binds seem terrible, and I'm trying to come up with a better layout for them. Or just map the whole thing to my hotas, but not sure if aiming accuracy will be good enough that way...
9:14 LMAO.... The enemy had the same go into the woods idea only their way meant parts of you wouldn't be getting there at the same time or be in the same woods........
It's a recon vehicle with no smoke grenades (just engine smoke screen generators), no AT capability, no thermals or optics besides binoculars, and it lacks the engine power to climbs hills despite also somehow having no armor... The Russians must have been more drunk than usual when they designed that shitbox.
For it's role at the time they weren't that bad actually, they did the job of being able to quickly scout enemy positions and get out without being seen. They weren't intended to engage in combat and thus lack a lot of traditional capabilities like smoke, AT capabilities, or advanced optics (Later BRDM-2 variants got some of these). Something like the Bradley on the other hand is designed to scout enemies + engage in combat at the downside of being less maneuverable and much easier to spot. The US Army used jeeps to scout enemy positions during this time which isn't too different to what the Soviets were doing
In the 1980s, combat simulators were shown in hypothetical combat scenarios in Eastern Europe. Today, it is a tactical computer game for civilians. Reconnaissance units are not exposed to direct combat with enemy forces.
@JackManiacky ghpc is a vehicle focused game so if there are dismounted scouts they will be AI controlled. You can man emplaced weapons like tow and spg-9 though.
the very positive steam reviews say other wise also the road-map is not finished and yet you're expecting a mission editor maybe i don't know LET THEM FINSH THE GAME FIRST
The west isn’t invincible. Love these vids west or east gameplay. Please keep uploading man. Beautiful work on every series you do. I prefer the submarine/naval/air stuff myself. But who doesn’t love GHPC.

‘And there’s my friend..’
Crashes into tree ‘friend’ and fellow BRDM flips in jealousy!
10:28 - "Record screeches"
"Hello comrades, you must be wondering how we have gotten into this position."
That reminds me of Beach head 2002
Attack helicopters are a menace in this game
Attack helis tend to be that for any armored unit.
@@ilarilwhen I he aa capability of the enemy is gone, and cas can be a menace

With infantry in the game, I wonder if you'll eventually be able to send dismounts forward to scout, rather than risk the whole vehicle.
Wolfpack345: Valodya what you doing?

🤓🤓
Starfighter doing air to ground. There is a reason the pilots called it the Widowmaker. Props to those Lockheed salesmen tho.
The Germans made them into ground attack aircraft
It was bribery 😅
Its called widowmaker bc it performed poorly and killed their pilots by falling out of the skies.
I love the post-battle shot analysis feature. This game is the SIMNET we were promised in 1993.
Is that the same simnet i waspromised in the 80s 😂

That was SUPPOSED to be what Combined Arms was envisaged but we see how that worked out.
Hahahaha your ally rolling over checked me up
"assist in destroying the enemy..." meanwhile your best gun can't take out a tree
For the record, attack helicopters are a menace IRL

Отличная работа сержант ! Полковник выражает благодарность и выписывает увольнительную в город.
There are no voicelines in brdm but in tanks like t-80 there are
And the voicelines are really immersive!
I hate attack helos in this game they are such a pain. Nice vid.
Always enjoy watching your adventures! Damn I jumped too when that round landed close. Look forward to seeing more!

This game feels a lot better now than 2 years ago.

You need to get his Driver's license.😅😂🎉
@8:00 Do a barrel roll to avoid enemy missiles, Fox!

CAS, yeah, that's what I want my tank game. That's why I totally didn't stop playing warthunder.
These game I dont have yet but I watch here to see evolution.
They should have called this game "Pucker Factor Simulator".

Is there a custom scenario mode on this? Like arma has, that would be cool.

Hey boss! the background music is the game's soundtrack or your own carefully synced free of rights' spices?
Thanks for the great content.

...And the ability to rollover like a dog.
BRDMs in post soviet countries are mainly in police regiments as I noticed, for to scare rioters.
For it's role at the time they weren't that bad actually, they did the job of being able to quickly scout enemy positions and get out without being seen. But it was cheap.
I played this scenario a number of times. The one time I got the Mi-24s to engage I accidentally rolled my BRDM and lost. Too much vodka, I guess.
Good work Comrade WolfPack345. 🇷🇺
I wanted to sneak thru the forest but got clipped and stuck on the trees
Are these created scenarios or part of the game?
From watching Rambo 3, I thought tanks always took down Hinds.
They killed 2 out of 4 in this video
This games needs to be multiplayer
That would ruin it likely for most people enjoying a non hardcore Sim, given the industry already forcing us into multiplayers
@@nighthawk1508 No-one is forced to play multiplayer games 😅

What?
Um... yes, yes they do.
Your about to run over the haybale and you turn away your pov 😢😢😢
interesting
You need to put 'video game' or something in your title.
Can you dismount and scout on foot?
Not yet. I don't think it's been mentioned by the devs but it's possible
@JackManiacky ghpc is a vehicle focused game so if there are dismounted scouts they will be AI controlled. You can man emplaced weapons like tow and spg-9 though.
You are Reconnisance, why are you engaging?
Recon by fire

What does the roadmap have to do with that?
I tried the game. Clunky. And very little content. Honestly more fun to watch then play
