Love her, and the times: No tattoos, metal on the tongue and nostrils. Great voice, beautiful.
God this is so 1960s. Just fantastic. They don't make music this good anymore. The orchestra arrangement is incredible. Listen to the tambourines. Gotta crank this on head phones.. I remember driving with my family going upstate Ny to a resort and hearing the bf goodrich commercial, its the radial age.
Great and Hall of Fame singers like Petula Clark don't exist any more. Thanks Petula!!
This makes me so nostalgic that I almost feel like crying - I was in high school and we used to play songs like this at slumber parties - good times!!!!
That bass trombone on the intro is so incredibly badass!!! Gives me chills!
Wonderful song. Wonderful artist. Pure perfection
Pop music was much better in the 60s and 70s than it is today. 😊
This song never gets old. Wish music could be this good today. Absolute perfection.
GREAT SOUND QUALITY, THE BEST I'VE EVER HEARD!!!!!!!!
Thank you.
PETULA singing this GREAT SONG on FANTASTIC STEREO takes me back to my Senior year in High School ! I loved this song back then and love it even more today ! THANK YOU MusicMike !!
The 60s and 70s are the two greatest decades there ever was for music
They sure were! Love the 60's & 70's.
I agree the Greatest 20 years for Music 🎵🎶🥁....We Had It All
Lovely, this stereo version is brilliant ❤🇬🇧 ❤
The best!
Almost any song from 1966 is great to hear again! Something about those mid-'60s songs that were among the best I've heard. Maybe it has to do with the writers, the incredible talent who sings them, the era itself when most of us were in our mid-teens and had that optimism about the future, and how they were original songs, instead of old repeats.
Hello my limey friends, too bad we had a disagreement a few centuries ago, but lets move forward. Thank you for bringing us the Beatles, The Searchers, many more and of course, "Pet" Clark. Every kid on my block had the hots for her. Great sounds. This has been a great century. GPM-53.
In one Petula Clark album......... she knows a place, goes downtown, rounds every corner, colors your world, and can't live without your love. What a great album!! This sure was a sign of the times back then
To Mr Bozek : Sir, yes it was back then. Sadly, we thought it would always be that way, just like TV back then. ---------Sad.-----------------it's all gone. -------------------------------WolfSky9, 74 y/o
and we also have to be grateful to Tony Hatch for writing all those great songs for her!
@@racketman2u And don't forget Jackie Trent who wrote some truly amazing lyrics for Petula.
The three of them made such an impact on the music scene that the drummer on one of Petula's hits told Petula and Tony that "I am too nervous to play on your record."
"Why?" They both asked.
The drummer replied "because I don't think I can make your London sound."
They had called the unique Petula Clark,Tony Hatch,Jackie Trent music The London Sound.
How cool was that?
My mom had this album and I remember the cover. I thought Petula was so pretty when I was 5. Really enjoyed hearing this.
I never get tired of hearing this.
Boy, you're not the only one! :D
Beautiful British accent, just perfect
My favorite, Petula is like no other!
I Love Petula....She is Beautiful ❤️...Her Voice Too
A masterful mix, Michael!!!!!! They don't make 'em like this anymore. Listen to that little hum she improvises just before the bridge - incomparable
What a beautiful song! ❤
It's one of the best. Love itl👍😊
There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in todays music that can even remotely hold a candle to this!!! Its a terrible shame the path music has taken. I'm soooo glad I grew up in the 60s with classic music like this. Thank Goodness we have OUR great memories of a better time!!!
Pet Clark was a beautiful British lass and she had a lolvely voice. i just love music. DownTown was another great hit by this wonderful british songstress
Excellent sound quality. Petula Clark's 'A Sign Of The Times' shines. Thank you, Mike.
Thanks for listening
Great stereo of 'Sign Of The Times' by the one and only Pet Clark!
Lovely voice and great song. Another reason I am glad the British Invasion happened!
TOOK MY MOM TO SEE HER IN ATLANTIC CITY YEARS AGO AND WE ENDED UP BACK STAGE TALKING TO PETULA FOR AN HOUR SHE TRULY IS ONE OF THE GREATEST SUPERSTARS OF ALL TIME AND KNOCKED THE BEATLES OFF THE TOP OF THE CHARTS WITH DOWNTOWN.
Holy crap! I saw Pet in Vegas, early '90s, I believe.....if I'd-a known it might have been possible to go back'n'chat, I might-a tried!! Good for you!
And she knocked the Beatles off the top with My Love as well.
Petula Clark is THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF ALL TIME.
My Love also took the Beatles out of #1.
Petula's music was so uplifting. A true sign of the good times of yesteryear!!
Great, great, great !
great production
This is what great pop sounded like. A dead art.
I was only in third grade when this song first came out. It's still a great song 48 years later.
Love Petula
thank you Mike what a great pick-me-up!I hope people who own this kind of music keep it alive forever! I can't wait for my 6 yr. old grandaughter to hear what I heard at 6yrs. old.
Sounds a heck of a lot better than what I used to hear on my little pocket AM transistor radio back in the mid 60s.
Yes, but our EARS were better then.
This is the music of my childhood right here! It still sounds great today in 2018!
And it still sounds great as we get close to 2019. In fact, in the spring, I am taking some cassette tapes of the weekend oldies shows that I taped off of the Philadelphia radio stations back in the early 90's with me to Miami, San Francisco, Honolulu, and Los Angeles. I don't leave Philly without that Philly sound!
Unfortunately, I made a change in my trip plans for the spring. I am not going to Miami. But I'm still going to San Francisco, Honolulu, and Los Angeles with my cassette tapes at hand. I don't leave Philly without that Philly sound.
Jim Nesta THIS MIGHT BE TRUE BUT WOULDNT YOU GIVE ANYTHING TO BE BACK THERE AGAIN WITH THAT 2 DOLLAR POCKET RADIO?
Love those horns.
Great song
Love this women always and forever her music is timeless! Thank you UK!
How could your day not get better when listening to this song? Pet Clark had that magic. Today's music could use a dose of it.
Hey love this song 😁😁
What a great song & a beautiful Petula 🎶 💋 💃💃💃💚
Memories of me at age 5 riding on back of My Dads 1969 Blue Ford Station Wagon, sooo Happy and Free!
Happy Blessings to You All!
✌🏼😎🦄🍭✨🌈☮️🍄🍒🤭
Pumpkin Girl i’m the same age as you Pumkin Girl .. the mid 60’s is the soundtrack to my childhood !
It just doesn't get any better than this! Pet Clark's beautiful voice, coming back to us across the divide of a half-century has become even more poignant and powerful with the passage of time. What a class act!
Kudos to Music Mike for sharing this superb sounding LP - this is the best way to listen to Petula.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@MusicMikeFlashbackFavorites Oh it's sooo good !
PROOF (as if it were needed, and believe you me it ISN'T') that....
PETULA CLARK IS WITHOUT ANY DOUBT WHAT SO EVER THE GREATEST FEMALE VOCALIST OF ALL TIME.

Listen to this with the headphones on, great audio on this one.
Michael Riecher just what I was doing!
Concur. When my parents bought a stereo set they also bought headphones; this was circa 1970. When I hear this song now it takes me back to my youth.
SUPER DIVA OF THE 60'S P E T U L A C L A R K no one does it better.
Well, there was her friend Dusty Springfield. She was pretty good too. :-)
@@billlew8840 ...No Comparassion...Joe D....
What a Great Song of the 60's 😉👍
beautiful !
I love her songs.
thank you music mike.
You're welcome
It's a sign of the times
That your love for me is getting so much stronger
And I know that I won't have to wait much longer
You've changed a lot somehow
From the one I used to know
For when you hold me now
I feel like you never want to let me go
That you call me up whenever you feel lonely
That you tell your friends that I'm your one and only
I'll never understand
The way you treated me
But when I hold your hand
I know you couldn't be the way you used to be
Maybe my lucky star
At last decided to shine
Maybe somebody knows
How long I've waited to make you mine
That you kiss me now as if you really mean it
And a year ago I never could have seen it
Don't ever change your mind
And take your love away
Just leave the past behind
And, baby, only think of how it is today
She hit it out of the ballpark with this one she was really a great singer 1964 1966
Mikes Musical Flashbacks+
My mom had this album
Back in 1965 she played it contantly it takes me back to when I was 1 year old in the back of my mom's second beauty shop in
Crystal Beach Ontario Canada
Thank you mike for the memory
Another song i loved by her was
Called "This Is My Song"
The album cover shows her
Walking on a street wearing a
Black coat
yes, me too!!! Used to Dance at the Sock hops in 66./67/68 in high school. Remember dancing to this tune and everyone's bio-rythems were going 100 miles per hour!!! AH! the growing up years, you just got to love it
My vinyl copy melted, in the trunk of my car, in the Nevada desert, driving cross country in the 70's
Being black, male and liking this singer, I got teased so much. This is real music.
Glad you like her and stuck to your opinion. Why is it that black people get "teased" about liking a white singer....but it's OK for a non-black person to like a black singer? What damn difference does it make? If a singer is good.....they're good....and should be appreciated. End of story.
That's all right BQ. I was 7 when Downtown came out. I was a south side Black kid enjoying Petula just as much as the Temptations. You had to look real hard to actually find bad music back then. I stuck to my guns too!! Love my pop music!!
You're totally correct on this MusicMike, this sounded amazing!!
I loved old music like this .it's perfect of music listening everyday.
...the eight -track tape cartridge that was the source of the Petula Clark music was recovered ,miraculously intact ,and authorities said that the next song on that "greatest hits album" that was about to play on the loudspeaker of the camper was the song "It's A Sign of the Times" !! How prophetic is that ??!!
An Angle !!! A heavenly voice !!!
A true 60's icon, Petula Clark. Thanks for bringing this to us Mike. Absolute stellar sound. I sure miss my own vinyl collection after getting a glimpse of the stuff on the shelves behind you. Keep bringing it Mike...it's ALL good! Mike from Canada
My favorite Petula Clark Song
My ear buds are literally getting hot listening to this full blast. they are actually HOT. Very strange!
This song blew me away as a 13 year old kid, just starting to listen to top 40 radio in the spring of 66. This song still gets my juices going all those years later.
One of those fine songs of the middle sixties and I recall I liked so much to hear Petula Clark singing.
CBS Sunday Morning recently did a profile of her, she is 85 years old and still touring.
What a treat to hear this! And to see the disc playing, a step back in time. Love it..
Yes, MusicMike, I really agree ,this recorded version really is one of , if not THE best sound recorded version of this song sung magnificently by Petulia Clark.
Everything comes out shining here, especially the horns ,instruments and Petulia's lovely voice!!
Thanks MusicMike2 !!!
I think this is one of the greatest pop tunes of all time!
Agree! BTW, are you Tony's son?
No, I wish I was.....lol
And not a bad little car commercial either.
I got that album. Thanks to one of my sons who gave me one of those "old time" record player/radio/CD player, I can still play that album and all the other wonderful albums I kept.
I could listen to that song all day 🤩
What a great sound! Love Petula Clark!
Thanks Petula for this incredible song from my teen years! My hats off to George Reeves as Superman and Noel Neill as Lois Lane. This song reminds me of this couple.
My favorite song recorded by her.
The stereo quality on this is mind blowing!
My cousin Ray gave me a ride home from school in the pouring rain driving his parents '59 Galaxie and I remember marveling at how his windshield wipers were keeping time with this great new song. I was 9.
I"ve always loved this song and this wonderful women of the sixty's.
Thank you music mike, i was 19 years old when this song came out, it was well played in jamaica (west indies) loved it then still do today, all the best.

Kieron White, You Got That Right.....The Very Best...Joe D....
Hell yes, 1968 checking in here!
I agree 100%!
Nothing like growing up in the 60's......We changed the WORLD.......
I've got a C.D. of this song and I listen to it in my car a lot.
clear voice !!!
Talented and beautiful!
A treat for the ears and eyes.
This is the epitome of the grand and glorious music of my formative years. Pet Clark rocks--the first female voice of the British Invasion. She always takes me to my happy place. For all the joy her talent has contributed to the world, I wonder why she has never been officially honored by her Queen!
Dame Petula Clark! 👍
She received a CBE way back in 1998. A CBE is one step down from a Damehood but is often a stepping stone to the higher award. That was 22 years ago! It would seem she has ruffled the feathers of some people in high places to never get the honour.
It really is a happy place. And room for any and everyone.
Those were the days, you didn't have to wait five years for new music from your favorite artists.
MIX OF EXCELLENCE!!!
love your music.thank you arthur.
I love this song! I have this on one of her albums I bought waaaay baaaack. That's a LONG TIME AGO!
I was 11 years old and got my parents to let me join a record club. A bunch of albums for 99 cents (and buy ??? more at full price - then quit and join again later!). I think this one was sent to me as the record of the month. I wore it out. So many great songs and such a wonderful voice. Thanks!
