- This is the first part in a series of tutorials covering how to use BJB Enterprises' filled Urethane TC1630. This covers making a core to sculpt onto for use with creating a facial prosthetic out of any material.
Correction: Haylee from BJB has advised that there are no metal fillers in TC1630, that it is straight silica. I mentioned that it had metal fillers in the video as that was my understanding... apparently that was incorrect. Thanks Haylee for letting me (and anyone watching this video) know :)
You are seriously God Sent. You don't even know how much your videos have helped me! I just left the military and have been doing SFX work on the side for six years. What I would give to be able to go to school but they are so far away. I have a true passion for this work and real artist like you doing real videos that show how to correct mistakes are litterally non existent. So thank you so much for taking the time to make these for monster makers to follow! Please don't stop doing what you do because one day I want to be like you.
Servingface thanks so much for the kind words. It means a lot, truly. I don’t do these videos for money (I don’t even have 200 subscribers yet) but more to try to give concise detailed information on these techniques so people can really learn. I have been told by many people that my videos are all too long... that if I want a lot of views I need to shorten them to under 20 minutes. I don’t think you can adequately cover these things in a 15-20 minute video. Maybe I will end up doing these in 3 parts.... I don’t know. I am appreciative of those who let me know how much they like what I am doing. :)
Thank you for this! Extremely useful information, I appreciate you making these videos!
Chelsea Harbert you’re welcome
thank you very much for this video! I seem to be getting into vfx (which, honest to god, i did not mean to! I've always loved them and I had an experience recently where I criticized a high budget prosthetic makeup job and a lot of people defended it with the same argument over and over that thought was nonsense. Figured I could do better and after a month and a half of planning it looks like i'm going full madman on this project haha) and its turning out really hard to find good information for free online. And its gotta be free because I'm pretty broke! Thank you for making this art more accessible.
Glad you find my videos informative Jaymes. Best of luck on your new hobby. It is expensive but very fulfilling.
Just a small FYI... VFX is short for Visual Effects. This refers to CGI style work. The abbreviation you want for special effects is SFX. It is a small thing but you don't want people being confused. :)
Hello thanks for your video that is a lot of information because I-am looking at going into vacuum forming and looking how to make molds because I am into carnival costume designs in this great job you are good because lots of people don’t share all that information
Thank you so much for this!! So helpful. Quick question, did you use any release on the silicone? Or was there no need for it? Also, can you use polyfiber instead of cabosil?
I sometimes use a mold release but it is mosty not necessary. It will however prolong the life of your mold if you do. I have never used polyfiber with TC1630 so I cannot answer that.
ok cool, thanks for that! I am currently watching the matrix mold vid haha they are great!
Did you say that tc-1630 has metal powder in it? Is it conductive?
Don Davis I did say that, but if you read the video description I have actually corrected that as a friend from BJB contacted me to advise it is not actually metal powder.
