- Someone asked how strong the Gates Carbon Belt is on our Blade 2.0 and Babymaker II Electric bikes. We had to put it to the test ourselves. Join for the fun as we push the belt of this commuter eBike to its limits. 😅

What should we test next?
Test: Can a Babymaker tow two bikes with riders up a hill?
With respect to the Gates Carbon Belt itself ... how easy is it to cut? Same snips as needed for a cheap cable lock? More? Should I carry a spare in case done thief can’t steal the bike and decides to take out his frustration in the belt?
Great suggestion!
It is a rubber belt so any strong pair of sheers could cut it. But then again, what would they do with a broken belt haha
FLX Bike - They can’t do anything with the belt of course. But a frustrated thief could cut the belt out of spite, rendering the bike unrideable. Replacement belts cost what, about $70 ea?
you guys have too much fun. Cant wait to try the Babymaker... I am securing flights to SD from TX to come try it and maybe assemble a few with you guys. Happy to support the campaign!
Hey Jeff we can't wait to have you, come on by!
Hey Guys, thanks for making the video on the belt. This is definitely an unique way to respond to a question. Can you provide some details though on the specs of this. Like the situation you are demonstrating is not necessarily representative of riding the bike for 2000-5000 miles. Do you know what the life expectancy of the belt drive belt is? What would be the cost of replacing it?
Thanks! Keep up the imagination. Really liking it. Would be great to add to this a technical aspect so the nerds like myself who would rather have also numbers are fully engaged as well.
Great quistions ! - durability would be interesting babymaker guys
There are many videos on YT discussing the robustness of various Gates Carbon Belts. Short answer is YMMV. A lot depends on how you ride and the conditions you ride in.
The Belts should last several thousand miles. Here is a video of our co-founder Pete and his 3500km journey across Europe he took on his Babymaker: ruclips.net/video/zRL-ltWecsE/видео.html
The belt will be relatively inexpensive to replace if something does happen to it.
@@superhumanbikes where I can find spare belt, if my belt would broke?
looks like there is a "guard" on the pink bike at the start of your video. That's GREAT.
Thanks so much!
So the bike is not shipping until October? The weather is so great right now.
If we could get them out any sooner we would.
Very strong curious if we will be getting smoooooth welds on the PRO bike.
Yes, the bike will come with smooth welds.
When they get built Team FLX can you pit the 350W model VS the 250W model in a comparison video please 🙏
I'm talking acceleration test, stop test, hill climb test, range test, the whole shebamg tyvm 🙇
We'll see what we can do.

Thanks 👍
I wish the first gen was that strong mine is still broken and I can’t fix it
Please send an email into hello@flx.bike and we will see what we can do to help you out.
OK, but don't use that particular belt on my bike, please!
Don't worry we won't.
How aggressive are the tires?
The production Babymaker has a 700x28C tire. Tires up to 700x32C should be fine.
@@superhumanbikes how does this bike do on rough trails? I'd like to see a vid on it. I love shredding trails.
How comfortable is the seat?
It's a standard bikes seat you would find on most road bikes.
Will there be a belt guard on the right side so we don't get our pant leg caught on the belt sprocket?
There will not be a belt guard on the bike.
and a bolt cutter ?
If someone cuts the belt, what are they going to do with it?
Lift Vanessa!
Haha we'll see.
160lbs? That's all! I think you should test it while shirtless.
Haha I'll pass that along.
