Hi Emmy! The gummy sugar candies are called "bombones de fruta" and the triple cooking is called "alfajor" it has "dulce de leche" inside not caramel. The white one is called "alfajor santafesino" is a kind of alfajor tipical of my city, Santa Fe. I'm glad you like our treats! Take care! Florencia

I hope this helped you, and I really enjoyed watching you. Kind regards, Caro.
Hi Emmy wanted to say that the "Dulce de leche" Argentina is traditionally used generally to fill as you ate alfajores Guaymallen and other traditional cakes or desserts, but you can find it in bottles sold in supermarkets. I recommend you try it directly from the bottle, then tell me which is the feeling that you produce in you jej. I send a big hug from Chubut province of Argentina.

Emmy, I love watching your videos! I'm generally up late at night nursing my 7 month old daughter and even she loves listening to your voice, which is super soothing. I love watching you try all of these interesting foods!
Yes, I always pronounced it "bombiya" too, but I did a little research before making this video & found out that it's pronounced it differently in Argentina.
How is it that I just found out about you tasting our culture, Emmy?! That's amazing!!! I'm not a fan of mate myself, but our alfajores con dulce de leche are the BEST ♥ Lots of love from Buenos Aires, Em! :)
Translation of the poem! "Since I was a little boy My mother always told me to look for a little girl as pretty as you" It only rhymes in spanish though.
Hello, Bubaluba! I just watched your queso a la parilla episode (great Spanish practice for me.) :) Here in the US we'd call that a classic grilled cheese sandwich - yummy!
It's so weird watching you eat our candies, and it's really cute that you liked all of them a lot! I'm glad I'm not your only Argentinian fan :) I was thinking about sending you a package, but I think Martin did a great job. A few little comments: with the Dos Corazones you are supposed to give your loved one half of the candy bar, so each of you gets a heart :) I'm surprised you pronounced bombilla right! And the chocolate covered cookie sandwiches are called "Alfajor" .9
emmy, about the "medallón de menta aguila", spearmint it's more frecuent here than pepermint, so you're right. the gum drop are called "bombones de fruta" (fruit bombons) because they are maid of gelly and fruit juice. if you ask for "gomitas", they'll give you the harder ones artificially flavored. kids prefer the second kind. the poem says "since i was a little boy, my mommy teached me to find a beautiful little girl like you", they used to be better. the white thing inside is hard condensed milk and tell your friend he is a "ratón" (mouse), cause he bought you the cheapest alfajor brand. tell him to send you "capitán del espacio" or "terrabusi".
We always have a discusion with one of my friends: dos corazones' filling taste like banana to me! but in the package doesn't say anything about bananas...
Amy, you can drink the yerba mate as a "tea" you boil water with a generous amount of yerba on top (it stays floating) covering all the surface, ones it boils the water will cover the yerba, you need to quickly turn off the fire ones all the yerba is cover and before it overflow and then you put a bit of cold water so the yerba goes to the bottom and that's it, is called "mate cocido" (boiled mate or cooked mate) Sorry my bad english, i hope you can understand it
The first time I tried mate I found it horrible! but it eventually grows on you. Now I live in the US and still drink mate from time to time, and like it (with sugar). Received a mate gourd and yerba mate as a git recently from Argentina!
Not that I know of! :( Perhaps there aren't many Argentinians around here. I've purchased mate cocido on eBay and Amazon before, because the yerba mate is really expensive. Well, I don't really have it often, just from time to time and make it a special thing to bring back memories! Saludos desde Tampa!
Mami Santana Really? I live in Fort Lauderdale and it's very easy to find yerba mate here but only Taragui and I don't really like that brand. I prefer La Merced, that yerba is really amazing in second place is Rosamonte. ;D
Taragüí is really strong but you can mix it with different dry herbs to make it less bitter. I like to mix it with some peppermint. Yerba also can be mixed with coffee, orange or grapefruit zest or you can even burn some sugar in the bottom of the mate to highlight different qualities of the yerba. Also -just for etiquette purposes- the bombilla always has to face the person who is about to drink the mate, give the bombilla to the other side is considered rude in Argentina "Mate con la bombilla pa'trás pa' que no volvás"
Oh my gosh, I love your videos!!! I've just watched a marathon of 15 and I can't stop liking them. They're super informative, despite what a very few people believe
I'm from Chile and we share lots of candies with Argentina, bon bon are delicious! try the orange one! It is so nice to see you eating this because there are so many things about South America that people doesn't know. Thank you Emmy for doing this :)
I'm from Israel , but visited Argentina for almost 3 month, I think Argentinians need to send you another package... The best alfajores I had were havanna ,jorgito and cachafaz. The alfajor in the video is considered less better than ones i mentioned.
iusepol lol yes terere is really good with juice and ice or aswell with natural lemon juice!!! but only in summer lol coz if your not used to it and drink it in winter i think you might spend a whole day sat on the toilet lol :)
that poem says: When I was a little boy my mum teached me than I'll search a liitle girl so cute just like you. (in english hasn't rhyme)... it's like a child's poem.
Boil the yerba, strain it, and you have something that is more tea like. You can try the mate with chilled juice, warm milk, some people even put sprite in there. I'm so happy someone actually got you the whole set! Have fun, and enjoy! (and yes, mate and alfajores -the cookie thingies- are BBFs)
DosGordosEnMoto Hi dosGordos, There are litterally thousands of brands and types for alfajores, the most fancy traditionnal and delicious is called Havanna, I've seen them in Amazon. There's also a copycat brand called Cachafaz, tastes exactly the same as the Havanna, I've seen it in also in Amazon.Greetings from BA.
That's why it's expensive but the best :)
"Since I was a little boy I was taught by my smile that I should find a little girl as nice as you are" Ok actually it says something very similar but I tried to adapt it as a little rhyme not to loose the purpose of the sentence! What it really says: "Since I was little my smile taught me that I should look for a girl as pretty as you" Cheers from Argentina! PS: By the way, you should put 3/4 yerba in the mate, then shake it a bit with your hand on top in order to extract some of the dust that gives the mate a lot of unnecessary bitterness, then put the bombilla in it, and after all you can pour water on it near the bombilla. You should always try to incrementally pour hot water from the coldest to the hottest in order to avoid 'burning' the yerba.
Hello Emmy, I'm glad u liked Argentina, the caramel u say is called Dulce de Leche, which is basically made with milk and sugar cooked for a long time to give that brown color. I'll send you a jar asap, just tell me if you would like me to. Again, I'm glad u liked it and have a nice day
Besides being something personal, drinking mate is something that we do as a comunitty; there's nothing better than to drink some mates with friends or visitors. It's even a ritual for those who leave childhood, as some people say: When you drink a mate on your own, you are no longer a child. Besides mate, ALFAJORES are our best delicatessen and they're part of our childhood as we eat them at school during recess. Thank you for sharing a bit of our culture with the world. Love
We used to buy tons and tons of Lenguetazo back in school I guess it depends on the area you live in,Not all products are distributed in all 23 provinces equally :P
Hi Emmy! Mantecol is defenitely made out of peanuts! It is typical of Argentinians to eat it, but it's mostly eaten during the holidays, for Christmas and New Years', and not every single day. At least that's what we do in my family. Cofler is one of the many chocolate bar brands here, and they usually put stuff in their chocolate, hence the 'rocklets' which are kinda like m&m's, yeah. Another favourite is chocolate with peanuts and white chocolate. Alfajores are just amazing. It is mostly what you said, a similar crumbly mix that tastes like a cookie filled with Dulce de Leche (caramel). The ones Martin sent you (Alfajores Santafesinos) come from Santa Fe and are different from the ones made in other provinces, each place has their different recipe for the cookie (more crumbly, less crumbly, thinner, thicker, etc.) I'm glad you enjoyed eating my country!
Perfect preparation for a bitter mate, but the container is made of wood so you have to..we say "curarlo", which is leaving it full of wet yerba for a couple of days. I'm almost sure it helps the mate taste less like wood and more like yerba (:
there's a lot of argentian sweeties (candies) I love, their sweet potato jelly (canned)is amazing and I eat it with fresh cheese slices (it sounds crazy but is delicious)...Personally I think their chocolate based products are not too great, they have too much fat and sugar in them .... Yerba mate means "mate" herb, argentian people drink it everyday and all day long, it's addictive :) ... and finally, the problem with products sended by people to you as a gift, is you have to laud every one of them LOL
Emmy, you are our food ambassador to the world--you help everybody see what we have in common, and how we are different in our foods--that's good! And how we can enjoy each others cultures. Keep up great work.
I must say, any time I ever tried any sort of foodstuff out of Argentina, everything was eye watering delicious. Especially everything meat related. If you are a carnivore it will make you squeal of joy!
The gum drops are called "Bombones de Fruta", fruit bonbons. The fancy versions you can get in confiterias (bakeries where you can also buy cakes and pastries as well as fancy pastries and chocolate and fruit bonbons.) You can also get gum drops or gummy fruits already packaged in kiosks and supermarket but they are less fancy and more chewy than the fancy fruit bonbons. And Rocklets are so much nicer than M&Ms because they are real chocolate and not candy chocolate, if you know what I mean by that? Rocklets are a brand and we call those lentejas de chocolate / chocolate lentils. The filling for the Dos Corazones, I think we don't know what it is either! lol Alfajores are the best! And yes, sometimes dulce de leche tastes rhummy. The other alfajor you had is similar to a Mille-feuille cake in spirit with dulce de leche filling.
here in Argentina we drink mate when we study, when we travel, when we're with our friends, we like it so much we could invent any excuse to drink it. Some people like to add another types of herbs in order to add extra flavour and, there's also a wide variety of Yerba Mate wich have orange flavour, etc. the "container" it's called Mate, and it's a very serious thing in Argentina and very personal too. In my family each one of us has its own Mate and its own kind of Yerba Mate.
Hello! and greetings from Argentina! im Octavio Moyano and me and my family just saw this video (sorry we are late :P) im the son of the owner of that alfajor "las dos rosas" and we are so thankful you tried them! we didn't even knew one of our products made it so far! once again thank you so much, with love Argentina
HAY MUCHOS CHILENOS Y MEXIMONOS HACIENDOSE PASAR POR ARGENTINOS PARA HACERNOS QUEDAR MAL, SON ENVIDIOSOS Y RESENTIDOS, ASI QUE NO SE DEJEN GUIAR POR ESTOS COMENTARIOS SIN NINGUNA RAZON
the chocolate name is "two hearts (chocolate with poetry)" and the poem was something like "since I was a little boy my mommy taught me to look for a girl as pretty as you".
Emmy, and those who tried mate and like it, you should taste "Tereré".(It's originally from the Argentinian North) It has the same logic as Mate, but instead of hot water, you use very cold Orange juice. You won't be disappointed. Tereré is delicious, healthy, and helpfully at summer :D Best regards from La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina!
Emmy, thanks to you I have now seen most of the things that you have made on RUclips. and I love most of the food you have eaten also. :) without you I don't think I would of ever tired news things to eat!

and tell your friend he is a "ratón" (mouse), cause he bought you the cheapest alfajor brand. tell him to send you "capitán del espacio" or "terrabusi".
We always have a discusion with one of my friends: dos corazones' filling taste like banana to me! but in the package doesn't say anything about bananas...
lol ¿Será alguna indirecta? XD
No :P jajaja
+Gastón Acuña Rodriguez jajaja, cuchinote!!
Amy, you can drink the yerba mate as a "tea" you boil water with a generous amount of yerba on top (it stays floating) covering all the surface, ones it boils the water will cover the yerba, you need to quickly turn off the fire ones all the yerba is cover and before it overflow and then you put a bit of cold water so the yerba goes to the bottom and that's it, is called "mate cocido" (boiled mate or cooked mate)
Sorry my bad english, i hope you can understand it
The first time I tried mate I found it horrible! but it eventually grows on you.
Now I live in the US and still drink mate from time to time, and like it (with sugar).
Received a mate gourd and yerba mate as a git recently from Argentina!
That´s so great! Haven´t you got any market selling yerba in US? Greetings from Buenos Aires.
Not that I know of! :(
Perhaps there aren't many Argentinians around here.
I prefer La Merced, that yerba is really amazing in second place is Rosamonte. ;D
emxn. They sent me Cruz de Malta brand :)
I'm from Israel , but visited Argentina for almost 3 month,
I think Argentinians need to send you another package...
The best alfajores I had were havanna ,jorgito and cachafaz.
The alfajor in the video is considered less better than ones i mentioned.
I also had cold mate with orange juice and ice near the iguazu region. Nice!
iusepol lol yes terere is really good with juice and ice or aswell with natural lemon juice!!! but only in summer lol coz if your not used to it and drink it in winter i think you might spend a whole day sat on the toilet lol :)
Also Terrabusi
Malena Lara Terrabusi is One of the Less better alfajores, i preffer the guaymallen, but the best is Havanna
Juan Mendive Nah, Havanna is the best, then Terrabusi and guaymallle just tates like bad liquer.
This was a great Emmy Eats video! So many new and different snacks. Thanks for sharing, Martin and of course Emmy!
that poem says:
When I was a little boy
my mum teached me
than I'll search a liitle girl
so cute just like you.
Try it if you can - it's great.
y olee olee olee y olee olee olaa
I absolutely understand. :) This sounds like a good method for making a larger amount yerba mate - thank you.
when I was younger I had a friend from argentina and we ate alfajor and bonbons and they were soo good! anyone know a site I can order them from?
Do you remember alfajor's name? the bonbons are called "bon-o-bon", i saw them in amazon.
if you're in the U.S., should have some South American products store where you can find alfajor. and other things to.
Hi Pao, I like the alfajor called Balcarce(Mar del Plata), Cachafaz tastes good but havanna is too expensive..
Greetins!! :-)
That's why it's expensive but the best :)
"Since I was a little boy I was taught by my smile that I should find a little girl as nice as you are"
Ok actually it says something very similar but I tried to adapt it as a little rhyme not to loose the purpose of the sentence!
What it really says:
"Since I was little my smile taught me that I should look for a girl as pretty as you"
Cheers from Argentina!
PS: By the way, you should put 3/4 yerba in the mate, then shake it a bit with your hand on top in order to extract some of the dust that gives the mate a lot of unnecessary bitterness, then put the bombilla in it, and after all you can pour water on it near the bombilla. You should always try to incrementally pour hot water from the coldest to the hottest in order to avoid 'burning' the yerba.
not my smile, its my mom
no mi sonrisa, mi mamita
not my smile, my mummy
ingles?
Xtreme Arg Tampoco
Aww, thanks. Say 'hello' to your little one for me.
Hello Emmy, I'm glad u liked Argentina, the caramel u say is called Dulce de Leche, which is basically made with milk and sugar cooked for a long time to give that brown color.
I'll send you a jar asap, just tell me if you would like me to.
Again, I'm glad u liked it and have a nice day
It's an Oster electric tea kettle.
Love
Thanks Martin for showing some of our culture, though most of products are not very popular, like lengüetazo fiesta. This is the frst time I see it.
We used to buy tons and tons of Lenguetazo back in school I guess it depends on the area you live in,Not all products are distributed in all 23 provinces equally :P
Y la Vauquita??? Mas argentino que eso no hay!
La Vauquita....jajajaja, es verdad!
Yo pase mi infancia comiendo lenguetazo y asi quedaron mis dientes ._.
Yo me acuerdo de los lenguetazos. Faltaron algunas cosas igual....
Awesome! I watch your videos all the time! I'd had no idea that you made this!
Lots of love from Argentina :)
Great video!
I love your reactions to things I gave for granted, you know, for know them since ever. Loved the video!!!
Mantecol was invented by a Greek immigrant who missed halva from the Middle East so yes, it´s similar
+razzmatazz1974
Mantecol is a trademark. Years ago it was known as "turrón turco" (turkish candy) and it was selled by weight, not envelopped.
Go fuck yourself that is not true
That is correct: Turron Arabe to be exact. They carried it in all Middle Eastern food stores by the pound...
the woman who told me the story was a descendant of that man... surely the Greek surname Georgalos rings a bell?
Not, if you're from Argentina. :) It's true - my Argentine friends confirmed it in the comments below.
11:36
Since i was a kid
My mommy taught me
to find a girl
As cute as you.
+SoyJeSSuS as pretty as you
Gonzalo Martinez
I didn't know that the cup was the 'mate' or that it was so personal. :) Thanks for the insight.
AGUANTE ARGENTINA
hi my little sis just want me to type a message to you that she likes your videos, she watches them all the time and she thinks you're pretty.
there's a lot of argentian sweeties (candies) I love, their sweet potato jelly (canned)is amazing and I eat it with fresh cheese slices (it sounds crazy but is delicious)...Personally I think their chocolate based products are not too great, they have too much fat and sugar in them .... Yerba mate means "mate" herb, argentian people drink it everyday and all day long, it's addictive :) ... and finally, the problem with products sended by people to you as a gift, is you have to laud every one of them LOL
hermano sudamericano!!! XD
2:39 "Then you put your Bombish"
Emmy, you are our food ambassador to the world--you help everybody see what we have in common, and how we are different in our foods--that's good! And how we can enjoy each others cultures. Keep up great work.
translation of the poem
since I was tiny my mommy taught me to find a pretty little girl like you
I must say, any time I ever tried any sort of foodstuff out of Argentina, everything was eye watering delicious.
Especially everything meat related. If you are a carnivore it will make you squeal of joy!
hmmm Mate, I envy you!
The filling for the Dos Corazones, I think we don't know what it is either! lol
Alfajores are the best! And yes, sometimes dulce de leche tastes rhummy. The other alfajor you had is similar to a Mille-feuille cake in spirit with dulce de leche filling.
In Brazil there's this kind of tea too, but we call it "chimarrão"
Isnt a tea.
Gustavo Dubra yeah it's similar in flavour too, but is no the same
So wonderful to see your face and hear your descriptions while you are discovering my country flavours! :D
Thank you!
Saludos desde Argentina!
1:30 BOMBISHA, JAJAJA, ME MUERO
here in Argentina we drink mate when we study, when we travel, when we're with our friends, we like it so much we could invent any excuse to drink it.
Thank you :)
I gave an update about this in my last video. :)
+Ariel Matias
Un porongo forrado en cuero.
Love the way you say "bombilla"! Perfect Argentinian accent!

the chocolate name is "two hearts (chocolate with poetry)" and the poem was something like "since I was a little boy my mommy taught me to look for a girl as pretty as you".
No entiendo :(
+Daniel Santiago Flores Guerrero
#OrgulloArgentino
you are so adorable. when you said "bombilla" sound like a perfect argentinian accent
No havanna Alfajor. :(
Emmy, and those who tried mate and like it, you should taste "Tereré".(It's originally from the Argentinian North) It has the same logic as Mate, but instead of hot water, you use very cold Orange juice.
You won't be disappointed. Tereré is delicious, healthy, and helpfully at summer :D
Best regards from La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina!
:3 Le gusta el Mate
Emmy's reacts are the cutest thing, they make me smile~

I know, right?! :)
