    Hey Avran, 3 seasons ago I went for the afterblack after watching your review and I loved the thing so much I bought 2 from my local shop. Always had good all-mtn skills, but those boards helped me progress into consistently hitting all of the big jumps and technical rails at Carinthia, even started spinning the 30 footers (measured from the end of the lip, not the start ;) ) The things are beat up now, and I’m ready to upgrade to something beefier, I think this is what I need. My question is what size do I get? I run a 157 on the AB, I’m 5”11, 170 lbs, 11 boots. Never had a wide board, so I’m torn between 54W, 55, 57W, and 58

      @AngrySnowboarder  8 месяцев назад +1

      57 works for you so go with that 57w, enjoy the added stability of stomping landings with it.

    How does this compare to something like the Super DOA? Had an outsiders and looking for a similar stiff park board that can handle large features without folding and also lay some turns for a break between laps. Seems like there's a lot of options on the market.

    Sadly I'm looking at replacing my 2011 K2 Slayblade as it's showing it's age a little now. I ride everything from park, groomers and Powder on it, despite what all the reviews said about it back then, it's a very capable at everything, even presses/butters and ground tricks, I would buy another if they still made it. However after watching this review though I think the Hypnotist is being added to the list of boards to think about. Going to watch some more of your reviews now to see what else appeals. Appreciate the effort gone into making these review videos.

      What did you end up going with? Looking to replace a 2011 Slayblade as well.

    • @christopherhassall701
      @christopherhassall701 8 месяцев назад

      @@smostorm well I went for something different in the end and got a ride twinpig, fancied seeing what difference the volume shifted, asymmetrical side cut made. Spent a week on the board so far and really enjoyed it. It glides really well, it carves really well, almost as good as the slayblade and its pretty fast edge to edge too. You have to work alot hard though on hard pack black runs to hold an edge compared to the slayblade. It's lots better for ground tricks and more forgiving giving alot more confidence riding switch. I probably spent 50% of the week riding switch compared to probably about 20% of the time I would on the slayblade.

    This sounds like my perfect board….apart from the stiffness. Can you recommend anything similar but less stiff?
    Previous boards…. Mountain Twin Ltd, Arbor Iguchi pro camber, Burton Skeleton Key Twin, Capita DOA, Public X vans collab.
    Loved the MTN Twin, Skeleton Key, and currently loving the Public.

    Nomenclature: Smooth, not damp?
    When people mention 'smooth' in a flavour profile the 'experienced' tasters will cringe, but I take it as meaning balanced. I think this is a similar context here.
    Historically we've referred to lively & damp as separate things. If you look at an automotive suspension you've got springs & shocks, which are indeed two separate things. Springs store energy, shocks dissipate it. But ideally they'll work together. I think we're starting to see this more with the different materials that they are using in boards... woods, bamboo, carbon, basalt, resins, pre-tensioned glass...
    Aside: You can have a constant spring stiffness or a progressive rate spring (starts soft & increases). Similarly with shocks, they can be constant, progressive or even digressive. I wonder if anyone actually models this for the materials that they're using, or if it's simply empirically derived.
    The materials science is beyond me, but it's an interesting time to ride!

    Hey Avran, thanks for the sick vid, any chance I could please hear your thoughts on how the hypnotist compares to the assassin pro and huck knife pro? Advanced rider with main interests in jumps, sidehits/big drops, being lightweight and stiff, and good for spins. Not fussed about jibs or presses. Thanks 🙂

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  6 месяцев назад +1

      Assassin Pro is the softest then the HK Pro and Hypnotist are close with the Hypnotist is stiffer. HK Pro has more rebound and snap.

      @@AngrySnowboarder thank you boss, that's actually really helpful:) Think I'll try the hypnotist, marginally prefer a little more stiffness over more snap. The spaceglass construction is seductive too

      I think it's more tech packed of the original afterblack where the first 2-3 seasons it was more medium stiff. They have since made the afterblack softer.
      I always thought the afterblack was great and highly underrated so I see this as an afterblack on steroids.

    Hello avran, I am looking into getting a stiffer park board that would have no problem sending jumps, hips, hard charging and being able to jib without having to worry whether it will give out or not. This board sounds like what I am looking for? If so would you recommend a 152 or 155? I am 5’9” 158lb and size 9 boot, and spend most days hot lapping through the park.
    Thank you!

I was really happy with the board but as an option to get a new one, I’m thinking maybe get something like the Jones mountain twin pro instead, and probably have it as a one quiver. My focus will still mainly be jumps but according to your review (top 5 allM/freestyle) the MTP would be quite ok in powder too. So, would you say I’d be sacrificing a lot on the jump game switching to that board? Thanks man!
