Awesome reads. I haven't read The Farseer Trilogy yet, but Its on my TBR for 2025. Im finishing up City of Thieves, about 40% through it and really enjoying it so far. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Demon btw, I think it's the darkest stuff Hayes has ever written.. and that is saying something if you have read his backlog lol. He has never missed for me yet! Also, long live the Tingle! 🤩
Glad you’re loving Farseer, it’s tempting to read the Farseer trilogy again. I just impulse read Whalefall by Daniel Kraus this weekend and it might crack my top five favourite books. It has a crazy premise, but a surprising emotional depth to it.
Excited to see you keep going with Realm of The Elderlings. A lot of people feel that Assassin's Quest is the weakest of the first trilogy....but a 4 star book in a 5 star series is still pretty strong. Robin Hobb sky rocketed to my all time top 5 when I was reading them the first time.
Robin Hobb is truly something else. Her second and third trilogy are some of the best in the game. I haven't read the last trilogy yet, but I've heard good things.
YAY! Another fan of Liveships. Of all the component sub-series, Liveships is the 'best' in terms of telling a contained story. That my favourite character in that trilogy is a ship, says everything. I'm looking forward too, to hearing about John's journey through that part of the world.
John. I want to hug you. Hearing your thoughts on Royal Assassin warmed the cockles of my heart. You *GET* it. ❤Hobb's ❤best writing attribute is her characters and they can only shine in situations that show us who they are. ❤Hobb ❤is incredible at giving us relationships that evolve and grow with each person, while they remain distinct from their relationships with OTHER characters. Fitz' relationship with Burrich is different to his relationship with Chade, is different to his relationship with Patience, and all of them grow believably as each event in Fitz' life broaden his mindset. As to being able to restrain yourself from leaping into Assassin's Quest, well done! As one of the *ahem* more distinguished gentlemen in booktube, I'm sure the slower, more 'old-fashioned', quest in the third entry won't disappoint. I want to talk to you SO MUCH about your thoughts as you progress. I'll be in touch late October when you've made your way through Assassin's Quest. That you're reading Frankenstein in October will make Darling Evie very happy, it's one of her most beloved stories.
Great Weekly Reader!! I just picked up Assassins Apprentice this past weekend and I’m looking forward to starting it soon. You should get royalties on those books for how well you sell them!! 😂
@@Talking_Story from watching your channel for the last 6 months or so reading the farseer trilogy has given you more joy than anything you’ve read. Your recommendations are the reasons I got the first one to try.
That is a truly beautiful version of Frankenstein. Let us hope that your mantra about the exercise bike and the Black Tongue thief has not merged together. Plus you asked about 'Final Assembly', it is a great read. Just a slow build in my view, but I am looking forward to jumping into the next book of the series.
0:23 look here! If you get a grandson -> you would be a really awesome grandfather! I don’t understand why this channel haven’t exploded to 100k+ yet! Would love some fantasy author make a character hero of you in a epic book 📖
As another commentor said, we're here for the rambling mess, it's fun to watch! Finally, Jakob admitted to the tingle😂 I just finished reading "IQ" by Joe Ide. A nice entry to crime fiction, the protagonist is a great investigator with an intelligence on par with Sherlock Holmes. He mostly solves cases around his L.A. neighborhood and either gets paid in cash, food or not at all. It has some emotional moments along with hilarious moments. It was a 4.5 stars for me. Right now I'm reading Fahrenheit 451 and I'm enjoying it.
I hope Blacktongue Thief is amazing for you; I think I've got my October filled in already with spooky stuff that I legit didn't plan ahead of time for the most part. As for this week, I am about 2/3 through Black Swan Green by David Mitchell. It's maybe the most difficult opening to one of his books I've read yet, since I was not (and god willing, never will be) a British teenage boy in the 1980's. But then of course the themes started happening, and I've built a trust in Mitchell over these past few weeks that continues to pay off in spades. And to read a coming of age novel in which the focal character genuinely becomes a young man who starts to think for himself, in ways I can relate to even if obliquely. No, I love this book too. Looking forward to starting October with The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet. I also finished Justice of Kings. I'm a sucker for the POV character being an older person looking back over their past exploits and mistakes while they're telling it, and this is one of the good ones. Looking forward to getting into book 2 when I can. Team Tingle all the way, with solid scientific backing this time! I'm gonna be honest, I did get a bit misty-eyed reading that paper.
@@Talking_Story Yep, I have run into Mme Crommelynck and the resolution of that part of Cloud Atlas already, and I'm finding other phrases and names I've read in previous books. I'm already looking forward to rereading after I get through Utopia Avenue. These books are rich.

Well.....Ok. Remember how I was saying that I had something helpful to bring up this Weekly Reader? It was a Peer-reviewed Analysis of the Tingle. I reached out to a few BookTubers and got confirmation from 4 (Philip Chase, Wera, Brian Bell, Andrew's Wizardly Reads) that the Tingle exsists. Guess somebody beat me to it lol. I'll go ahead and put it here anyway. "As for the Tingle, let's put it this way: If even one person feels the Tingle, then it is real for that person and must be considered 'real,' or at the very least we must acknowledge the possibility of this reality." - Dr. Philip Chase "The Tingle is REAL!!!!" - Andrew's Wizardly Reads "I love innuendos hehe so I'm gonna go Team Tingle." - Wera "Since I gave him the moniker of 'Captain Tingle', one would think that I'd say unabashedly 'yes'. However, Captain Tingle might be using his powers of suggestion to create the Tingle mentally, more so then a physical result of subscribing. So the jury is a little out on the causality of the source of the Tingle." - Brian Bell. I was going to ask if you could read this to Jakob during your next video. You could do it off camera too, but I also wanted to see his reaction lol. As for Royal Assassin, I have to ask two questions: 1. How does it compare to Book 1 in your opinion? 2. Do you have any idea when you'll be getting to Liveship? I absolutely adore RA so much! The ending of that book is a better Sanderlanche than Sando himself has written imo, and Words of Radiance is my 2nd favorite book ever. I knew you would love the book as much as I did, and that the ending blow your hair back!
@@KALtheLostie108 this is everything! I cannot thank you enough for this. I will absolutely be reading this to Jakob. I have to rank book 2 as my fav ahead of 1. Let me know how you like Black tounge thief, I've been eyeing that one for a while. 😁 This weekend I've been having the time of my life with the book fair. In short, it blew my hair back. So many lovely panels and oh sooo sooo many books. It's both a curse and a blessing that I've only got limited room for books in my bag. Good caused I won't go broke but bad cause that means less books (unacceptable) and othe bookish stuff. Also got my pick for the spooky season and I finally decided to start on my Stephen King journey. This is a bit of gamble, it can go either really good or really bad since I'm not yet sure what my opinion on horror is. Sure in fantasy I like som horror elements but will I like a full on horror novel? I'll guesd we see 😅
@@Talking_StoryYes me too and ah you should have been there. Sure a lot of it is in Swedish but there were english panels as well and most of the sci-fi stores books (they have more than just sci-fi such as fantasy, manga and some really lovely special edition of horror anthologies and lovecraft and more) are in english. Just an amazing good time.

@@Talking_Story I think I will. Instead of Gardens of the Moon I’m going to work on my re-read of The Return of the King so I can finish off that series, I’m really enjoying it, but I want to take my time. I’ll probably also pick up either Royal Assassin or The Fires of Heaven.
@@kingzzz6509 great picks to hold you over!
Awesome reads. I haven't read The Farseer Trilogy yet, but Its on my TBR for 2025. Im finishing up City of Thieves, about 40% through it and really enjoying it so far. For October I plan to finally start the Dresden series and read the first 3 books. I have heard that the first 2 are the worst in the series but I'm hoping they are still interesting reads. I own Blacktongue Thief and thats another I hope to get to next year. The rest of this year is pretty well planned out for me as far as reading goes. Happy reading to you both!
Dresden has a slow start but when Butcher finds his way it becomes something truly fun! Your 25 is shaping up to be great it looks like.
Why yes, that is obviously where Robin Hobb deserves to be! The ending of Royal Assassin still haunts me hahaha, mad respect for the level of self-restraint to not dive into book 3 immediately.
Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Demon btw, I think it's the darkest stuff Hayes has ever written.. and that is saying something if you have read his backlog lol. He has never missed for me yet!
Also, long live the Tingle! 🤩
Long live! Thanks so much Esmay.
Thanks to you, I've slid The Historian up my TBR to the "currently reading" status 😏

Glad you’re loving Farseer, it’s tempting to read the Farseer trilogy again. I just impulse read Whalefall by Daniel Kraus this weekend and it might crack my top five favourite books. It has a crazy premise, but a surprising emotional depth to it.
@@mollyharrism I will look that 1 up thanks!
Royal Assassin slayed me, such a good book. Maybe having the Tingle is related to having the Wit.
Pooh gives me a tingle for sure 😂
Excited to see you keep going with Realm of The Elderlings. A lot of people feel that Assassin's Quest is the weakest of the first trilogy....but a 4 star book in a 5 star series is still pretty strong.
Robin Hobb sky rocketed to my all time top 5 when I was reading them the first time.

John, I canct wait until you get to the Liveship Traders books. Those are my favorite Hobb.
You are so kind. I cannot wait either.
YAY! Another fan of Liveships. Of all the component sub-series, Liveships is the 'best' in terms of telling a contained story. That my favourite character in that trilogy is a ship, says everything. I'm looking forward too, to hearing about John's journey through that part of the world.
I just started Royal Assassin! I loved the first one! Can’t wait to get into this more loved your thoughts on the series so far!
@@Chickens_and_Pens if you loved Assassin’s Apprentice like I did this 1 is gonna be a banger for you!
P.S. I've got Kings of the Wyld and Zombie Bake-Off lined up as definite for October.

I got a little misty as well! Keep an eye out for recurring characters in Mitchel’s work.
@@Talking_Story Yep, I have run into Mme Crommelynck and the resolution of that part of Cloud Atlas already, and I'm finding other phrases and names I've read in previous books. I'm already looking forward to rereading after I get through Utopia Avenue. These books are rich.

What a monumental weekly reader 🤩🥳🍾 the perfect way to wrap your birthday month! I’m planning to start reading Frankenstein with you in October, can you remind me which edition of the text is the best?
1818 is the original. 1831 is the abridged. Most people prefer the 1818 to get the uncut feel from that stormy night in Lake Geneva.

To them all!
Philip Chase
"The Tingle is REAL!!!!" - Andrew's Wizardly Reads
"I love innuendos hehe so I'm gonna go Team Tingle." - Wera
"Since I gave him the moniker of 'Captain Tingle', one would think that I'd say unabashedly 'yes'.
As for Royal Assassin, I have to ask two questions:
The increasing threat of the Forged, Fitz’ moral journey of how far he will let himself go as a killer to fix problems, young love and that ending! Just sooooo many pitch perfect notes.

Let me know how you like Black tounge thief, I've been eyeing that one for a while. 😁
This weekend I've been having the time of my life with the book fair.
I'll guesd we see 😅
Can wait to see what you think of King and sooo glad you had a great book fair!
