Nice video and graphics. In your light microscopy analogy you're describing parfocal, but said confocal. Confocal is a light microscopy technique to achieve better resolution, contrast, and depth of field.

You're right, I said confocal instead of PARFOCAL. oops.

What an amazing video!!! I really enjoyed! I have one question, though. In some FEI Inspect SEM (I work with a tungsten Inspect S50 from FEI SEM), there isn't the Wobbler button, or Wobbler option. No problems in adjusting the stigmators, however, without the Wobbler, I just turn on the "autofocus" and proceed with the rest that you have shown in the video? Thanks in advance!

Great video! I have a few question about the SEM:
    1. what is the working distance? Is this the focus?
    2. what is the difference between SEM magnification and print magnification?

WD can be a lot of things to a lot of people. My understanding is it is the distance from the pole piece to where the beam comes at crossover (focus).
There can be a huge difference between screen mag and print mag. many newer SEM's will give you the option of which to use. Since mag is so squishy, the standard today is to use pixel size or the horizontal width of the image.
