This version of this beautiful song was re-recorded for the soap opera The Young and the Restless, i was the director that choose this song but needed a shorter version with less electronics. Jon was kind enough to work with us on this version.
This is where I heard this version for the first time, it was when Nikki and Victor were remembering their past together. I loved this version so much, I just had to find it. So glad I have!
Watched Jon at the Royal Albert Hall in 1980 with someone who was and always will be the love of my life sadly no longer with me, he was incredible long may he continue
Was at the Royal Albert Hall many years ago when Jon sang this with Vangelis from his Heaven and Hell album. Absolutely fantastic concert, so fondly remembered. Introduced by Alan Freeman wearing a monks habit !!
how does the algorithm that powers YT work? Why did it wait this long to bring me to this song? I've loved this song for so many years... I can remember exactly how I heard it the first time and how incredibly deeply it impacted me. But this is somehow so much more special. Thank you. Thank you for sharing this and thank you to the wheels and cogs of the youtube machine for grinding out 8 years to take me to this video at the exact right moment.
OH. MY. GOD !! An Alternate track Of One Greatest JON & VANGELIS track Ever Made. It is A Dream Come True. Be blessed. @Marcia Costa , I don't know where You Found it. But You Are Really My Brother Of Mine. -Peace, Love, Yestopographic73 (Montreal, CANADA).
Yes, but this is a completely different arrangement than the version on Heaven and Hell. Jon Anderson re recorded this for an episode of The Young and the Restless.
I remember hearing the original version with Vangelis while working with a client in the recording studio -she wanted to record her own version of this song. I felt as you did - like I'd found a buried Jon Anderson treasure! ruclips.net/video/qjj3Y1tuLO4/видео.html
But, six surgeries later and a year of treatment, Jon Roy Anderson returned with his working instrument intact (some think he sings in falsetto, but his record is natural, slightly above that of tenor).
Jon's great as usual here but I really, really miss the other-worldy accompaniment and majestic instrumental of the Heaven and Hell version. It was easily their best song together, and IMHO Jon's best ever vocal as well as V's best ever instrumental performance.
To me that sounds like Anderson playing the keyboards (probably Vangelis' keyboards at Nemo Studios). The song might just be in demo stage, but that wouldn't stop Vangelis being more sumptuous and twiddly. So I think this is a Anderson solo take before Vangelis provide his keyboard interpretation and orchestration..
This is Vangelis and he composed this piece. Jon Anderson wrote the lyrics to this song. This song was published in 1975 by RCA Vangelis' Heaven and Hell album. This was recorded at Nemo in Sept. 1975 with the English Chamber Choir.

Wow! Do you remember what season and episode?
Thank you very much for this information, Mike. I had never heard about another version of this magnificent song.
Congratulations. Wonderful.
I would *love* to hear this live with Jon & his fantastic 1000 Hands band.
This is where I heard this version for the first time, it was when Nikki and Victor were remembering their past together. I loved this version so much, I just had to find it. So glad I have!
This guys voice has always entranced me. Bless Jon Anderson for all the pleasure he has brought into the world 🌎
Well said sir
My favourite singer and musicial marvel for all time. god bless you Jon for the listening pleasure you have given me this last 50 years.
me. too.
Every single note was perfect. Saw Yes, many times. The band (especially Rick Wakeman) perfect.
Me to listened since 1980. Pure Love and joy to listen to that Devine voice .still sounds as good now as 1969.❤❤❤
Jon Anderson had the voice of an angel. Saw the band Yes many times. Rick Wakeman was also a musical genius.
Me too...
The original with Vangelis is a spectacular wonder. This shorter version brings JON's voice up front, 'so clear'. Love it.
nothing compares to hear the voice of Jon ¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
+Arturo Daroqui Nada, absolutamente nada.
Very true, seen him perform many times, as a solo artiste and with Yes.
Anytime I hear the voice of Jon Anderson, you have my undivided attention.
The voice of an angel..the eternal Jon Anderson...

Masterpiece 🌿
This is from "Heaven And Hell"(1975), parts of which were used in the "Cosmos" series on PBS.
Yes, but this is a completely different arrangement than the version on Heaven and Hell. Jon Anderson re recorded this for an episode of The Young and the Restless.

Beautiful version. The original takes me to heaven in its middle which is missing here. I wonder if that is Wakeman on keyboards. A mini Yes reunion?
Jon Anderson was a singer's singer. Fan since the first album. Saw Yes, many times. Rick Wakeman was a phenomenal musician.
To Mike Denney. Which year was that wonderful shorter version recorded?
