    Years ago before the modern strike indicator…. Tim down at Abe’s fly shop had n the San Juan introduced me to ploy yarn indicators…. Same principle but a lot less expensive …. Now a days I simply use a hopper as an indicator….. even in winter I get hits on both hopper and what ever dropper’s use .

    Airlocks are great but spook pressured fish in clear skinny water here in PA. Dry dropper works well but can't adjust, although I've seen some adjustable dries recently. Dorsey & New Zealand work in those tough conditions. I didn't know about the xlarge tubing - I'll give it a try. Thanks

      Totally agree. One of the main reasons I got used to NZ indicators. Definitely look into the larger tubing. Will make a world of a difference for you when setting it up. Thanks for watching!

    No problems pulling the Strike Indicator through the eyes of the rod when fishing shallow???

    Where did you get the thicker tubing?

    • @patroutfilms
      @patroutfilms  3 года назад

      Ordered it online... not easy to come by in fly shops but definitely worth getting if you plan on using the NZ indicators consistently

      @@patroutfilms is there a size to look for? I have gotten comfortable with these indicators finally.

      Nice, glad to hear. And they only make two sizes of tubing, small and xtra large I believe for the thick tubing.

      I have not but I’ll have to look into it. Always been a big lover of the NZ wool

    Hi, Brandon and thanks for the content. If I may, 2 suggestions; try air lock indicators. So much easier and adjustment is a cinch. You can use your extra NZ material to tie flies. Second suggestion might be to try and fashion your net retrieval to the butt end of the handle. It will keep the line from getting hung and you won’t have to flip your net to get it in your preferred position. My $.02.
    Keep it up.

      Thanks Anthony, I appreciate the tips. I actually prefer to use the New Zealand indicators. The airlock indicators are just not sensitive enough for my liking and they cause a drag when casting, although, I will agree they are a breeze to set up in comparison to the NZ indicator. In regards to my net, the way it sits in my hip pack will not allow me to run it on the end of my net..... that’s whAt I’ve done in the past but I make my current set up work. Lol Thanks for commenting and the continued support!
