Tax evasion and money laundering facilitate the flow of illicit funds, often linked to organized crime, allowing wealth to be hidden and used to influence markets and politics. Currency manipulation, on the other hand, distorts economic stability and trade balances, often benefitting a select few at the expense of broader economic health. These practices not only erode trust in financial institutions but also exacerbate inequality and disrupt global economic systems. Addressing these issues requires robust enforcement, international cooperation, and transparent financial practices to ensure a fair and stable economic environment.

You got to like those Scottish boys that built HSBC from humble beginning's during their close relationship with Jardine Matheson (both Scottish companies) HSBC helped their fellow Scots finance the Opium trade at the start so its in the blood of HSBC to operate this way.

Many chinese only banked with HSBC as well.. because they were a "Hong Kong" or a "Shanghai" bank... The issue that they have is also when they expanded into other provinces as well... aiming for globalisation AND expansion within PRC ( I would not even call it china today, cos it ain't chinese any more).... as well. And this is half the issue today.
Allen Zieman is a Bond villain. “Naive” “part of banking? “ boxes with millions of dollars coming through the teller window is not naïveté. It is criminal.
I would like to have learned more about laundering drug money and financing terrorism rather the constant harping on about tax evasion. If I was the boss of HSBC and had the opportunity to legally claim my residence as Hong Kong in order to avoid my salary being stolen by a wasteful UK exchequer, I would grab it with both hands. I'm pretty sure that most of us would do the same.
Interesting how people often get "evasion" and "avoidance" mixed up. The former is a crime and you can happily complain about, the latter is finding loopholes in the law to do/get what you want legally. You can dislike that it's legal or want those loopholes closed, but if you could find a way to get your bills reduced significantly, I would be more surprised if someone didn't take that...
Very smart people. The financial center in London known as The City of London even has its own laws. The drug dealers & Mafia end up in jail. These banksters end up with a minor fine and are then allowed to walk away scot-free.
When they fine the company, they are basically just taking away stock shareholder’s money. The corrupt people who work there still go home and back to work the next day. They need arresting and putting in prison just the same as a man on the street working for the cartels.
Have to disagree with Elizabeth Warren here... The regulators did as much as they could within the constraints of the laws written by the people on her side. And simply "shutting down a bank" is not possible. If she wants executives to be thrown into jail for these crimes, then the system/laws have to be set up that way!!
Why impose a fee when they can just make up the money? All you are doing is sharing the dirty money. Oh, your doing something bad, give me a cut. Collapse the bank and put tight controls on them to document where the money is coming from. But if you did that, then you wouldn't be getting your cut.
I do not know why everyone is so shocked at this. If you actually know the history of Hong Kong and its true origins and about the so called "Noble Houses", you would know that HK had been birthed from pirates, scoundrels and not the most moral of people. That has not changed, this is coming from one of the decedents of one of those groups.

@@gadgalleto5906 People like you, are without any question the least educated people this world has ever witnessed before, but hilariously, we will see you, really believing you're bright? I do find it fascinating, that in the year 2022, we've still got people among us, who claim they do believe in a God? Only anyone with even a remedial education, and who use their very own inquisitive mind, would all know that it's impossible for any God to exist?, and not only that, but also, if any higher power does exist?, that we all know it must be, and can only be, the devil? I mean, seriously, it's now gone beyond all the previously known levels and depths of idiocy. Tell us all, why none of you religious people, can prove what you all claim you believe in, even exists? You've had over 2000 years, to come up with just one thing?, just one single thing, that conclusively proves all you "claim" you believe in, to be true? 2000+ years? And after many of mankind's greatest minds, have studied, have researched, and have looked for something, anything at all, to prove this myth? And yet all have come up with absolutely nothing?, not one single thing in over 2000 years? Yet you religious people claim that God, sent his own son (born to a virgin mother), to earth, to teach and to prove to mankind of his father's existence, right?. So, am I missing something here? Why aren't all of you religious people, all asking, where is this proof of his father's existence? We have none? So let's just stop and think here for a minute?... Now, how can you people, who all "claim" you really do believe?, do so, without ever seeing any proof? The truth is something all of us do know, as we all have our very own inquisitive minds?, so we all do know, (or we should all know), that it's actually impossible for anyone of us, to really believe a word of it? Because our very own human inquisitive minds, will always be nagging away at us, asking for the proof, to believe it?. It will never stop nagging away at us, demanding the proof to believe it. It's actually known as a "human trait". And all of us do know this. We humans, never believe anything without knowing it's been proven, you can think about anything we, as humans, do, in this world? And you'll always come to find, we only ever believe what we can prove?. We never believe anything at all without first having it proven. Not ever! And again, we all know this? What we always do, is, we prove what we think, before we ever believe it. We take any “theory” and we try to prove that theory, If we can prove that theory?, then that theory becomes a scientific fact. If, on the other hand, we can't prove our theory?, we never just believe it! It would be complete madness to do so! Goodness me, the amount of catastrophic mistakes we'd have already made, by not requiring proof to believe something?, would have seen us making huge, enormous, catastrophic, mistakes throughout our history - we'd of perished long ago. So, this, really, should be proving to those (who think about it?). That you religious people, today, are only liars? Think about it? You're just people that don't really believe it, (like they claim)?, as explained above, it's actually impossible for you, to really believe it. So why do we see you people, so prepared to lie about this? It's obvious really?, you're all people who think, that, if a God does exist, then you'll be sent to hell for all eternity? And this is why we see, and, read you all, lie through your teeth, about your own so-called belief? So, you can't think much of your God?, (who you all claim is omniscient, knows everything)?, if you don't think a God would know the truth, and know you're lying? LOL. Seriously, If we could put every one of these religious people on a lie detector test, today, and ask them all outright, if they really believe?, not one of them would pass the test, not even the Pope himself, would pass. The religious all go about things in a remedial, nonsensical way, they make no sense, none, not even a little sense. If we can't prove something?, we don't ever simply just believe it?, man! Especially something they want to live their own life following? That's actually no different, from following a lunatic, who claims he comes from the Sun? It's no different, from believing in Santa Claus, except believing in Santa, doesn't cause war, murder, hate, and loathing between mankind? No, only religion manages to do that. With just (three very simplistic, easy to understand, questions), I'll now prove that what they all claim they believe in, can't be a God, but can only be nothing at all, or the devil himself?, (it's not possible for there to be a God), and we can prove this by using their own belief of what God is?? You only need to ask these (three very simplistic, easy to understand, questions) to yourself, to prove this to yourself? Questions like this... Both Christianity and Islam's, most fundamental belief is... That God is the Sovereign Creator, upholder, and ruler of the universe. And that he is eternal (ever lasting), omnipotent (having unlimited power), omniscient (knows everything), and omnipresent (is everywhere). 1. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is willing to prevent evil? But not able to prevent evil? Then it is not “omnipotent” (having unlimited power), proving it is no God. Do you understand that? 2. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is able to prevent evil? But not willing to prevent evil? Then it is “malevolent” (having or showing a wish to do evil to others), proving it is no God. Do you understand that? 3. If the so-called God/Allah (controller and ruler of everything) is able to prevent evil? And is willing to prevent evil? Then why is there evil? Now, because there is evil in this world, proves it's actually impossible for there to be a God! Because, If there is a God, who is omnipotent (having unlimited power), and is not malevolent, (wanting to do harm to others), there would be no evil? Do you understand this? This categorically, conclusively, leaving you in no doubt whatsoever, PROVES, that if any higher power does exist?, then it can only be, and must be, the devil!. Think about it, use your own mind?, this proves that to be the case. You only need to ask those (three very simplistic, easy to understand, questions) yourself, to prove it to yourself. If you really can't work that out? Then honestly, you really do need to venture back to school, as man, that takes a real lack of education to not understand this? And do you know what else? It doesn't actually matter if you religious people may think so or not?, as this is proof that you can only be following and believing in the devil. So, whether any of you like it or not, or whether you think so or not?, is actually irrelevant, as this proves that's exactly what you're following. Maybe you'd like to answer this? Now, we might well see some religious person, try to tell me, that those (three very simplistic, easy to understand, questions), are not valid? Why? Because God is the all mighty, the all powerful, so my meaningless questions aren't worthy of a response, as my own intelligence, is not great enough to ever question any of God's motives! (the same God, I've just proven is impossible to exist, mind you) LMAO. So, the reality is?, that all of a sudden, those (three very simplistic, easy to understand, questions), actually become questions, that the religious will tell you, you need 6 degrees and a doctorate in religious history, to be able to ask? Hahaha mad!

This is why one can say with certainty, this situation is hopeless. The corrupt system is too secure to change. The poor who live in each of their countries will remain poor because their nations wealth is drained into the pockets of a very small group of people and corporations. Maybe a huge global economic collapse wouldn’t be an unexpected result at some point.

This story sheds light on the concerning issue of major financial institutions like HSBC engaging in unethical practices that promote inequality and undermine the welfare state. The fact that a bank with such a history of wrongdoing is still allowed to operate with impunity is a reflection of the deep-rooted systemic issues in the global financial system. The leniency shown towards HSBC by politicians like George Osborne highlights the power dynamics at play and how the interests of big banks often trump the interests of ordinary citizens. It is essential that the public holds these institutions accountable and demands that regulators take concrete steps to prevent such practices from continuing. Failure to do so will only perpetuate the cycle of inequality and undermine the values of fairness and justice that our societies are built upon.

You know the part where they say that, "chinese finance" ? HSBC has around a few sites inside the PRC. Most of the "old Imperial City/Dynasty" has an actual large HSBC presence.. and they recruit certain people to sit in those specific locations.. That is.. their descendents or whoever was the ex descendents of the old dynasties.. This is what I think. And why would they do that ? If they aren't trying to recreate back some kind of old dynasties' model ? And even in HK, how come... the HSBC have the local citizens as shareholders of the actual bank? Why ? How? When ??? So.. the remittances back into HK from the West.. ended up as the collateral of the HSBC's own reserve ??? And it could also continue to buy so many other companies as well ?

If these officials were really concerned about ''dirty money''' being laundered through HSBC, they would try to get to the root of the problem. The people of the USA have provided a lucrative market for the drug trade, that's where the ''dirty money'' comes from. The government should clamp down on the manufacturing of the high powered weapons, bought with the same dirty money, and used to control the Mexican security, who cannot afford those weapons, therefore ,unable to control the cartels, and their '''dirty money''' For HSBC ,it's just marketing, yes business as usual
Bullshit. The dirty money comes from all over the world. The natural accusation is that anything is the fault of the US. You scumbags need to look in the mirror before throwing stones in glass houses. The Swiss are a race of people who made fortunes of of Nazi gold that was ripped out of the mouths of Jews and they will do business with anyone. The are rich, arrogant and have no scruples whatsover. So, tell me what Great Country you are from and lets hold up that mirror for you to look in.
Yeah. That is where the bulk of dirty money goes. Governments suggestions that they need to control Bitcoin to prevent money laundering is pathetic at best.
I suppose this is what it looks like when the world starts coming to an end, corruption everywhere. It lines up with scripture anyhow. But what future do children of today have if this is what it's like now? And God establishes a kingdom and he brings it down. Nothing stands against him, his done it before over the centuries, and he'll do it again.
For me, there is no difference between drug cartels and banks. One supplies the drugs other supplies money; both disregard the local law, not afraid of big governments. They both are capable of overthrowing the governments. Cartels don't care who they hurt (individuals or families); the same with the banks (as small customers, business owners) we are insignificant.
of course the banks knew it was criminal money and didnt report it. the criminals are among their best customers. like the sinaloa cartel. they are probably one of hsbc banks best customers

Hahaha mad!
