Marcus, it is great that you test out these drones so that the rest of us do not have to. Like so many others, I have come to appreciate the reliability of DJI. Yes, the video was long, but it was nice to revisit the weather you had on the day of the test while I am staying inside on this 10 degree Wisconsin day.
I'm glad you had better luck with these drones on this latest review. At times i thought the Hubsan video looked better, it did a better job of not blowing out the sky. At times Fimi was blowing out the sky, and crushing the shadows. The Hubsan colors looked better, but a little to vibrant at times. But I agree with your comment, you can find an older DJI drone on sale or refurb for the same price or less, and it's a better drone than either of these. Great review, and thanks for sharing.
That is most interesting that you started getting the jello effect on your Fimi drone. I have the Fimi Mini and it started having the same problem just out of the blue. I only found just one video before I saw yours in that they went in and adjusted the gimbal gain like you did. But they went the other direction and dialed it down to less than 50%. I tried that on mine and it didn't make a difference. I will need to see if I can go higher and set mine at 130%. Thank you for these informative videos.
The Fimi once it picked up 18 sats held on all the way, and 19 at the end. Its almost four years since got mine, and from then on flew it abit higher much better. Loved the video, pictures look great, comparison very fare. Smashing.
Thanks for a great comparison Marcus! I know you put a ton of effort in to this content. It’s always good to see what else is out there in the drone world and you show it, good, bad or indifferent! It’s important and beneficial to have competition for the drone user and also good for someone new to drones to have content like this to help them make an informed choice.
Interesting comparisons between the two drones, also interesting is the price. Good luck to Hubsan and Fimi, but I’m sure most people would go for the Mavic Air. Good comprehensive video Marcus.
Agree on Mavic Air 2 being substantially better. The only letdown: Air 2 fell through the cracks on controller compatibility. Neither RC (RM330) nor RC Pro are compatible, even though Air 2S works with both. Fimi has the TX10 - with specs closer to RC Pro than RC, a little over $300. I'm grabbing an X8SE & TX10 for one primary purpose: It's - water 💧 & snow ❄️ resistant. Not planning to capture a tornado, but we get grounded too often with this hobby.
Hi Marcus, might pick up another drone to add to my collection. Have a Mini 3 pro and a Air 2s. Wouldn’t mind having a less expensive drone to just mess around with. Been thinking about the Fimi. Love the videos, thanks for the great content!!
Perked up my interest...Haven't see your video yet but I have to go FIMI....Short of the Horizon issue ( that seems to be fixed ) Everything works great and it hauls the mail....Thanks for the video...Stay safe my Friend..😎
You should ask what's the reasoning for choosing a 30 metre height level as a test between drones.. Was there any logic to the test at all.. That's not the standard to test any drone even a dji at that height and as far as saying the words dji again and again as tho there's nothing better to compare then try and compare my drone which is a fimi 2020 model that has gone distance over and over again 6.5 kilometres 7 kilometres for over 2 years and still going... We don't always just compare a cameras capability and decide... The drone has exceeded its expectations not to mention the v2 model which has been rock solid.. I think this environment somehow is not as natural as another...
I had the same jello problem with my X8 mini pro. Gorillaman's Garage says that the jello on the Fimi drones happens at 50 degrees farenheight and below. I'm not sure if that is true though.
I've been watching both of these Drones for when I'm grounded due to DJI Software and can't fly them but I just can't pay that price when you can get a Mini 3 or a Mavic 2 or buy just the Mini 3 Pro without remote deal. Thanks for the info on them
One advantage for the Fimi is that it has an affordable smart controller. I have the 2020 version. I like the drone but I can’t see my phone at all unless I wrap cardboard around the screen. The Fimi smart controller works well and no phone needed.
Hi Marcus, regarding the Fimi issue, have you tried a prop change? I remember from the old days, well balanced props got rid of jello and folding props are even worse these days for going slightly out of shape in the box and out of balance highlighted by (I think) when you turned the jello cycle reduced and was worse when straight ahead. Just a thought as I think you have solved the symptom rather than the cause and ongoing vibration won't do it any good long term. Keep up the good work! Cheers Mike
Nice Review! dji Mavic Air 2 it cost almost 800$ know.. The other two drones has the same price (550$) ..so there is a big difference in the price! Hubsan Ace Pro has obstacle avoidance which is very important , especially with a big fimi 900gr its a disadvantage that is missing somthing so important. And what about Fimi Waterproof ?? is it real?? ..Also i would like to see a review with night videos....In your opinion which drone is the best between those two??? Keep up the good Work!
3rd time lucky, great comparison review. Shame the Snake River footage was no good! Nobody wants jello, that spoiled a great cinematic clip. That canyon really is amazing. Not sure it’s Puggles cup of tea, but Platypus would like to visit!! Hopefully EXO customer service sorts the gimbal.
It only records at 100 mbs to an external card, but then 200 mbs to internal memory. The thing is, it was so bad that I suspect it more like 20 mbs. The original Zino was at 40 mbs and looked better than that.
@@IdahoQuadcopter Hmm... Yea I had that drone and gave it away. The guy had all kinds of issues and I'm not sure if he ever solved them. The idea that they sell that thing for $800 still blows my mind.
Hi Marcus, nice comparisons of those drones, thanks for posting the review. I do see flutter in the Hubsan video on a wide screen TV. 200mbs is pretty high for a V30 SD card. You should have at least a V60 rating SD card for 200mbs. Even my Autel EVO ll 8k has a maximum bit rate of 150mbs. The DJI Air 2 is a great drone, but won't have RID that will be an issue for that drone 9/23. The Fimi X8 SE 2022 does have RID. I don't know if the Hubsan has RID? The most firmware update of the Fimi adds a yellow H on the FPV screen that shows the home point. I'm looking forward to Fimi adding a histogram to their app. Maybe a future Fimi X8 SE will have a better camera than the current 1/2" sensor. The Fimi X8 SE 2022 uses the main camera for precision landing, looking for a round object on the landing pad. Moving the camera up when landing will have the drone lose the landing pad, on landing don't touch the sticks. The camera will automatically lift up and the recording will stop at the instant of landing.
I do love the video quality of the fimi especially for the price it's just a shame dji don't have precision landing. Great comparison Marcus thanks For sharing 😁 👍 👌 🇬🇧
I had purchased the exo pro drone and definitely, in retrospect, should have gone with a DJI drone instead. I currently own the mavic 3 pro and with their recent firmware updates I could not be happier. Actually I could, if they add Google earth map to their rc controller.
@@IdahoQuadcopter good memory, I know right. Hows the RC Pro controller ? I’m thinking on buying one , the cheaper controller with the screen seems to have connection issues.
Hey Marcus. This particular Fimi X8SE seems a bit wonky. See if they will replace it. As to the Exo. The Hubsan; the EXOBAN. The HubXo. WhatEV! You may have lost some vid4o files through the issue when you selected 200 mBit/sec video. You may have saved it inappropriately! Thanks, as always!
With the Hubsan, when the drone went out of range it defaulted back to the micro SD card. I reformatted the card before I realized that. Now I never install an SD card in the drone to avoid that problem.
Wow. That video looks pretty good. Might give this drone a shot once they ban DJI 😅. Until then I am in too deep invested the Mavic world to try anything new. This drone does look pretty capable. Better than Holy Stone. 😮. I am talking about the Fimi of course.
