Excellent BBC adaptation...good performances all round... many familiar radio voices....can't think of a better way to pass a rainy April morning! Many thanks.

I loved this, thank you, but can’t get out of my head the TV (film) Merchant Ivory production.

thanks so much. this is so well produced - really hilarious sometimes - “blame it on Beethoven”. Forester really knows the idiosyncrasies of his subject. The placing of the older attitude versus the very new - The two themes play off each other so well. The change in Lucy (pulled between the English parson in Italy and older Emerson style) is well portrayed - he was born understanding human needs and emotions. that horrible woman “writer” person talks, but still acts the same towards those “below” her. sort of a transition between the two ends. even Cecil changes - even he has an emotional depth. Lucy’s mother and brother are wonderful. that scene in the pond is glorious.
    really a good writer. :) 🙃🌷✨
John Moffet, elder Mr Emerson, was such a good actor. you’d never guess he was the same actor who played Poirot (audioplay). everyone was good :) 🌷

well, i certainly see where the English upper classes get their - well - all i can think of is their uppityness in 1800’s and early 1900’s. they looked down their noses at anything “below“ them or “foreign”. even Agatha Christie had a thing about Greeks.
there is prejudice in every group on Earth. but many, many people everywhere are rooting this out ferociously. (just look at what’s going on in amurica!). we’ll get there. 🌷✨💐🦜🇺🇳🏳️‍🌈

Indeed ! There is prejudice in every group on Earth . Unfortunately liberal white guilt means that it is glossed over or completely ignored - unless committed by Brits or Americans.
      As you so admirably demonstrate
      here .

Музыка для ушей, потрясающая адаптация. Если Достоевский озвучен так же, обязательно послушаю, всегда было интересно, как реализуется перевод русской классики и воспринимается ли она как-то иначе.

The frequency of ad breaks ruined this for me. So gave up.
