I can never have enough versions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, not only my favorite Dickens story, but my FAVORITE story.
MAGOO - I've loved Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol since it was first shown.
Mr Magoo's Christmas Carol is my absolute favorite!
I seek this tale every Xmas, in every form be it movie, musical or narration. It never gets old!!
Old
Magoo you’ve done it again
Nnnnngaaaah
.....and Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol is probably my favorite Christmas TV show. xo
Oh I love this Mans voice, I am enjoying this novel so much. At 70 yrs old I still want too hear, A Christmas Carol every year at this time. Wouldn't be Christmas without it, to me anyway. Thank You for making this reader available to us. Merry Christmas to all🎄🎁
JustMe WingAnAPrayer Me too. 57 years old and I have seen or heard this at least once every year I can remember. 🎄
I am 57 years old and I absolutely agree with you! Merry Christmas and God bless us
I once had to wait for a delayed coach from Victoria station. I found a copy of Christmas carol for 50 pence in a charity shop. Snow drifted gently I went to st Paul's cathedral cemetery and began to read. I finished it at the exact time I needed to leave for the coach. I'm a depressed mean character who doesn't like company or family. But there is a touch of light in my soul following that Christmas eve
Ditto 🎄🎭🎶🍸🥂❄️✨
Dermot Jones Bless your soul, Sir.
When I was a little boy my mother every Christmas used to read A Christmas Carol to my brother, sister and me. She always explained that Scrooge was a mean, hard hearted and selfish man who wouldn't give a penny to anybody. But he eventually became a nice kind man and was generous and kind to everybody.
Thankyou for sharing such a beautiful memory. Your Mother sounds lovely. John (Australia)
Scrooge was definitely a rude dude. Sad truth is, so are many who live in fear from neglect and loss. As was Scrooge’s case. Pity them in love, as Scrooge’s nephew pitied Ebenezer.
I know a few men like that 😅
GOD BLESS THE RADIO, A LIFELNE TO SO MANY,BE IT IN WAR OR PEACE, THIS IS A TYPICAL CRACKING RADIO DRAMA,SUPERB,! THEY EVEN SOLD TINS OF RADIO TOFFEE,SO YOU COULD ENJOY! THE RADIO TIMES HAS ALWAYS BEEN FANTASTIC!
“Oh,just another reading of A Christmas Carol”, I thought, ready to pass it by.
Then, I saw it was being read by Sir Ralph Richardson!
I remembered seeing him in Long Day’s Journey Into Night on screen.
So, I stopped to listen.
And I’m glad that I did!
This amazing reading actually gave me The Olde Christmas spirit. So pleasurable!
This is my favorite radio version of Dicken's A Christmas Carol. God Bless Us Everyone! Ronald From Melbourne FL.
It's a classic, so Sir Ralph and this cast give it their best. Christmas Greetings to you too Ronald, from Gillian, England ⛄🎄🎅
i turned out the lights, lit several candles and listened with just the candle lights, staggering
fantastic mind you have. I will do the same now..
Sir Ralph is a truly wonderful narrator. Gripping from start to finish
December 25th is worth pursuing with a contented heart, keep Christmas well
I'm listening to this on Christmas Eve in bed, very late with my headphones on. Sir Ralph Richardson was a great actor, I could identify his voice any day!
+Melanie Brandt Sounds amazing. Glad for you!
Merry Christmas!
Melanie Brandt is just your makeup or are you as young as i think you are
Melanie Brandt I wonder if you’ll listen to it thus Christmas Eve...also I love your pic!
It’s Christmas Eve and I’m doing the same
Melanie Brandt I love that! So cozy. I also love “A Christmas Story” read by Dick Cavett.
Bloody marvelous !! Charles Dickens is my favourite author and this story is one of his best ....I've watched every version of the film adaption and and loved most of the them.
I've listened to a few radio recordings, but this one is without a doubt ....the very best, this story can only be read ( in my humble opinion ) by British actors and Sir Ralph Richardson has such a wonderful voice and just brings this story alive ....thank you so much for this !!!
Chrissy Soden have you heard Old Time Radio Show version of A Christmas Carol with Lionel Barrymore? Legendary! It’s among the most loved versions. He did it on a yearly tradition at least 5 times. Each year he got even better! The filename is 1939-12-24_CBS_Campbell_Playhouse_-_A_Christmas_Carol_Lionel_Barrymore and if you like OTR you can find a great OTR Christmas Playlist on the Internet Archive.
@@TheFutureLooksGrimm .... thank you so much, I'll have a look for it !!
Blooming marvellous! Aaahhhh yes, that's better, better go feed the reindeer I suppose..🎃🎃👸🏼🎈🎈☃️☃️🎄🎄🎄🎍🎍🧨🎅🎅🎅🤡🤡👻👻👻🎅🎅🎅🎅⭐⛄⛄🎊🧸🧸🎋🎭🐜🐜
Sir Ralph Richardson is a legend. I had no idea he ever did a version of this. Made my day.
I have to say Sir Ralph Richardson has the most beautiful voice for storytelling, also a wonderful Actor ,.
What a treat to come upon this, after a couple weeks listening to RUclips presentations about Charles Dickens, purchasing Simon Callow's book, Dickens' Christmas, then interviews with the wonderful Peter Ustinov telling stories about many he knew, including Ralph Richardson risking life and limb on "a powerful motorbike" , holding up filming because his post-crash reconstructive dental work whistled....and after seeing the 1939 version, this appeared, and so here I am, in happy and appreciative company. My best to all here. God bless us, every one. God bless the wonderful Dickens and all who, year after year, bring this to life anew. Thanks so much for posting.
A Christmas Carol featuring Sir Ralph Richardson. What could be better to listen to on Christmas Day! Thank you for posting this gem; I never knew this existed- wonderful surprise!!!
A very warm and accurate rendition. Thank you for the fine performance.
I love these stories thank you so much for bringing great stories back
I adore this Dickens story! My fave of his and I watch all versions of the movie - though I will say I really like the one with Alastair Sim best.
Love Sir Richardson’s melodic voice and perfect diction. A superb actor, as well.
Had to find this on youtube because I cant find my local radio station on my phone and they always play it and I always listen!
How rare and wonderful this is. Thank you.
Thank you so much for your time and patience, I’m a bit late , but I could listen to this all day all year long , wonderful you are a star 🌟
It’s Christmas night, can’t imagine having a Christmas without hearing Scrooge. A favorite 🎄

Thank You! Very much enjoyed.
I can remember this when rebroadcast by the BBC in the 80s?. I have it on tape and then on a CD transcription. It is a classic and so atmospheric and I try to play it every Christmas. Thank you for uploading.
Out of so many versions available i think ive struck lucky. Love it.
A fine actor to read this famous tale, brilliant story and storyteller.
This is the man that narrates in the WaterShip Down original too! What a national treasure
Getting ready for Christmas. This is just what I need to get me in gear!

What are you, some kind of sicko? You say you're twelve years old. Aren't you a little young to be talking such filth?
So you're in a sex education class. So what? What does that have to do with this story? What does it have to with anything?
One of the best readings !❄️🇨🇦
Sir Ralph is just perfect!👍
What a story
What a voice Sir Ralph Richardson has. Wonderful.
Charming, simply charming!
Grew up on sir ralph as the finest ever Scrooge and Paul Schofield as a truly magnificent narrator .
Thank you!!!!
This was sir Ralph Richardson's second go at playing Scrooge. He recorded it for Caedmon Records along with Sir Paul Scofield and Fredrick Treves. Also a wonderful recording!
I know Ralph Richardson played Dr. Watson on the radio opposite John Gilgud as Sherlock Holmes... but I always remember him as "The Crypt Keeper" in the 1972 Amicus film, "TALES FROM THE CRYPT".
"Who's NEXT? Perhaps-- YOU??"
I assure you I have a purpose..And why did you come here?😂😂😂😂🤡👻👻🎅🎈🎁🎍🤶☃️☃️🎄🎄👸🏼🎃🎈
That was great! Thank you.

Best audio version puts me off to sleep
I enjoyed it tremendously, I only wish it were the unabridged version of the book.
I enjoy this
Never knew this even existed
Sir Ralph Richardson was a fine actor and narrator.
Great version of this Classic by the greatest story teller!
One criticism...A carol at the end would have been more fitting than the music here.
Thank you.
A Happy and Peaceful Christmas 2020,
"God Bless Us....Everyone!" 🎅
Such class!
The message from this will never die as long as people value money above people
I love it all the Christmas carol, the more the merrier

Thanks, Roman, for these marvelous Ralph Richardson recordings. Do you have another 39 you haven't posted yet??
One of the best movies ive seen
Sir Ralph!
He would have made a brilliant Scooge with a voice like his haunting and gravel voice. BRILLIANT.
They left out the part from Scrooge's "future" where it's revealed that Tiny Tim had died because his father couldn't afford medical treatment for him on the meager salary Scrooge paid him. It's after Scrooge renounces his former ways that he raises Bob Crachcit's income and promises to help him and his family. This is why at the end of the book, it is said that "to Tiny Tim, who did NOT die, he (Scrooge) was a second father" (for some reason, the "who did not die" line is left out of this adaptation of the novel).
Looks like Patrick Stewart! !
Great read
my goodness, brilliant read. fun to listen to. thanks so much :) 🌷🌱
(the music at the end is awful though.)((
This country stil has sirs, lords, kings and queens and lets not forget the dukes. They count on charity as long as it's not from the GOV'T.

Anything Christmas I'm in on iit,it, just I. Love Christmas
Lacks heart and conviction.
💛
Frederick Treves? Wasn't he the Elephant Man's physician/friend from the David Lynch film?
I don't know whether it's a bad adaptation or whether the production has been badly edited down to under an hour. I suspect the latter.
Iioi😅😅😅i😅😅😅😅
Yea Yea I’ll have a great weekend and happy mother’s baby baby dear dear mama merry thanksgiving baby bless mama merry merry love mama mama bless love mama mama baby mama love mama mama baby moon mama merry thanksgiving baby bless jojojojojo
He was the crip keeper in what 1972 classic?? Anyone?
Outrageous what they did to Jacob Marley.A man works hard and minds his own business and that is what he gets.Shameful,Marley should have been a bum and then those turd holes on the other side would have liked him.
Is it just me that thinks he looks incredibly similar to Tommy Lee Jones?
Just around the eyes, and only from that angle!
At 1:43 to 1:47 I know it is childish but did Scrooge let one slip? Lol
Nick Thompson lmao but no just the chair
😂😂
Nick Thompson 😂😂
is there an actor on the planet who hasnt wanted to play scrooge?
Anthony Hopkins.
Allen Robert Brown Linda Jones Jose
Perez Carol Miller Michelle Lewis William
Tommy lee Jones
This story is partly an encouragement towards warm generosity but also it is an anti-semitic attack on an elderly man suffering from great poverty. Scrooge preferred not to celebrate a festival from a religion which was not his. He got bullied into doing so. It's good that he allowed his employee to celebrate Christmas but not good that he was forced to celebrate it himself.
Me neither
This story suddenly skips at 1:11. Didn't anyone else notice that? Thumbs down
bite me. merry christmas.
i hope you meet the Undertaker soon Grandma
So what. It is an old recording and you are not paying for it. Just enjoy it and quit griping.
Emma SCROOGE Rivers??
Leave her alone she doesen't understand tech like we do ok jesus let her know if it happend or not
A very British tradition, a ghost story at Christmas the Victorians loved them
