so the exasperated "alright" response to an obscure fun fact our boyfriend just gave us really is a universal experience, huh? lol
“Italian Grindr” was just Davids search history before meeting Steven.
The Italian Chopped Sandwich is literally a hoagie dip on a roll. Philly has been doing that for literally decades!
Crazes come in cycles I guess.
We lapped back around!!
Thank you! I legit came to the comments to say this!
You're right! You can get this at bodegas in Brooklyn with just about any type of sandwich. This isn't a trendy creation.
I know it's hard for Muricans to believe....but a lot of people on the internet aren't from there. The world is a big place hun!
@@fleshtaffy David is from the NYC area...his local delis do this and he thinks it's a weird, TikTok trend. We get that every experience isn't universal or accessible to everyone.
The looks aren't my concern it's the texture. I like the feel of biting into the layers rather than having a chopped salad sub.
Its always fun when stephen shows up 😂 the exasperated love from david is hilarious
I don't know, I think this actually sounds like a good idea. I liked chopped salads because it allows a little of everything in every bite and is more manageable to eat, and I think I'd like the sandwiches for the same idea. Mr. Early Onset Old Man Grumpy and his Super Chill (or stoned?) BF continue to be entertaining af though.
honestly as someone who has problems chewing + swallowing bc of thyroid issues, these sound+look like a god send
get well soon bud
enjoy 🎉
My father had 3 strokes and chewing/swallowing was difficult for him… I understand your frustration
Im literally having problems eating atm dunno why not even rice I want to try one of the first ones but I also dont want to waste the $ to try. I made sloppy hoes last night (I dont call them sloppy joes) and couldn't swallow any of it. I have been craving them for months and finally make them and cant eat them. Should I try if I cant even eat that?
I made the chopped Italian last night and my husband and I both loved it. Posted it in my FB food group (stoner’s cravings) and everyone loved it there as well. I guess it’s just a good trend.
I love the banter between David and Stephen
PUMPKIN SPICE PUMPKIN SPICE can’t wait for pumpkin spice month
I think this time it's a little in your head lol I think all of them look delicious and it's a good way to make sure you get everything in one bite.
Yeah I thought this was a good way to make sure the ratio of ingredients is right in every bite. But I do love David being a little hater, it's just his vibe sometimes lol
9:07 Looking good stephen! Great to see you again! A very welcomed change of peace and happy that david keeps you well feed!😊😊😊😊😊😊
"change of peace" really fits in with the end outtakes!
I've never seen this trend, but honestly? The stuff all chopped up in the bread looks SO much more appetizing to me than having them whole. Great video! Opened my eyes to a different way to put together sandwiches.
Ceasar salad was actually created in Tijuana, Mexico. In the Cears Hotel which still stands to this day.
Canadian here too. There are shops that you can get all kinds of toppings on your poutine. Pulled pork poutine was really good but heavy lol.
I genuinely missed Stephen 😂❤ y’all are so cute and I love that he’s extra Italian lol
A chopped BLT with avocado sandwich would be killer.
From "Now That's a BITE." to the origin of the Caesar salad trivia your boyfriend is hilarious.
I get the appeal, especially for cold sandwiches. Personally, I can't stand most cold sandwiches(I'll still eat them, just not that into them) because of the layers. I always feel like I'm biting into thick slabs of whatever is on it, especially the cheese. If it's heated up, then it becomes soft and I start to like it again. A chopped cold sandwich sounds like the solution to my personal problem with them.
I've never thought about food that deeply. Are you from Murica?
@@fleshtaffy I am, but I never think that deeply either. Just an observation I've had when I mostly don't finish or eventually decide to at least warm up cold sandwiches.
@@fleshtaffy you eat food every single day of your life, hopefully. sorry if not. it seems natural to think about food deeply when it is such a big part of daily life.
@@mega-egg5808 I have never once thought about a sandwich as much as this guy. It's a Murican culture thing to obsess over trivial things.
@@fleshtaffyBetter than being a d-bag who generalizes a whole continent (the United States doesn't make up all of America) for what some people do. What you do doesn't equal what everyone else does. Texture and such is a big thing for a lot of people. People like what they like and dislike what they dislike.
My city has a poutine week every spring where different restaurants come up with their own version of poutines and people get to try them out for charity (we also have taco week and burger week, same idea) and several of them utilize maple bacon lol. We also have a sub shop that does specialty poutines. They don't currently have a poutine with maple bacon, but they do have stuff like Steak works (cheese curds, philly steak, onions, green peppers, mushrooms, hot peppers, gravy), chicken bacon ranch (cheese curds, chicken, gravy, ranch dressing, topped with bacon), and holiday (cheese curds, chicken, stuffing, gravy, sweet cranberry sauce)
"His fun facts are fun!" hahah great ending.
I haven't made a chopped sandwich but I get the point because I seem to have a "chewing problem" and everytime I try to eat a sandwich I have trouble cutting the meat all the way through with my teeth, so it all comes out and makes a mess of all the ingredients. Anyway, I think I should just stick to plates instead of sandwiches. Great video
Stephen and his random facts 😂
The, "We don't have to get into it!" at 10:00 really spoke to how thoroughly this argument ruined that date lmao
The couple-y bickering at the end really had me cackling. You both seem happy and I'm happy for you.
Man I was getting cheesed off, because I think this is a brilliant idea, then you read me to filth with “maybe it’s good for people with chewing deficiencies” 😂 Clearly not everyone takes the entire lettuce in one bite, but not everyone has dentures at 22 :’)
this, i'm like, this sounds a lot better than trying to go all out on a sandwich with my new dentures lol
I got dentures at 23! We're not alone lol
Everything about this tells me you’re British
lmaoooo the end literally had me laughing out loud. the dynamic between you two is hilarious and adorable. love when stephen joins in. side note, david your videos are such a comforting space for me. thank you for the work you do to put them out
As someone with sensory issues with food textures sometimes this unifying of ingredients would really be helpful on days when that is worse.
These sandwiches turned out much more sophisticated than I could ever expect. Looks like the work of an artisan in the making.
The boyfriend is adoreable. Also, this is dumb, but I was glad to hear his mom again in one of these. Idk, I am italian-americian and queer, and coming out was scary for me. I was worried her not being around anymore meant things might have gone bad.
Yup adding bacon (and other toppings) to poutine is a thing. Some restaurants specialize in poutine with weird toppings. I generally find bacon poutines are too salty because they use the same (already salty enough) gravy as normal poutine. Some of my favourite weird poutine toppings include Montreal style smoked meat, butter chicken, and jerk chicken.
I live in Montreal Quebec and poutine sandwiches are nothing new and usually made with sandwich bread 😊.
It seems like a natural evolution of a chip butty! I'd try it.
Plus, you can't just make the fries "any way you want". My gawd...
❤ poutine
Me living next to MTL the last 30 years and never seen that. I don't think it's that common and I really don't see the appeal lol. Already a poutine is heavy enough, why the bread
@@aleigor450 It was a favorite meal of many elderly people I knew and something they would do to offen with other family and friends.
Honestly... It's kind of a great idea. You're basically making a salad (like tuna salad or ham) and it could really stretch your food if you're on a budget (and who isn't nowadays, really?). :3
I agree, the fun facts are fun 😂 I also loved "we don't have to get into that". Great video as always.
When I started seeing these trending I thought it was a great idea, if you happen to have very little in your fridge you can make a hearty meal with these ideas. I also think these would work better if you bring your lunch to work. have your fixings already chopped and just add them to your bread when you're ready to have lunch!
PUMPKIN SPICE PUMPKIN SPICE! Cant wait for next month full of it! 🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃
Caesar salad was created/popularized (depends on who you believe actually made the dish, by Caesar Cardini. He had such a popular restaurant taking advantage of Mexico's lack of prohibition laws that he sold out of every dish on the menu and still had customers. The salad was made with what they still had in the kitchen, but the chef claims Caesar stole on of his family recipes and passed it off as his own.
But in Tijuana, not Mexico City, right?
@@tamarasdreamworld Sounds about right.
Wikipedia is amazing isn't it

''Chewing deficiencies''
''Saturated soggy sandwich''
Dave is so excited in this video: NOT, LOL
Me: I love sandwiches. I like cutting things small. Why didn't I just combine these sooner? Every bite is perfectly seasoned and does not pop out the back when I bite :P
I honestly really like Italian BMTs and the chopped version is great simply because all the ingredients are covered with the sauce of your choice
David's channel is legit my comfort channel. Love your vids david!
Excuse me we need 10x as much screen time from your boyfriend he's literally hilarious
Thank you so much for this new video 🥰
Really glad you posted today (yesterday?). I was feeling a bit bad, but your video made me feel better. I hope you two have fun sight-seeing!! Also, I'd love more Stephen cameos in your if he's comfortable doing them. (Side note, I'd love to hear his fun facts. I love people infodumping.)
The last one looks good! I’m new to the channel, I can’t help but notice you guys are like twinning a little in this video with the glasses and everything, just means you both have good taste! ❤
Enjoy your trip! On a side note, what I love about your videos is that I can what then a million times and the don’t get old. #Timeless
Caesar salad is so good. I knew that one would be the best
I'm reminded of the Philly Cheesesteak which also has the fillings all chopped and mixed as well.
Also the chopped cheese.
i've made one of these before they're really good ur always gonna get everything in one bite
Also, I hope you plan on doing more pumpkin spiced stuff for this season. :) Love ya David. :)
October is pumpkin spice month usually
These are the same people who have been sleeping on the seafood salad sandwich even though you're basically doing the same thing just with different ingredients lolol
The breadcrumb plate reminds me of my grandma. Thanks for the goosebumps 😊
Another great video 🎉
I was sitting here like oMg bae and me are the same person and then he said the Caesar salad and Mexico thing AND I SAY THE SAME SHIT ALWAYS LMAO I LOVE HIM
Stephan and my son can have an in-depth discussion about Caesar salads. It’s Kris’ favorite and always his choice for starter. I’ll have to look up your Caesar dressing recipe.
As for Sam’s sandwich, in his video, he freely admitted that he didn’t start this, it started with people taking the chop salad from one of his restaurants (or talking about these because they were in his restaurant) and putting it in a hoagie roll. So he decided to show how they make them on his channel.
I love everything about you guys
I mean, I think this is a good idea in concept. Having a completely homogenous bite of a sandwich is very satisfying and leads to a more even enjoyment of the fillings. That said, I wouldn’t ALWAYS be in the mood for this approach
Oh I hope you’re having fun in Seattle. You came at a good time as it’s sunny and relatively warm for September. Also you should try Dicks Drive Inn.
Appreciate the shout out David! ❤
I think the Caesar salad one makes this worth it that looked yum!! I might have to make that. Edit: the honey throwing facts!! Fun facts are fun 😉🤭 Great guest appearance
I’m just shocked how that whole pack of chicken only costed $7.65😭
That would’ve been like $15 where I live
15 to 20 something here 😢
25+ here DX "make chicken dishes to save money" bish, chicken is the MOST expensive meat here!
As a Seattleite I hope you enjoyed your time in the City! I think you would appreciate much of the food especially in the international district!
I walked away from the video for like two seconds.. when your boyfriend started talking I literally thought it was you😂 you sound the sameeee
Welcome to my hometown! Kenji's got a ton of good recs for stuff to eat around here. Hope you have fun :)
The last sandwich was the only one I would other trying x
I do my BLTs like this, between the slippery tomatoes and long bacon you yank everything out on the first bite.
The chopped ceaser sadnwich looks great ngl
I can see these being super convenient for camping. Just put the chop in a ziplock bag and scoop into your bread
how is it more convenient than putting the non chopped ingredients in a bag, are you thinking it's a space saver? Cause it ain't. Cold cuts are flat lol very easy to pack.
All of these seem like they were better in their original form except maybe the Cesar one. But they all look delicious, and the video is great. I can't wait to try that Cesar dressing recipe.
people have doing that for ages! at least here in austria and slavic countries. just mix up veggies and for example ham and mayo and bam! you got a spread you can use on bread!
I’ll be the one with chewing deficiencies because I LOVE these sandwiches! My husband is not a sandwich guy and asks for them made like this since we made them the first time. I do get it though. It didn’t need to be viral 😂
I need more food testing commentary from your boyfriend. He cracked me up.
I made the italian one by puttng everything through a meat grinder. I have texture issues where some of them can make me sick, so by eating it that way I could eat the lettuce and onion
Congrats on your food baby!
Fun facts are indeed fun. I like one fun fact at the end of a video, especially if is related to the video
He’s carrying a food baby! All David’s fault lol 😂
Really looking forward to the punplim spice month david! Leave hearth of you're too! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Chef's perspective here - breaking down the cell walls of vegetables like red onion dramatically changes the flavour! Chopping the ingredients 30-mins to an hour prior to sandwich construction will also change the flavour. Minced garlic tastes very different to sliced garlic etc. I haven't tried any of these but it isn't as one dimensional an idea as you've imagined!
Have fun in Seattle!
david really talks about pumpkin spice season like its a war or the apocalypse 😂
Omg liram is often on the buzzfeed UK videos! I know he’s really into food but didn’t know that he had a food tik tok
The chopped sandwich is good for people without teeth, with less teeth and those that just have trouble biting through things. You often ignore things that are good for people who aren't as fully able bodied as you.
As someone with TMJ, chopped sandwiches seem pretty nice, especially when my jaw is acting up
We love the fun facts 😂
If you're in Seattle come see Victoria!
I feel like chopping the ingredients like this would be helpful for those with food texture sensitivities. And it'd be good if you were doing a large burrito/wrap. Like the kind that takes two bites to eat across where one is meat and one is all vegetable and now it doesn't matter because it's all mixed together. I also feel like you'd be able to mass make the filling and then just scoop the filling into the sandwich for convenance and speed at a food truck or large event
lol I have an overbite and I hate eating sandwiches because I can't bite on the lettuce, this concept was made for me.
212 in the intro is everything
We love Stephen!!!!
I'm so hungry now!!!
9:07 he is not being fed like a child he is having one
So I could do this with almost any sub (cold subs) .. have pans prepared for the day and be able to serve super fast for high turnover.. yeah... this is all great stuff
Adorbs!
"We Dont Have To Get Into This." 😂
i cant help but think this would be like. a real easy way to make sandwiches for a group of people :3
I LOVE THE FUN FACTS
My parents love these chopped sandwiches lol
Stephen's food baby 🤰
Last minute or two..😂😂😂
Fun facts ARE fun
I've had these, they're delicious. The whole "appearance thing" be damned, you could say the same for a Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich...
saw the sam the cooking guy episode on this yesterday and thought “hmm i bet this is what david seymour will cover next”
what do ya know!
