@Guns N' Roses Central it's also worth noting that when they played the song live on the UYI tour Slash often played a part of Metallica's 'Welcome Home (Sanitarium)', e.g. on the Tokyo 92 performance you can hear this.
As always, thanks for taking the time to do these videos. It would have been good to hear “what the song was about”... we heard about the arm and head in a garbage can thing... and then Axl’s dedications, but not much about the song’s origin or meaning. Thanks again.
A man who lives his life vicariously through other people because he has no life if his own 😂😂😂 we recorded this on VHS from pay per view and I've probably watched it 200 times
I like the bit of mystery behind the studio version of this song, it sounds like Izzy on lead vocals but doesn't list any lead vocals on the notes and Axl sings lead when it is played live
GNR just not the same without Izzy. He is the pin that slash pivots from. The Malcolm Youngs, Chris Shifflets (foo fighters) and Izzys of the world are unsung heroes.
Seymour was such a narc. Why would she tell him about Beatty while he was on tour and far away, so typical narcissist. She caused more trouble than she was worth.
Yeah, I totally agree with you. By the end of the 'Use Your Illusion' tour, Axl had become out of control (his behaviour was totally erratic). Fast forward to the present day, & the reformation of Gn'R & subsequent world wide tour; Axl seems to have his 'shit together' so to speak. Axl, has turned up to every show, on time, & he hasn't freaked out, or done anything bizarre on stage 'at all' (in the past, it was a rarity for a show to go by, without Axl generating some issue/ or drama). I also thought Axl's weight gain could be the result of him taking meds (although I don't have Bi-polar disorder, I have been prescribed a few different anti-anxiety/ mood stabiliser's over the years; & they all seem to cause weight gain (for me, anyway).
ANYTHING Stephen Davis wrote should be taken with a grain of salt. He is just re-paraphrasing already conducted research and already established facts to cultivate it with his own embellishments. Worse than Kerrang!
I f**king love this song. Any song with Izzy on vocals is kickass!!
I Love this song! It’s my favorite off of Use Your Illusions 1.

Danny Crash actually it's Creeping Death, not Sanitarium. I know, I've watched it probably 500 times 😋

"Nice to see 'em, wouldn't want to be 'em"
-Izzy Stradlin' after the 5 European stadium dates in 1993
haha yup according to Izzy the whole band were like zombies and Axl seemed more agitated than ever.
That riff is insane
"I'd like to dedicate this song to a man who likes to play games"
classic speech
... a parasite...
"A cheap punk"
Hahaha best rant!

sam phi absolutely right,
Izzy's just a mystery and he eminates that. Like one time when they were recording UYI, he went out to get a light and nobody saw him for two weeks...
Izzy Wrote all the BEST GN'R Songs....Fight me!
Not all, November Rain, Estranged, Coma, Don't Damn Me, Don't Cry, are just some.
@@Zman82lol, if you're into the ballads & long songs then sure. But all the best bluesy bangers were Izzy's.
Chorus for this song is basically inspired by "Patience" . Check Del James interview with Axl - included in the Patience single.
yup, you're the second person to tell me that, wish i had listened to patience interview.
Izzy plays all the electric guitars on the studio version, including the guitar solo and nearly nobody knows it.
Stephan de Rouw and how do you know?
He also does lead vocals
Slash plays the outro. And rhythm in right channel
The hits are great by them but the underrated songs kick ass
Thanks for the great video!
thanks!
axl mentioned the head and arm in the garbage can at there sweden show 91,check it out

Very informative! Thanks! :)
thanks!
For those who are not english native speakers, would you explain the meaning of the title of the song? Jive, the jazz dance? Thanx
Daniela Preto da Silva double talk and jive are both terms for different types of lying.
Daniela Preto da Silva deceitful or worthless. A person who stubs you in the back.
Great breakdown
I remember that, I was at the show in Werchter in 1993 where he dedicated DTJ to Izzy
yup. That must have been a good show GNR in their prime back then.
Yeah it was, I recall they had Brian May and Suicidal Tendencies open for them, strange combination
Home fuck!!! Hahah souch a great song,i love it!
Any info on the acoustic version of this song thats on youtube?
i think it's just a demo from what i know.
Lord Grant mercy to the Soul of the Poor Unfortunate who wound up in the trash.
Izzy found the head and arm when he was lookin for his heroin.
Another great Izzy song!
yup!
Love the ending coda to this song. Kinda reminds me of the end to Layla.
agreed Ethan!
🤘🏻
I know Axl denies it I do think, as someone who has it themselves, Axl is bipolar. If he is on meds for it now it could explain his weight gain.

thanks for the comments.
is this really about the song? it sounds more like its about axl problems with his girl or who axl dedicated the song to...
this is about the whole song but i also talk about items related to axl's rant around this time related to the song.
"The True Story About Who Axl Dedicated 'Double Talkin Jive' To"
+ludurigan I for one enjoy hearing little extras like that
i dont know why thius is my favourite gnr song, and i still dont
Enjoy your videos, but it sounds a little bit like you are reading, a more natural vibe would be better.
thanks for the feedback
Some of they're simplest songs are the best fu k all that orchestra shit
Izzallen does NOT sing this song.
he does sing on the studio recording
