You know, most people that order Starbucks order it to-go. No one will wait there to finish their coffee/drink and put the cups in the machine. This is just a waste of time, effort, and money.
I love this idea, but I just don’t think it will catch for the general public. Unfortunately most people are just too lazy. They want quick, easy, convenience. It takes practice to remember to bring your cup with you when you fly out the door to get coffee before starting your day. I would absolutely love to see Starbucks succeed in this endeavor, but I’m just not confident. I really hope I’m wrong tho. Down with single use!
I know right but I also think it all starts with each one of us, if you try your best to remember yours and I do for mine. It will work. I am glad Starbucks is thinking this.

I don't know what area you're in, but at the Starbucks where I work, we are not allowed to use customer's cups yet due to covid restrictions. Have you asked why they can't use your cup?
I’m in AZ and one Starbucks I go to just says they will give me a cup of ice water when I asked if they could refill my Starbucks tumbler. The other location said “We can’t do that yet”. This morning I tried the Starbucks that’s in a Safeway grocery store and they were able to give me ice water in my Starbucks tumbler.
@@kristena.1010 The Starbucks in the grocery stores are under a different set of rules. They're not owned by the company. For example, I can't use my partner numbers at a grocery or target Starbucks.
Ugh just a horrible idea. I do not want to use a cup that someone else took home and used for God knows what and then me use it after it was supposedly sanitized. Yeah no thanks! Just use quality biodegradable cups. Hygiene is important!!
Exactly ! And I’m sure they keep an eye on people entering and exiting looking fishy who do take their cups home and don’t let them just return it at any given time.
The headline on Google said Starbucks is making a “bittersweet announcement” you know a company is full of themselves when they call getting rid of paper cups “bittersweet announcement” and they’re not even going out of business

Thats true I hope that promise goes in true cause they been throwing out the plastic Cups and paper cups on the streets and not in the trash and I seen all every years hope that works I take my cups but for everyone to get there cup and use it Cause alot dont know there missing stars by not taking a reusable cup that's why I take mine to get bonus 25 stars each day

i dunno, i manage for starbucks, and people are so nuts about their rewards points and discounts that i think they’ll mostly participate!

What they neglected to say in this segment is that the customer will pay a deposit for the cup and it will be refunded once they bring the cup back.

Pre pandemic people used to bring their own reusable mugs.
We still do bring our own now… at least for Starbucks in my country.
