Ya, I pretty much 100% agree with the sentiment that if the game wants you to be suler precise and get high scores it needs to be sharper and I wish I could trust the game more. I find the dash to easily be the worst offender. That move really needed to be mapped to a seperate button.
But also still hope people go out and buy that game because its legit great for the core adventure, design, music and charm present!

I played this game on Switch as well, and while I did experience some bugs, I didn't have nearly as rough of a time as the person in this video.
With bugs it's always up in the air whether you'll get lucky or not, I think he got particularly unlucky (or maybe I got really lucky), it's something to keep in the back of your mind if you're planning to pick this up.

I think you’re doing something wrong with the boost rings. You aren’t supposed to skip across the water, you’re supposed to slide over it. Maybe you’re incorporating a jump somewhere and that’s why you start skipping? Unless that’s a Switch exclusive bug. I played on PS5 and don’t recall having that problem. And other players’ footage doesn’t show skipping either.

Thank you for reviewing this. I’ll be picking it up on Switch and was wondering on performance

The Switch version is by far the buggiest and worse way to play (until the new update coming soon).
The PC version still has a few bugs, but they've been mainly fixed, and were far and few between compared to the Switch.
Most believe the Switch port was rushed for the Partnership showcase.

I'm playing it at 120fps on PS5, and the platforming is still a cumbersome momentum breaking mess, even after all the updates/patches. The game feels like it's still in development. Penny pauses in his tracks as he hits the ground when you try and jump and run in the opposite direction, the so called double yo-yo jump is just awful, The Yo Yo tricycle mechanics feel sluggish and aren't very intuitive at all, there's no run button, proper double jump ect. It completely lacks the momentum, fluidity, snappyness and polish of something like mario odyssey.
The graphics sure look nice, and it's boasting solid art direction and decent music, but the controls break the experience. A few tweaks here and there would of done wonders, but alas. It's not even worth playing.

I heard enough about the performance on the Nintendo switch. I'm satisfied with the information. That is a solid avoid for me.
