When comparing the original with this one...I feel like the original is a sharp pain, like a stab of a knife that lingers on and makes you feel like only that part of your body exists This one...is just a heavy pain. It's like if someone threw a whole boulder at you, a boulder of everything wrong about you. Like your whole self is wrong. A part of you isn't broken, *everything* about you is broken.
While reading your comment (especially the *everything about you is broken* part) I thought: what would the fight against Omori be if the author decided to represent him as Sunny's despair instead of Sunny's guilt? If Omori was as broken as Sunny is. I think it would have been even more devastating than the original, especially the dialogues. *If they know the truth, I'll never be able to regain their trust. No matter what I do, it will be hopeless. All I'll do is make things worse. It would be better to just die.* *I'm useless. No, I'm less than useless. I'm sick.* *Mari loved me... and I killed her.*

I feel like if there was a variant of the Hikikomori route where you could still fight Omori, it would play a version of this theme at this sort of speed, maybe with extra distortion, since Sunny is fighting back against even more repression than he is in the main route.
More like it'd be a short fight against OMORI, right before the cutscene in Hikko where Sunny just disappears from Headspace, where you fight as OMORI against Sunny and Sunny doesn't even try to fight back. Now THAT'd make this edit of it have effect.
This hard violin feels much more fitting cos is not easy for Sunny to overcome himself , his guilt , fear of hatred from his only friends. Truly i feel soo horribly for Sunny , he didnt deserved sh*t like this , yet he overcome... Or not?.
@@DerGecko92_old That is literally just regurgitating Omori's logic. Sunny did not mean to hurt his sister let alone kill her. It was a heated moment that resulted in her falling down the stairs....an unfortunate accident that he...a child...could barely process (which is why Omori exists) Omori is simultaneously the way Sunny navigates around what he has done....and at the same time is the major bar holding him back from forgiving himself for something that he cannot change. Sunny caused Mari's death but he did NOT kill her...Sunny pushed her away in frustration....and she fell down the stairs because she lost her balance. The distinction is that he did not MURDER her....which is the action of killing. His guilt is what tries to tell him he did...but he didn't. You cannot accidentally murder someone, (short of intending to beat them within an inch of their life) It's not easy to say....but as true as "it was an accident" doesn't change what happened....it does give context. If Mari and Sunny had been a few feet further from the stairs and did the same push we'd brush it off as a normal sibling interaction when things get stressful for them. I mean if you get the message of the game you'd understand that what is being said is that Sunny is putting too much burden on his own shoulders for a thing that happened, didn't have the mental capacity to digest and subsequently was broken by. Sunny is just a kid...I know people get all groany when that point is made but it's true...Sunny is a child. What happened cannot be pinned on him as though he was able to be cognisant of consequences....no child is
Joey Little but theres a definition of doing something reckless that causes the death of someone, called manslaughter. he's still at fault of mari's death. he did deserve what happened to him, but he deserves to overcome it too
Obviously he hasn't gotten over it yet. Everything we went through in the game was just like the beginning of him getting over it. Overcoming is something much more complicated than what we went through in the game. We'll be with the guilt for years but one day, Sunny will be able to get over it.
The original is already really sad. Kind of like raw emotion where Sunny is trying to desperately fight off Omori and, while slim, has some chance at actually succeeding. This one feels more heavy than pure sadness- if that makes sense. Like more depressing or melancholic. I saw someone mention that this would fit well for a Hikikomori battle and I agree. To me, this version makes it feel like the battle is unbeatable. Mainly because it feels less like desperate attempts to fight off Omori and more like he’s already given up before the fight’s even started. Or, more like this is too much/too big for Sunny to be able to fight.
Imagine if Omori came to represent Sunny's despair as well as his guilt. The canon fight hit me like a truck, but putting emphasis on Sunny thinking all hope for the friend group is lost? That would be like slowly driving said truck over the player's body over and over and over again while they simultaneously feel as if they are drowning. I personally understand such a melancholy, as it is the true face of *depression.*
and in the song "good morning" in the good ending, you can see it says "the morning starts without me", being true, because most people with depression or anxiety can feel lazy, unmotivated, or can find themselves not wanting to *wake up*, because they don't want to deal with *life*, or are just *stressed out*
fr omori is an undertale/earthbound inspired game, so it makes sense that omori is in all ways the opposite of undertale pacifist of undertale, you discover the truth abt asriel and fight him, and it all resolves and everyone returns and you all live happily on the surface. in sunny route of omori, you discover the truth abt mari and fight yourself, and you tell the truth to your friends, and then leave them forever in genocide of undertale, you kill all in your way and chara gives you the options to erase or do not. both have lasting effects on the game. in the hikkikomori route, you stay asleep skipping the real world and unlock more adventure in headspace, and you never discover the truth and all is forgotten.
There's a difference with this one than "Omori did not succumb" I think it means that he's not ready to forgive himself yet because he's scared of the others (Like Hero and Aubrey. Not sure about Kel). And every time Sunny defeated Omori, Omori won't give up. Sunny wants to forgive himself and move on, but to Omori, it's just more pain. So I am assuming that in the bad ending (or if this is even canon), Omori makes Sunny jump to his death, as to run away permanently. And what makes it more sad is having the same mindset as Sunny. You killed your brother/sister, your friend helps you, you feel guilty, you try to run away from this nightmare but it still keeps coming back. And though I haven't attempted to murder my siblings yet, I know how he feels. ... He's trying to erase Sunny the same way he tried erasing the bad memories of Mari and her death.
