So glad to hear them together! Loved Herbie in the 1980's when I first discovered him...found Gulda later, if you can believe it, as I was classical pianist for a short while.

This is of course Herbie´s territory, having
played this tune regularly with Miles, he is particularly relaxed and self-assured, unlike
on "Night and Day" from the same concert.
However Gulda contributes to the music in original and unortodox fashion and is able
to hold his own even here. Amazing musician!

The Great Legend Herbie Hancock not assured at the piano. 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Herbie is magnificent on the tune and swings if with soul.

Very imaginative jazz! I think the "swing feel" was not so important on that interpretation,(although Herbie swings a lot and Goulda swings a little bit less). The most important thing is these guys playing with harmonies and rhythms like kids discovering new toys! Great moments, thank you for posting

Fantastic! What a great song, and it was my first time hearing Gulda and I LOVED HIM. Nice camera work, how many cameras did you have!? Surprise ending-really sweet and informative too. Thanks for sharing.

Unlike "Night and Day" clip where Gulda totally dominated the proceedings, here he and Herbie actually made some music together. And, might I add, Gulda is still the only classical virtuoso that could swing and speak the jazz language.

Hi Rick, thank you for your comment, not sure what you meant by "herbie was playing within himself" perhaps you meant "playing with himself?".....(:)).Seriously, Herbie should know "all blues" by now having played it zillions of times with Miles and elsewhere. I think he probably called it and Gulda probably called "Night and Day"
Given that most jazz people have never even heard of Gulda, whereas Herbie is an idol to most younger jazz musicians, I find it funny that Gulda beats Herbie at his own game. I cannot imagine the disaster if Herbie had to play a classical piece with Gulda. Sorry, I know it's not a competition, but I can't help comparing them.
      Cheers!
