@Gnome Socks it’s an exercise of canon 915, it is our duty as Catholics to prepare ourselves and confess our sins before being admitted to holy communion St. Paul tells us in the scripture that someone who is not worthy to receive then they cast a sentence upon themselves. By her openly defying church teaching and committing mortal sin publicly and still receiving communion tells other people that they can stay obstinate in mortal sin and still receive communion with the Church’s blessing which is not ok, that’s called scandal which is a sin itself. It’s also not good for her because she’s committing mortal sin and the church knowing it is letting her. It’s the job of the bishop to be our spiritual father and guard the faith and correct others when they are in sin. It’s not conservative if your just doing your job description. Canon 915 puts an obligation on him to do this. There is no religious persecution here no one is forcing her to be Catholic if she wants to do the things she’s doing then she shouldn’t call herself a Catholic.
@Gnome Socks I never disputed that she had freedom of religion she can do whatever she wants. However, what she says is directly in opposition with the teachings of the Church and thus not Catholic. And what I said isn’t incorrect read the 1983 Code of Canon law, Canon 915. And also read Catechism of the Catholic Church paragraphs 2270-2273 which vindicate my claims. I don’t see how anything you said is proved by your father being a deacon.
@Gnome Socks Also what specifically are you saying is incorrect? Are you saying the Code of Canon law and Holy Scripture is incorrect because that’s what I cited in my first response?
@Gnome Socks I’m Roman Catholic myself. I never said I was conservative I’m simply citing what’s found in the catechism, canon law and scripture I’m not judging anything, I don’t believe you should apply a conservative label to him because he’s carrying out his job as canon law instructs him to. What are you talking about false messiah? I never said I was the messiah, do you actually have a rebuttal or do you only have logical fallacies and opinions to offer? How about you actually look at what I said and prove I’m wrong.

Freedom of religion and freedom of politics, so to speak, are two different things. Saying the Archbishop should be removed just because his beliefs don't align with San Francisco is silly. A politician should represent the will of the people in an area. A religious leader doesn't have to. A religious leader only needs to represent the religion they belong to and it's up to people whether they belong to that religion or not. No one is making them be part of any particular religion.
Ummm the thing is the Catholic Church is authority, it operates on apostolic succession, they have a Pope. The Magisterium has authority to context Scripture, write letters to the bishops to address the laity etc. They have Authority over the laity when the laity publicly sin and they proclaim they’re Catholic in a political setting to push an agenda. When they contradict the Catholic Churches teachings and moral code. So yes the Bishop has Authority to deny communion and ex communicate her. She’s an individual not the government.
Archbishop Cordileone does not need to be in step with San Francisco. On the contrary San Francisco Catholics need to be in step with the Archbishop, and there is nothing shameful about the Archbishop carrying out his duty responsibly.

This is a well thought out and nuanced position. This is probably the very thing the archbishop did wrestle with leading up to his decision. I can’t say I fully disagree with you either. What I would really like every serious person to do in regards to this debate do is really search their souls and ask themselves, “why do we live in a society where a woman feels so alone and abandoned by her fellow citizens that an abortion seems like her best option? Why would the gift of life ever be a hurdle or burden? How can we better nurture and protect vulnerable women and children?”
I agree, the bishops moralizing seems intentionally selective. Unless he’s also refused communion to others for similar “evil” actions. Why does he get to refuse her communion with God?
Maybe Mrs P needs to rethink her “religion”? If she calls herself Catholic, and doesn’t abide by it’s creeds, she’s fooling herself. She’s just cozying up to impress others and feel righteous.
Just because she doesn't agree with the leaders of the club she isn't allowed to have a personal connection with God? Being Catholic is more cultural than religious for some people it seems. Organized religion is a racket and serves mostly those in power within the Church. The message of religion is what's of real value, a bishop means nothing without the message of Christ's love and sacrifice. "The scandal she is causing" what a laughable statement from a man more focused on denying access to medical care for women instead of sending a message of peace, or financially helping the mothers and infants in his diocese instead of purchasing fancy clothes and jeweled scepters.
The speaker has gone down this road on her own volition. The Archbishop is simply acting in a responsible fashion. He's been placed in a difficult position and is acting appropriately.
@@jasonscott6174 I think the church should take this stance. Because they haven’t we are now at infanticide being okay too. I’m not okay with that. Of course there are always exceptions(mothers physical health) but otherwise if a woman can get past 16 weeks she can bring the baby to term and adopt out. Imo. A Catholic in office should never be the advocate for abortions.
Those who emphasize the good effects of religion never seem to realize that such effects fail to demonstrate the truth of any religious doctrine. This is why we have terms such as "wishful thinking" and "self-deception." There is a profound distinction between a consoling delusion and the truth.

@@robh3007 Not true I may or may not have a problem with the baby dieing, but thats secondary to the womans right to her own body. Abortion may be immoral but it should still be legal. Government doesn't exist to legislate morality, it exists to protect the rights of its citizens. Should you be forced to donate blood or organs because someone might die if you don't?
@@dannielz6 No, that's where you're wrong. Actually every point of your argument is demonstrably wrong, and I will show you why: It isn't secondary. An innocent baby being slaughtered for a mistake that wasn't his or her fault is, and should be the primary consideration far, far above a woman's right to her body. I'm not arguing that a woman doesn't have a right to her own body, but there's a third party involved. the BABY'S body. The baby isn't a part of the woman. The baby isn't an extension or extremity of the woman, like a liver or a limb or an appendix. It's a completely separate entity, biologically distinct, with it's own DNA, own genetic coding and it's own life. And yes, all legislation legislates morality. If you follow every single law down to its basic premise, you will find that all laws legislate morality. ALL LAWS. No, you should not be forced to donate blood or organs, but here's the primary fault with that argument: We have certain obligations to our offspring that we don't have to total strangers. For example, if there were children starving in your city, is it the morally upright thing for you to do something about it? Yes. Are you legally liable if you don't? No. But if your OWN children are suffering from malnutrition or neglect, THEN, you'll quickly find out it becomes a moral AND a legal problem for you the parent, and you are then accountable.
@@dannielz6 Furthermore, no, it isn't a raped woman that causes her predicament. But that argument is dishonest and disingenuous, and here's why: If you're arguing for the 1% of cases of pregnancies that result from rape, then we can have that debate. But you're not, and let's don't pretend that you are. You think that abortion should be legal. That's your words, not mine. And by that, one can only assume you mean abortion on demand, for any reason, if any of your other flawed arguments are any indication. Or are you only arguing for abortion being legal only in cases of rape? Because if you're saying abortion ON DEMAND should be legal, then why are we wasting time arguing about the relatively rare instance of pregnancy resulting from rape? That's why people who trot out the rape/incest argument do it. Ultimately it's a diversionary tactic to distract from having an honest discussion.
If a person claims a religion... then they should abide by their faith and be held accountable to that faith. Politics aside! Of course I'm saddened that Biden and Pelosi claim the Catholic faith...as they appear to be two of the most disingenuous people on the planet...

True, but people of a certain faith have advocated for removal of leaders in that faith before.

@@matt7561 ... yeah, and? Doesn't change that the Bible clearly lays out that life begins at birth, when the baby takes it's first breath. So many contradictions.
@@matt7561... except that the fetus in the womb was not 'leaping for joy', it was simply doing what every other fetus does, moving. Pelosi is the devils advocate and in the process of helping ruin this country she has insanely benefited financially.

“I've noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.” ― Ronald Reagan
"Ive noticed that everyone who wants to force women to deliver a baby with their body against their will, dont want to be forced to do things with their own bodies against their will"
@@dannielz6 I've noticed that those who don't want women to be forced to deliver a baby against their will sure don't have any problem forcing that baby to pay the ultimate consequence and suffer the death penalty for his or her parents' irresponsibility and inability to take ownership of the predicaments they create.
When was the Catholic religion held responsible for covering up multiple child abuse cases?
🤪
Exactly, regardless of how ridiculous that religion may be.

The devil isn't allowed communion. Good job
The state senator that is opposing the archbishop is the one who is shameful! The archbishop did his duty In communion with the successor of Saint Peter Who Jesus Christ commission to build his Church. The archbishop is denouncing evil. That’s senator as well as anyone else can go kick rocks
And he is calling for the Archbishop's removal, (as if he has any power) and to be replaced by someone more in step with San Francisco! Translation, He wants someone more liberal than Archbishop Cordelione to further their liberal policies which in most cases is not in step with the Catholic church!! He is delusional and should stay out of church politics which are none of his business!
TAX THEM !!!
Why? For doing his pastoral duty in calling a public high profile flagrant sinner to repentence? You are a child!
I'll bet the church is more than happy to accept her money. LOL.
Maybe some of them - yes. But this guy was brave enough to stand up for his values. We should respect that ...
@@anna_w HIS not God's. God never denies LOVE...especially to those that need it the most! That priest has it backwards!

@@vickiealexander2910 Probably he will. I don't think SHE would try to give any money to his community either.
I think there are priests who can stay quiet and take money (hopefully a minority). He is the one that can protect what he believes in, no matter how much money he can lose. Still - I really admire him for that. Money is not everything...
And I highly doubt the Catholic Church NEEDS her filthy money
Supporters of the church should stop donating. The Catholic Church has taken enough from the people and doesn't deserve the money.

Wait? The catholic church has morality? Since when?

You don't NEED communion to be "saved."

@@MindfullyCatholicChristian what tenet of the Catholic religion discusses child molestation.
I could shake ur hand on this one🙏
Yes...child abusers should pay for there crimes. If you want to find child abusers, you dont have to look far. Just go to your nearest government controlled public school and you will find many groomers who are abusing kids right now.

His obedience was not supported.

Can a priest that touches children receive communion? Asking for a friend that was given a special hug by a priest.
If you actually have a friend who suffered abuse, I’m truly sorry to hear that, and you should encourage them to come forward with their alligation. The answer however to your very sarcastic question is just like Nancy Pelosi, if they truly repent, then yes, but unless they do, then no, they shouldn’t be receiving Holy Communion.

If that's the religion she is in and she is preaching against the teachings of the Catholic Church then it seems fair to me.
she is not preaching - her job requires her to have a stance on the issue. As she is responsible for the STATE at her job she can settle with her FAITH on her own time, not ours.
She has chosen to honor Federal law as it currently stands - for now at least - and again that is her job.

@@jnb756 Garbage logic IMO She is a cultural Catholic at best. When one identifies with a Faith that has clear theological positions (by their own volition) must accept the tenants of that faith. If they don't they are out side of said Faith both in belief and practice. Politian's are not a new phenomenon in world History, IMO she is acting as a biblical Pharisee. I agree, one day she will stand for account before God (as we all will) for her actions. But her position this does not absolve her.
@Cmore Butts If she is advocating for the killing of unborn children that is fair to me. I'm not a catholic and I'm not sure how it all works but if she is calling herself a catholic publicly, in leadership and then advocating for abortion...it goes against her church's teachings.
