I used to love this show as a kid and I remember well getting up in the morning, watching it, then grabbing my glove and bat and running to the school yard to meet friends and try implementing what I learned on the show.
I wish these episodes were available complete on DVD. Such a treat to see after all these years! My ten year old self use to watch this on Saturday mornings, then walk down the park and play. Thank you so VERY much
This is a very cool video. There is very little out there on Japanese baseball in terms of US media coverage... let alone in 1981! I wish MLB network would show the occasional NPB game sort of like the NHL Network shows the occasional European hockey game
Tough to do this show today. Bench and Lasorda were absolutely perfect, irreplaceable
TWIB was also great with Mel Allen.

I used to watch this show every Saturday. Every baseball fan should go and watch a baseball game in Japan at least once. It is unbelievably fun!
@@AlbanianMan ...Yes. I saw the Tokyo Giants play the Chunichi Dragons in the Tokyo Dome in 2018.
aregua1 I want to go to an Orix Buffaloes game
Tommy Lasorda R.I.P
Just my opinion, but Lasorda was baseball's best ambassador. Rip, Tommy, forever Dodger Blue.

🎶 🎵 "Cause i got more hits
Then Sadahara Oh!"🎵🎶
Thank you Beasties!!
This was such a great little show...
That blonde haired kid was spot on! I knew it was babe ruth because of how he bent his knees.
And the fact that he pointed too
That music8:20 is a traditional yakuza theme, I love it
Legend has it that the little kid name Luis was actually Jose Altuve's dad.
I'd like to see what kind of a hitting coach he would have been here. He had such a great form.
Nice mention of Joey A., still working as special instructor in Gi-ants organization.
08:02 Wizard Tommy Lasorda for the win.
Would love to see Lasorda's blooper tapes from these segments, cover your ears!
@@wiedep RIP to the Dugout Wizard Tommy Lasorda

Cooperstown needs to change the rules and let Sadaharu Oh in. Maybe alongside Ichiro when it's his turn.
Ichiro will get in regardless. He has over 3000 MLB hits, and set single season hit records as a Mariner.
The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto inducts international players. They have a separate hall from the NHL players.
17:47.... Freddie!!!!
Nomo started first MLB game in 1995.
Wow a soda for 300 yen. Pretty expensive!
So did Vic Davalillo.
I used to watch this..... what was I thinking
Thinking shows these days are awful compare to this

The blonde kid is basically the typical biased American stereotype, if we never seen them in the US then they not good.
No , he is an actor portraying one
