I often wonder if people who are serving in the military watch these and are like “Dude, I have to eat this crap, you can literally have anything you want!”
Hey everyone, I have two videos out today. This one was pre-filmed back in April but sound issues prevented it's release. Just a low-key review of some Meal Kit Supply lightweight MRE's. If you are wanting to stock up on some not too expensive MRE's, this is one way to go and may be of interest. But for the rest of you guys it is one that is perfect to go to sleep to. I just filmed a perfectly edible WW2 ration last night and am editing tonight. Should be out in the next day or two. In the meantime I hope you enjoy this one - and the Spanish 24 hour Emergency Ration that is released along with this one. See you guys in the next day or two!
Used to take these hunting with me up in the Wisconsin northwoods. Granted, I wasn't that far out in the sticks, there was a supper club we'd go to for dinner. But man, when you're out in the woods in mid-November Wisconsin weather and you can have a hot lunch in 5 minutes, that hits the spot.
Two thoughts: 1) Steve is great. He has the most chill personality on RUclips. 2) Putting the toaster pastry in the heating element with the main course would probably make it better.
I really feel like MKS could make a killing with doing a breakfast/lunch/dinner set of this case and remove pop tarts from lunch and dinner and replace with a cracker/bread component.
There definitely good for kids. I'm in central florida and the last hurricane we lost power for a week. She ate both the spaghetti packs. These are great to throw in the closet for emergencies.
That is the number one pro of this ration - it is perfect for kids. Outside of that and being portable/lightweight I think it is somewhat lacking though.
Thekidd d Same here, Central Florida. We went without power for almost a week before it was restored. Hoping this season will be better than the last couple seasons.
Where do you buy these? We live in Jacksonville,FL we were fine only a few hours without power but would like have these on hand and it will save space.
I recently found your channel and have been watching your videos out of order. Not sure when you started playing with the sound of mixing the drinks, but it always makes me smile! Nice little touch!
anyone else able to picture steve out in an apocolyptic wasteland, sitting under a car and making these mres saying all this stuff to himself? its pretty nice
I picture Steve sitting under a tree gazing at a mushroom cloud while taking a drag off of a vintage MRE cigarette before taking a swig of coffee instant type II.
I like to picture Steve still filming these in a fortified base made of all MRE components, aluminum trays and wetnaps for their uncanny strength. With an eyepatch and no hand but an MRE spoon as a replacement, blasting Claypool.
Excellent coverage as usual. Love your content. It seems like you're touring more modern rations lately, which I prefer... because I worry about your health, Steve, but I also tend to buy fresher rations. Nice work.
Hey Goose! Hey, no worries I will have a WW2 Ration out sometime this weekend so you can watch both new videos now and still have something to look forward to in the very near future.

Hey Steve. Your videos have been such a great help for me recently since I've been dealing with a lot. They actually inspired me to go out and find an old C-ration and experience what you do with all of these videos. I know I'm talking about C-Rations and this is a modern MRE video but I wanted you to see this so I could thank you personally and I figured your most recent upload, I would be my best chance. Right now I have such an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. I just smoked a cigarette out of a C-ration from 1966 while drinking a cup of coffee, instant out of a Vietnam war era mess kit canteen cup. It blew my mind and I understand why you enjoy it so much now! All that I can say is.. "nice!" Its amazing what watching a crazy man go and eat food that no one would typically touch with a 10 foot pole could do to help you. Keep doing what you do Steve!
My eyes flipped out of my skull when you said you were reviewing spaghetti in meat sauce mre, and you are exactly right about how well fitting that meal can be for children. Back when I was a kid my dad was chief of police here in our town, and he would get surplus mres a dime a dozen. He would take us out fishing and camping right by our house since we were near woody trails\a lake. We would take our little spaghetti dinners with yellow powdered lemonade and they typically came with strawberry 🍓 pastries/sometimes unfrosted. Right in the nostalgia 🤧

The "civilian MRE" companies just put a handful of MRE entree items that are in production that year in each little custom printed baggie and resell them for a hefty markup.
Now that Steve has cooked, freeze dried, rehydrated and eaten an entire Thanksgiving dinner, I think he’s ready to produce his own MREs. Its nice to see that there isn't always someone whose only desire is to piss someone off or be mean just for their own entertainment. I thank Steve for that alone. His genuine passion for what he does shows 100% and makes it nearly impossible for negativity to exist. How can you possibly say something mean about someone who is so genuinely happy about what he does? Thank you Steve.
Another thing, this is to you Steve. Im not a youtuber but I feel like being branded for just something like a couple of phrases or tag lines has to be frustrating when you want to be known for more than just saying "nice" or "lets get this out onto a tray" , has to be frustrating. But even though it seems like that's all people care about, its not the case. There is a genuine interest in your content. Not just your catch phrases. Stay cool Steve.
I looked at the website. You get just the entree and a pop tart for $130 for a box of 12? That seems really pricy. You can get a box of mres on eBay for like $80 including shipping.
I'd just go with tinned food for emergency supplies. Way cheaper and more calories. If it's weight you're worried about, you can get a dozen freeze dried hiking meals for about the same price.
gotta say, i super appreciate the comprehensive commentary on the ration as he goes. it's really cool how he gives scenarios or circumstances in which you could decide how you would use the item, as well. (i also really like the cheeky editing)
I just realize, when I am angry or stressed with someone or something and I watch Steve's videos, my anger or stress dissipates. This is one of the ASMR's that I don't find irritating.
The drink kinda looks like dishwasher drying agent, and probably gives you a purple tongue. It's like an emergency kids meal to get them to stop fighting at the campsite.
It really does have the look of that! I think it's a kid's MRE for sure - cannot think of many other purposes for it other than being lightweight and extremely portable. But it really lacks in menu variation for anyone outside what a kid would really enjoy.
How quickly do these expire? Walking dead scenarios comes to mind. Love this channel. Steve you're handsome and awesome. You even musically tune spoon tapping against glass, nice touch.
These lightweights are also good for motorcycle trips; you can even use the bag they came in for the garbage to store until you find a garbage can somewhere. They use little water for the heater, and you don't even have to heat them for them to still be edible. Even stuffing the heated meal (spaghetti for example) in your jacket or under your motorcycle seat should warm it up while you're riding. You're gonna drink the water, may as well toss some gatorade powder in the bottle and give it a shake. Though the spaghetti one says grape, it came out blue. Could it have been the generic blue raspberry flavor?
I still hardly understand why, but I'll sit and watch Steve videos for hours, even if it's one I've already seen. They're so strangely relaxing and interesting. It's kinda ASMR-ish, and it's interesting because otherwise I'd never see most of these MREs or foods.
god damnit steve, two videos in a day?! my heart can't take this much pressure it feels like it's gonna collapse ohh yep i can feel myself starting to fade away
Nooo! Don't leave us! Stay with me - someone get this man a sandwich and those little shock paddle things that George Clooney used on that one show back in the 90s!
I'm revisiting this MRE in preparation for Christmas. 4 great nephews and nieces to feed. Now the Rugrats can feed themselves and have fun doing it! I must throw in some Skittles and M&Ms.
I wish I could be as satisfied as Steve appears to be about everything, the sauce isn't too watery, the food is so filling, the flavours are so subtle!
i have been watching steve's videos for the past 3 years, and i don't remember i single time i haven't laughed out loud when he stirs the drink and does the spoon taps.

0:26 Somebody please tell me I'm not the only one who at the "alright!" had a flash of him putting the entire case on a tray.
gotta say, i super appreciate the comprehensive commentary on the ration as he goes. it's really cool how he gives scenarios or circumstances in which you could decide how you would use the item, as well.
But part of the fun for kids (of all ages) is looking/trying all the bits and pieces that come in a ration. These are underwhelming.
Looks like the sadist who's packaging these MRE's is stealing the other half to your poptarts lmao.
One for you, one for me, one for you, two for me...
I had plenty of these! These are the rations handed out whenever hurricane Harvey hit our town
I smile every time the spoon dings. Thanks for your videos Steve
I live in Florida and have some of these stocked in case of hurricanes knocking out power. Was glad to have these during Irma.
I love how you edit the video when you are fixing a drink
Have to appreciate he little jingle he does everytime when stirring the drinks
2:04
Me: "Ah, strawberry toilet paper-"
Steve: "A strawberry toaster pastry"
Me: "toaster pastry, of course, of course."
Things my cafeteria lady never said: "Let's get this out on a tray. Nice!"
Love the video Steve keep them badass videos a coming your fan from Apple valley cal
Right on Jeremey, thanks bro. Will do man I got another coming out sometime this weekend so stay tuned!
I still hardly understand why, but I'll sit and watch Steve videos for hours, even if it's one I've already seen. They're so strangely relaxing and interesting. It's kinda ASMR-ish, and it's interesting because otherwise I'd never see most of these MREs or foods.
I've not seen these lightweight MRE's before. They look like fun. My grandkids would really love them.
WHOOHOOOO! Been waiting for another video! AND it’s my day off so I can watch it in peace 🔥🙌🏽🙌🏽
Right on, CHiEF! Happy Friday man - hope these two new videos start off your evening right man
Is this the red pasta edition or did you just get lucky?

Nooo! Don't leave us! Stay with me - someone get this man a sandwich and those little shock paddle things that George Clooney used on that one show back in the 90s!
it's too late for me, save yourself and the MREs....
menu number2 your lime drink look like radio activ lol great video Steve
It really did have the look, huh? Like it could glow in the dark! hehe thanks man glad ya liked this one
heinekenboy The drink reminded me of yellow-green highlighter ink. 😂
I pee that color after two rip it’s and a mountain dew
I'm revisiting this MRE in preparation for Christmas. 4 great nephews and nieces to feed. Now the Rugrats can feed themselves and have fun doing it! I must throw in some Skittles and M&Ms.
I wish I could be as satisfied as Steve appears to be about everything, the sauce isn't too watery, the food is so filling, the flavours are so subtle!
I live for when it's on the tray and he says "nice, m'kay"
The drink looks like antifreeze.
Let’s get this onto a tray! Nice! Mmkay
By far the best mre reviewer I've seen. I watch you every night
i have been watching steve's videos for the past 3 years, and i don't remember i single time i haven't laughed out loud when he stirs the drink and does the spoon taps.
Steve1989MREinfo, what made you want to do videos about different military rations? Just curious?
Heck yeah!! Perfect for just getting off work!
Hey Austin! Happy Friday, man. Hope these two videos start off your weekend right!
