In this project I will be showing you how to create a simple overhead camera rig. The rig can not only hold the camera right above the object you want to film, but it also features a monitor to observe the footage and LED illumination to perfectly light your scene. The main materials are PVC pipes and wood and thus this rig is pretty easy to replicate. Let's get started!

Nah, Clives not interested. Nothing required the Explosive Containment Dish.....
@@dj_paultuk7052 wrong you mean: Explosive Containment Pie Dish :D
I'd like Big Clive to read me a bed time story.
I clicked on this video to make the comment you already have. Good work.

A camera robot with x y z roll etc would be a interesting future project!
Edit: Thanks for so much likes!
I can put it on my to do list
What about the roll and pitch axis?:)
Kernels yes why not? A new interesting DIY or BUY episode;)
You just watched MKIBHD RIGHT?

By looking at the book, it seems that some serious hardcore Electrical stuff is coming soon!
#true story👀😂
This is what I love as a tech youtuber
I love this channel. Even watching the project videos I have no interest in even doing, the knowledge gained is very beneficial. Thank you for your the work you do and sharing it.
This channel is truly the best electronics channel on RUclips,
Dear Scott, you are a genius clairvoyant.
I am so glad your intro has not been copyright claimed.
How?
This channel is getting much better everyday
What a great project. It's very practical and I'm sure you'll use it a lot in your work!
No high or mains voltage, medium difficult project. Excellent!
You truly are the greatest Scott.
Maybe this will lead to a whole new world of electronic adventure!!! Great video!!
Awesome, I think this is the nicest thing you've made yet. keep up the great work
GREAT SCOTT, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL PROJECT!!! IT CAME TOGETHER AMAZINGLY, NICE JOB!!! 😁👌
Well thought out and implemented! Bravo!
Another great project. Super interesting following the assembly step by step. Thanks for sharing!
Love your Little project because its things that you actualy need ! So its well thinked Nice work
Thanks you for all your videos, but THANK YOU for this video.
Love your creative spirit.
Adding sand to those pipes was very clever. I was bit worried first about the stability of rig but it was unnecessary
This project is amazing
Thanks :-)
Things I feel that I have a firm grasp on:
Programming and electronics.
Things I do not feel that way about: making things out of wood.
This was a very informative video
Excellent project 👍
Very nice project and not extremely expensive. I intend to copy it! Thanks for the very detailed video!
Awesome stuff. How much was the total would be with out camera and monitor for this project would be. And how much time the whole thing took. Some times, time cost more ;( thanks again.
Nice project! And this is the first time I've seen what you look like. I've been thinking about some sort of lighting device for my desk and this has given me a few ideas. Thanks.
Great video from GreatScott!
I will probably end up making something similar and inspired by this design myself, for I want to also start streaming stuff, and this looks like a PERFECT way to stream my content.
Cool. Congrats on the make. Seems like a nicely done yet inexpensive thing. Have a nice experience using it. :)
You are great teacher in the world.
I always wait for your next video.
Thanks man
No problem. You're welcome :-)
2:18 that fast 3d printing are so satisfying.
I think this is a good idea. Looking forward to the new look of your content using this setup.
Good idea with the sand in the base!
That was really neat !
Still waiting to get started... me wants to get started!
Fantastic project
Thanks for sharing :-)
this is great project, thanks for sharing
I really like this idea does anyone else?
yeah me2
Yes I love this project. I'd really like to build it for a new channel I recently made that will be shooting video from overhead. I had planned to use a tripod but this setup is much better as it combines the camera support and lighting into one stable fixture.
That's really great ! Looking forward for next video using this jig :D
You might want to consider making this a white box. Magnets with detachable side white-panels, or
roll-down white cloth would give you more uniform illumination. Also, side mounted glancing angle
light strips would allow you to photograph highly reflective samples. Nice video!
This is amazing!!!
That's actually a great idea! 😃
Maybe I make mine exactly like that!
Excited for the next
That is what I was looking for. Great Scott. Thank you.
You're welcome :-)
fantastic work
Hey man. I had thought about this same thing!
I had also designed a page flipper mechanism,
But alas i did not make it.
But you are always there!!awesome video man!
How?
Thats actually perfect for some projects like teardown and stuff its basically a microscope but bigger and does not zoom very far
Cool idea !
Great Scott, I am your big fan and thank you
Thank you and you are welcome :-)
Neat work. Aprishiate your time.
I'm looking forward to seeing the books. And I think it's good for your channel
Great Scott
Great video.
Looking forward to the "ancient circuits". Going to bring back memories from my Faculty years
Great idea. I use a clear piece of plexiglass and just rest my smart phone camera on top (blocks to hold the plexi). With zoom, it's great for soldering SMDs.
ssssssssstay creative, and I will see you next time!
Great project!
Hi; Well done, I use aluminium extruded profiles for all my projects, I used Bosch Rexroth because I could find them easily on RS components.
In my case, the extra costs compensate less work.
"Stay Creative!" reminds me of Cinecom.net
Great work by the way
Damn dat kind of "NEXT TIME !" 😂❤️
I want to build something like that but with adjustable height, you gave me some good ideas tnx
Very nice video 👍
Great video
Nice project! I think about to take this idea to build a LED lamp for my workbench ...
Sure, go for it :-)
nicely done
Great Scott is talking so calmly that I woke up without learning anything single thing
Your soldering is so satisfying im jealous... Can you please make an electronics basics video about mosfet drivers, and when to use them, and when only a pulldown resistor is enough?
One improvement I would've made to this design is some light diffusion over the LED strips. Acetate sheets and a power sander with 400 grit sandpaper does the job in no time. Just make sure to do both sides of the sheet for even diffusion.
Awesome project! Quick suggestion, please try using fusion 360, you can make your 3d printed parts look cleaner and more ergonomic, it really isn't complicated to learn, and once you've mastered it, it is totally worth it!
Is fusion360 free?
GreatScott! It is for hobbyists, students, and very small shops
GreatScott! It’s totally web based
@@greatscottlab Absolutely free for hobbyists and students, do try it out
@@greatscottlab I agree, I've been using fusion 360 and it's free to hobbyists students, and business that make less than a certain amount per year. I'm planning on using it a lot once I finish my 3d printer build. It also let's you simulate and test out your design for strength and vibrations in the simulation tab and you can do all sorts of other things with it like sending your designs out to a prototyping company for things you want built more durable than 3d printing like milled aluminum, etc. Also has options for making g code for milling, laser engraving/cutting, and much much more.
Come on guys, you can't just mention fusion 360 without mentioning all the other awesome stuff it can do.
Super video.. i like it.
Thanks for another great video! What is the watch you are wearing?
You could mod it to be a teleprompter as well ;)
Good job as always btw^^
Nice build. For future reference, the standard for camera mounts is Imperial 1/4”-20. (1/4” diameter by 20 threads per inch.) You might find more options for mounting your camera looking for regular hardware than camera specific hardware. Looks like you had to 3d print a spacer to use your “special camera screw.”
Jerry rig everything needs one of these
Very Groovy!
Nice box
Quick tip for accurately measuring mounting holes for things. Don't try and measure the centres, measure from the left (or right) edge of both holes, much more accurate and easier to see.
Best of the bests
Well that's a great idea to make abs enclousure for printing abs also if u can add graphs tracing paper and light all sides and white sheet on middle u can also make photostudio diy in home
@@vacoff2717 thanks mate ❤
that see you next time hit differently this time
Good idea
Good topic
May I suggest a topic for the next video ,
I would like to know how to create or build , design our own circuit and how to select the values of active and passive components .
Dude, that is what my whole channel is about.
@@greatscottlab But in every video circuit is already built and planned all the values of passive components
@@greatscottlab and also all the videos are made based on Arduino micro controller programming so , at least make video which explain how to learn Arduino programming for all who doesn't know even basics in programing . I seriously come under this category so , I feel a little more difficult to understand the video involving programing.
Thanks a lot for considering my comment.
I made videos about Arduino programming as well as videos about all kinds of electrical components and how to use them. Just look on my channel. There are over 200 videos about electronics.
@@greatscottlab okay , I will check those out ...
Thanks
That book must contain some ancient history about electronics and stuff
It's like you read my mind. I need this, thanks for the ideas. Also, cool watch. What is it?
@Jackzerry's gonna love this project 😊😊😍😍
You are great bro
I like you videos
Thanks mate :-)
@@greatscottlab 🤗😍
@GreatScott!
Which camera and lens do you use? Nice tutorial as always...
The enthusiasm at the end. 😂
Nice one! I've been designing something similar, but I want my camera to be able to macro zoom onto SMD circuits as well. The hard part is designing a movable camera mount so I can smoothly move the camera closer to the work piece. Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?
What is that marker your were using on the PVC and aluminium? Seems really good!
I would love to see more with Screens, Maybe a high quality OLED TV/Display.
great video tough i would use screws with brackets or even hose clamps instead of zips ties it looks a bit cheap. also a small box could be used to hide the electronics and even hinges to change the angle of the camera!
i like this
You may have problems with anything shiny, even the book is beginning to reflect light directly into the camera, may have been better to put the lights around the perimiter of the frame, have had problems with that myself.
终于更新了😃
Great project!
I have an idea for a new project- Can you build DC to AC pure sine wave inverter? I know, you made one making modified square wave, but this would be really interesting, at least for me, because I am interested in inverters and I even want to make one as school project and that would really help me..
Thank you for your amazing content!
Yes I'm into inverters also!
I really like to know how many books you have and the content of the books
If you add the upper part of the head of a camera tripod to your construction you can easily attach and detach the camera :)
