When you get sober with someone who you used with for quite some time and then one day the relapse and you have to leave because if you don’t, you know where this will go,always. but it’s so hard to not be around them. Specially with the holidays coming.

I felt everything you said.
Its been 4 years since we parted ways. Yet it always feels like he is always there. It was a toxic relationship. We both aren't meant to be. But Damn I never felt any connection so strong.
It took me an year. A complete year of darkness to heal through what i went through. For believing his lies, For giving in even when I could see through his ways. I just kept hoping one day he would realise the love I have for him and we'll make each other better. But he never realised and it kept getting worse. I had to let it go to keep my sanity.
I still see him in dreams sometimes, he says all the right things. But I know that's just my subconscious comforting me. When you love someone with everything you got, the love that doesn't expect and just keeps flowing. I feel that's the unconditional love. That's the love that never fades.
I have accepted that my love for him will never end. It'll always be a part of him. But him, No!!!! Its better to have him as a memory than the choice of a toxic relationship.
And people here are saying... Time heals. That's true time does heal the wounds, but love ,the memories... Nooo that never fades away. It'll always be a part of you.
P. S. I am in a very happy relationship now. Its been 2 years and my partner is just amazing. Its like he took pieces of me and put it altogether. We love each other very much and it feels very peaceful and comforting to be in a genuine relationship.
