Got the same car a year ago. And have to say i am really happy with it! Especially like this car in a long trips. Very convenient seats. Your videos have teach me a lot about this car. Thank you buddy! Wish you the best with this excellent car.
I have owned Sharan 2011 highline for 220 000 km, I like the car but it is not the cheap car to maintain. I have had to repair/replace the following right side sliding door electronics (door control unit, sliding door motor, aux motor for the lock), Left side sliding door control unit, breaks front and back + rotors, back wheel bearings, rear struts, clutch and flywheel, cambelt, adblue heater, glow plungs, egr valve, aircon compressor. Yes I know that most are parts that you have replace after a while, but price of the parts are high and a lot of electric faults on this car. But I live in the north so we have very cold winters and the car is made in warm Portugal. Great car to drive but some times the faults get you angry. Especially during winter time, doors are frozen, all kind of electrical issue. Some of these fixed with your videos so thank you. Keep up the great work.

I've done 55k miles in 2 years time on Ford grand cmax 1.6 tdci with no issues whatsoever. Not a single bulb had blown, still on my original wipers, tyres lasting 30k miles. At 50k all brake pads needed replacing which is not bad. Clutch remains super light and overall it still feels like new. Fords nowadays are sure getting the German durability.

That car in the video is on 415.000 miles now, which is about 670.000km. I think the car you looking to buy was either used as a taxi, or part of some company fleet. In those cases I would expect it to be in reasonably good condition, because if you have car for business you want it to be in working condition. However, I don't know history of it, so can't say much more. Good luck. 😊👍

Hi what type of your engine is? Just bought VW Passat 2.0 CR TDI 58reg with CBAB engine. Have you heard any opinions about this engine? Thanks in advance. Car is currently run on longlife oil. I don't trust these oils. Would you recommend changing every 9000-10000 miles? Many thanks and Merry Christmas!
Hi Piotr. My engine is CFFB, which is also common-rail. So far these engines have good reputation. Comparing to VAG previous PD engines that were not so amazing. I have seen two video reviews on RUclips from one mechanic 5 worst and 5 best VAG engines. So on a top 3 best he had 1.9tdi, 3.0tdi and 1st place - our common-rail 2.0 tdi. This engine is reliable (normally) and simple to maintain. My car has done 158.000 miles and still happy :) I don't know what are service intervals for long life and non-long life oils. I use long-life and change the oil every 9400 miles. It's a standard setting, when I reset the service on a dashboard.
I had a letter from local dealership, but I didn't ring them yet. I want to speak about it first. I think, they should provide all information about what effect it will give.
It's hard to say. In my case, they lasted over 400.000 miles! Despite being used and abused. I had one fixable issue. On the other hand, in taxi, you want to have something simple and basic that won't give you trouble. Imagine you have 6 passengers, and the one in 3rd row wants to be sick outside. Try to explain another drunk passenger on the 2nd row - DON'T TOUCH THE DOOR! It will open itself and it doesn't like to be interrupted 😉
What's your opinion on Discovery 4 from 2010 in terms of reliability please? Has it improved since disco3, sorry that question may not be under the correct topic though , Thanks
It's a good car. I've done another 30K from the video.. Apart from some minor issues, it goes like a tank. Unstoppable. I've got EGR light coming on time after time, so that will be good content for "how to" video. Also, some funny noise from the clutch, which works fine, but I think bearing needs to be checked. We'll get there eventually..
30 mpg is a bit low in my opinion, but it all depend how you driving, where you driving (motorway, hills, traffic, does it get to working temperature) If you just commuting and engine warms up only when you arrive - cold engine consumes more. Also American mpg are different to British. Mileage is irrelevant for me - this car is on 343.000 now and it drives like a dream.
@@wawayltd I drive in Birmingham city centre most time I have the car just 4 week last service was 10000 miles the car company told me that is long life service is every 20000
This car has 3 climate zones - left, right and rear. To control rear, press button "REAR", also you can apply same settings for all zones by pressing button with picture of lots of people. Rear climate zone has its own blower motor that's located behind trim under rear right quarter window, so it's separate from the front. If there's a fault with rear heater, then I can't help, because I don't have experience with that yet.
thanks for video . I have a Seat alhambra 2012 , and i just found i have no wheel spare and no jack. So i m trying to buy wheel with this formula wich I have on the car 7j 17H2 5x112 ET 39 but I didn't foud. I found something close 7j 17 5x112 ET 38 ...so will be this ok like a wheel spare ? thanks very much
Sorry Sergiu, I'm not good with these wheel numbers. Just had a look on Internet. 7 - wheel width in inches, J - passenger car, 17 - is diameter... as I understand 5x112 is the amount of holes for bolts and distance, so it will fit (good to know, I'll check with the wheel I have for my holiday trip). ET 39 or 38 is offset, there is only 1mm difference, so I believe at least as spare it will do. Here's what articles I used as reference: www.tyreleader.co.uk/tyres-advices/wheel-markings And here's about offset: shopdap.com/wheel-offset-explained/
I prefer manual gearboxes - simple and reliable. DSG's require maintenance. You'll be ok while mileage is low and covered by warranty. After that - I wouldn't want to be involved. I never had DSG, maybe that's just my phobia.
That's DSG gearboxes have bad reputation. Apparently newer ones supposed to be good... But I don't trust them (personal opinion). I have manual gearbox - simple and reliable. My car has over 180.000 miles on a clock (about 290.000km), all I had to do - change clutch recently. New one I've put in by myself, so I believe with good driving it will last forever.
thanks for the advice. unfortunately in my country (Singapore), Volkswagen is only available in automatic transmission. I like many features of the Sharan, but is worried about the durability of the gearbox. I'm likely to choose between Sharan and Honda Odyssey. Your RUclips clip is most helpful. :)
Yes. It folds horizontally, but it's not completely flat with other folded seats. Enough for me to carry a ladder. By the way, this car is on 380.000 miles. I'll get to 400.000 and probably make another video.
Anyone knows if Sharans with auto transmision ( DSG) have a lot of issues? Please help cause i want to buy one (2015 model) but evrybody tells me that, is true? Please advise..thnxx
I went for the manual, because DSG has not very nice reputation. Not sure about the latest ones though - some say they are improving. I still prefer manual, because it's simple, reliable, maintenance free (you have to change oil in DSG). All you care with manual is clutch once in a while, and with private use perhaps once in a lifetime ;)
We have a 2015 DSG 2.0 model and it drives like a dream. No issues at all. Lovely on motorways. Automatic has covered over 70k already and still feels very solid.
If you service and fix yourself (as my channel promoting) - doesn't cost that much. That car from the video is currently on 387.000 miles. I'm thinking to make another video when it reaches 400K
Thanks, Михайло :) Personally, I don't like my video, just done it for the sake of it, but the car is GOOD. By now I can say even more about it. Next week I'm planning to replace clutch and make a video. Will take some time to edit though..

@@paxancik Привод у меня передний. У меня есть теория, что мой Шаран так хорошо едет, потому что эксплуатируется каждый день и много, постоянно всё движется, смазывается и не застаивается. What was done you can see in my videos - I have playlist for Sharan. I can recommend really good Facebook group where you can get lots of advice. Try this:

My car has done 158.000 miles and still happy :)
I don't know what are service intervals for long life and non-long life oils. I use long-life and change the oil every 9400 miles. It's a standard setting, when I reset the service on a dashboard.
Yeah, thanks :) Merry Christmas to you, too! :)
Did you applied SW update on your Sharan? Any info would be appreciated if there is any noticeable change in performance or economy? Thank you.
I had a letter from local dealership, but I didn't ring them yet. I want to speak about it first. I think, they should provide all information about what effect it will give.
@@wawayltd hey I just bought a 2018 model with electric stuff and I would like to know your thoughts like is it good
Thank you very much 😉👍
You're welcome 👍
@@wawayltd thanks,my question:are electric doors good reliable and good for taxi or better to avoid?thank you
It's hard to say.
Igors Skapsts Спасибо :) Об этой машине будет снято ещё много чего...
What's your opinion on Discovery 4 from 2010 in terms of reliability please? Has it improved since disco3, sorry that question may not be under the correct topic though , Thanks
Never driven either of them. Whenever I'll get chance - definitely will express my opinion ;)
thanks for your insides mate.looking foward buying one soon.
Hello your videos helpful I have vw sharan 2016 automatic do about 30 mile in one gallon is that normal for this car is only 24500 miles
Thank you for this very good review. Is it possible to remove the center seat in middle row for easy passing to 3rd row?
I think it is possible, but I've never tried it. You know - these cars also come in luxury configuration with only 2 seats (comfy) in middle row.
Great video. I also have a Sharan, but with DSG. Looking forward for more videos regarding maintenance.
Thanks :) I'll do my best. Currently I also have Golf Mk4 1.9tdi, so will be busy doing some videos about that as well.
Did u have any issues with the gearbox so far??
can you help me with something my doesn't put hot air at rear do you know why??? thank's for your attention
This car has 3 climate zones - left, right and rear. To control rear, press button "REAR", also you can apply same settings for all zones by pressing button with picture of lots of people. Rear climate zone has its own blower motor that's located behind trim under rear right quarter window, so it's separate from the front. If there's a fault with rear heater, then I can't help, because I don't have experience with that yet.
i try it all and dont work thank you any way i will see with vw garage"s because winter arrived and i haven't hot clim thank you a lot
thanks for video .
Here's what articles I used as reference:
www.tyreleader.co.uk/tyres-advices/wheel-markings
And here's about offset:
shopdap.com/wheel-offset-explained/
thank s very much for help
How you drain the coolant out of that vw sharan?
I've never done it properly. Only when I replace cambelt part of it comes out. I believe there must be something on the bottom of a radiator.
Well done mate
Thanks! This car is on 350K miles now, I want to do another review on 400K.
wouldn't it be better if you had dsg gearbox ? your thoughts on dsg plz
I prefer manual gearboxes - simple and reliable. DSG's require maintenance. You'll be ok while mileage is low and covered by warranty. After that - I wouldn't want to be involved. I never had DSG, maybe that's just my phobia.
@@wawayltd thank you
Nice chanel, nice videos :) regards from Bulgaria :)
Благодаря :)
cheers mate. Love your videos 👍👌👏👏
How does this compare to grand picasso C4 Citroen?
Don't know, never had a Citroen.
I was expecting you to say about the mileage, that was your headings
The mileage is currently 422.000.
I heard that gearbox needs to be changed after 40,000 km. Did you have problem with gearbox?
@@yl1101 u just need to learn how to use DSG, thats all
Can you fold down the front passenger seat?
Yes. It folds horizontally, but it's not completely flat with other folded seats. Enough for me to carry a ladder. By the way, this car is on 380.000 miles. I'll get to 400.000 and probably make another video.
Good job! Great video
Thanks :)
I have problem with the clutch al ready two burned in hill in first moving is problem
This car is on 360.000 miles I replaced clutch twice..
very good and usefull!
please keep on going :)
Thanks :)
I purchased sharan sel 67 reg today but I can’t see the speedometer so ennoying do anybody have any idea 💡 thanks for ur help msgs
Are you saying that car doesn't show the speed you're going? Like pointing always on 0?
What abaout price of maintaining?
If you service and fix yourself (as my channel promoting) - doesn't cost that much. That car from the video is currently on 387.000 miles. I'm thinking to make another video when it reaches 400K
Thank you!
You're welcome 👍
Which country is this, right handrive..
UK
Good video ! I got same car 2014 ! Like it ))
Thanks brat
Thanks, Михайло :) Personally, I don't like my video, just done it for the sake of it, but the car is GOOD. By now I can say even more about it. Next week I'm planning to replace clutch and make a video. Will take some time to edit though..
Nice informative review 👌🏼.
Thanks 😊 I want to make another one soon, because it's done over 300.000 miles now..
@@wawayltd How is the engine on 300k miles ? Any tehnical problems ? Thank you very much for your videos !
Also how is the rust protection on this model ? Thanks.
@@CristianP I don't seem to have rust anywhere.. Engine is ok. Gearbox is good. Feels like I have to replace clutch soon again. I have done last one about 150-160 thousand miles ago.
You know, sometimes I think that it's so good, because I constantly drive it and it doesn't have time to stay there and get rusty or stiff..
Oh yeah, I think I will need to replace injector seals soon.
@@CristianP .. still same turbo too and same EGR.
Good!!!!
Thanks! I like it too :)
vw all ways the best cars go longer than the others
If you look after them and care properly - they will go forever.
I have a 2l Diesel engine on my Grandis, made by VW and the biggest issues with this car have ben engine related. It is a VW Touran engine 2006. So don't buy into German reliability... is no longer the case. VW multivan T5 have major faults with the injectors, is not worth fixing it unless is new... So we need to do our homework before spending our time and money for a wagon... Glad to know this is a better car than the rest, I need one at this point since the engine on the Grandis is close to being dead.
Shame the older one isn't made anymore. So much more leg room.
Didn't try the old one, so can't compare. However, I find this one pretty spacious..
lol you actually have Fire extinguisher in boot sign haha
SA13 Yeah :) Joy of being taxi driver - complying with the rules..
