"Gowasu" (the supreme kai) does mention the fusion and tell him to put the ring in the left ear to avoid the potara fusion he even tell "Zamas", "Would you like to fuse? " which Zamas replied with a nervous smile : "no thank you". And he gave him the earring to make him a supreme kai but only temporary .
Good catch everyone like so pearls can see this might me another hint for goku black
they use the word gattai instead of fusion, that is the reason why geekdom may missed it

Bulma does not recognise pilaf because it has been almost 30 years. Also after pilaf almost got bulma killed bulma went through tonnes of things like, king piccolo, raddiz, frieza, cell and buu who actually killed her.

He's more like, "okay if these mortals won't change and keep killing themselves, I'll just do them a favor and slaughter them myself".

I think it's more elitist in his views.. As in "how dare any creature exist that isn't a god, there should only be gods, and if a non god can get godly power then it's tainting the superiority of all gods".. Which explains all of his opinions, and is best to refer to these "ningen" as non-gods since Beerus is a god and is also mortal, so using mortal to describe non gods infers that gods are immortal which isn't the case in dragon ball..

Yep and says he needs the earring for the time ring to work (not promoted to kaioshin). That was a huge part to leave out. Think I might start watching the episode subbed myself before watching reviews. A lot of mis-information is starting to get out there. I don't think its international it just happens

I think that's the issue with Geekdom watching the japanese dub, unless his japanese is spot-on he will miss crucial details and nuances. The subs, I would think, are written by people who probably are fluent in japanese.
+Mathieu Couture I agree. I'm not taking a shot but I'm wondering how sharp Herms translations are on Twitter. For example Whis said black and zamasu have similar ki, but black's ki is evil while he couldn't sense any evil in zamasu. Herms said "black and zamasu have similar ki but it's not the same". The fact that Whis said he didn't sense any evil in Zamasu and Goku saying he didn't think he was bad is a huge difference. I also noticed in episode 53 Goku said that he thinks Zamasu has the potential to become as strong as Beerus and no one discussed it. Missing this kind of stuff makes me just want to wait and watch the sub and then watch a review from someone that has taken time to digest everything.
Donnie Campbell Actually, regarding episode 53, Zamasu's mentor mentions that *Goku* has similar strenght to Beerus (Of course Beerus gets pissed). That scene is during Goku and Zamasu's sparring match when Gomasu expresses surprise at Goku's immense strenght against his prodigy student. Note that I've been watching a sub so I could always be wrong, I don't understand a word of japanese XD.

YES! watching today's episode, i felt so annoyed with the pilaf scene and every other pilaf scene in the past. i can't stand the character, much less his annoying voice. get fucking rid of him. i would pay toei animation money for them to kill that useless excuse of a character off. kid mai has some significance to the series now because of future trunks, and shu the dog is still tolerable as a character too, but pilaf...FFS. if zamasu or black goku had to kill anyone, please let it be him.

Actually, many people are failing to notice this, but Trunks transformed into Ultra Super Saiya-jin 2. Not really Grade 3 / Ultra Super Saiya-jin. Buffing up can be done literally at any time with any form and by ANY character ("Hey! I am Trunks! Please LOVE ME DAAADDD!!")
Trunks first transformed into SSjin 2, and THEN, buffed up his SSjin 2 form beyond its limits by overloading all his ki into it. But then, when Vegeta asks Trunks to 'HIT' him ( certainly what an extremely buffed Ultra form cannot do ), Trunks reverts back to a Regular SSjin 2.
. I always thought in the Perfect Cell Saga it was referred to as, ascended super saiyan or super saiyan 3rd grade.

It was stated by toriyama that SSJ2 and SSJ3 are merely just power ups of the super saiyan form. Not actual transformations. But anyways yeah goku and vegeta could do the samething. Trunks learned from cell about the USSJ forms weakness so ofcourse he did that. He would be stupid to have forgotten something that almost got him killed.
Sonic The Hedgehog It was always referred to as Ultra Super Saiyan / Super Saiyan 1 , Grade 3 ( this is extreme buffing up )
Ascended Super Saiyan is Super Saiyan 1, Grade 2 ( the form which Vegeta used to whoop Semi Perfect Cell's ass, and the form which Trunks used in his brief scuffle against Ascended Vegeta )
'Extreme Buffing up' is mere overloading of ki. It can be done with literally any form. Even Cell could do it.
Actually, it WAS Ultra, there was no lightning so it wasn't a buffed SSJ2. Also, the weird thing is he reverted FROM SSJ2 to fool Vegeta into dropping his guard but then reverted again to SSJ1 to attack him (again, no lightning). Suffice to say, that fight either had inconsistencies or Trunks is a bit of a fool for approaching his father at anything but absolute full strenght.
Mathieu Couture I noticed there was no lightning. But its not the first time lightning hasn't been added.

Son... All Ima fucking say is this Episode was crazy and good at the same time. I'm going to say this, I thought Gowasu got the earring taken by Zomasu, but I was wrong. He gave him it promoting him to become a Full Kaioshin now. Also, I think Gowasu told Zamasu to put the earring on the left ear so they WOULDNT FUSE. Which is the reason why Zamasu made that face.
Far as the time ring goes:
It looks like it was Zamasu's 1st time seeing it in person & knowing anything about using it. Now my thing is will Zamasu's kill his Master? Taken the other ring off him? I also question since its some sort of Paradox going on will there be 2 Zamasu's & them fusing together to make SSGSS or Super Saiyan Pink/White?
Is Zamasu truly Black Goku? I'm pretty sure everyone is pointing in that direction. There's TOO MANY BIG HINTS.
- Using the same words such as "This is the end"
- Green Kaioshin Earring on the left side
- Ki is Similar to Black Goku even if it's not the same imagine him in Goku.
+Oni Master temporary promotion in order to time travel as it was explain that only kaioshins can use the rings to time travel
Geekdom you missed a huge clue. The fusion is brought up when Gowasu hands him the earring.
Gowasu says "make sure you put it in the left ear"
Zamasu "We would become one if I put it in the other right"
Gowasu "Yes we could become a very powerful Kaioshin"
Gowasu "You don't want to merge us do you"
and they end up laughing but the camera focuses on Zamasu acting very strange.
That clue was telling us what happens to Gowasu. Eventually Zamasu is gonna merge them.
yea I saw that but maybe they'll do that if they do then that means that the supreme kai in universe 10 (if that's not right correct me) that he can shapeshift into anybody

After taking a good look at all the clues i think i've pretty much figured things up while still making sense!
REMEMBER! There are TWO VERY DIFFERENT TIMELINES HERE! The one we all know (let's call it MAIN ONE) and the Future Trunks one! Now i think everyone knows this already but don't mistake the timelines with present and future etc, THERE ARE REALLY TWO DIFFERENT TIMELINES!
So we know that Black comes from the Future Trunks timeline AND NOT from the main one, and on the contrary, the Zamasu we were introduced is from the main one AND NOT from the F.Trunks one! But still pretty much everyone at this point is saying that they're the same character, BUT as i just mentioned, if the two of them come from TWO DIFFERENT TIMELINES, how come they are the same ? The answer is simple! THEY ARE NOT!
And this is how things really are!
The Zamasu from the MAIN ONE, that hates mortals and just recently became an official Kaioshin, when learning about the existence of Goku and also fighting him, felt humiliated beause how strong he was, and that only served to increase his hatred of mortals, and so he swore revenge! Now in the recent episode we see that he and Gowasu use the time ring to travel to the future and we know that that ring also has the ability to travel to a parallel timeline (like Black did)!
So, how is he and Black (who is from a different timeline) connected ?
The answer is simple, the Zamasu we know WILL eventually go to the Future Trunks Timeline BUT NOT to the time when Trunks fought Black, NO NO! He will go BEFORE THAT and he will discover that Goku in that timeline DIED, SO he will somehow snatch that Goku's body but he won't possess him! He will ONLY TAKE CONTROL OVER HIM (probably via the potara)! We will still see Zamasu in his regular body! And we know that from the DB Heroes video! AND NO! I'M NOT SAYING THAT SCENE WILL APPEAR IN THE SHOW! THAT'S A GAME ONLY SCENE! But the result will be the same! Goku, Vegeta and Trunks will go to the other timeline and they will fight Black there WITH the main timeline Zamasu also there watching! Now the Zamasu of the F.TRUNKS TIMELINE IS COMPLETELY IRRELEVANT! That Zamasu won't be a part of the story!
So summing it up, Black is the Goku that died in the F.Trunks timeline and is being controlled AND the main timeline Zamasu is the one behind everything!

I can't see him taking over a dead body. I can see Zamasu going back to the time when Goku first arrived on Earth in Dragon Ball. Kid Goku could turn into a giant ape (Oozaru) and Zamasu could destroy his tail and some how get knocked down by Goku before he transforms back. Then, the pattaro earring could fall on Goku's ear causing them to fuse on accident much like Grand Kai.

The latin spanish sub is somehow out earlier than the english sub. Gowazu, in fact, mentions the fusion. He tells Samasu to hook the potara on the same ear than him because if Samasu hooks it on the opposite ear they will fuse. In shorter words, Gowazu and Samauzu were using the real potara on their left ears so they don't end fusing. Gowazu gives Samasu a potara because only a real Kaio shin can use the time ring. The potara just enabled Samasu to travel in time. Going to the scene of Pillaf in the lab, Pillaf was adding code to Bulmas's program, but bulma noticed and instead of scolding him she praised the added code and asked him who he is. To that question, Pilaf said he is just a kid. Going back to Gowazu and Samazu, Gowazu explains that every green ring forms when someone goes to the past and creates an parallel world. One of such rings is kinda new. That is what the spanish sub

Spanish subs always come out earlier. So far, they have been the same as the English subs. I watch the Spanish subs roughly 2 hours after the episode airs and the English subs when they come out. They say the same thing.
The explanation of the green time rings are huge. This now brings some truth to theory that the simple act of Goku and others going to meet Zamasu was the cause of Black Goku.
***** It means that when someone travels to the past and changes something a parallel timeline (world) is created. Every green time ring is the result of someone changing the past.
***** Plot hole or maybe the Kais of universe 10 are the keepers of the rings.

A couple of corrections:
-Zamasu wasn't really promoted to a Kaioshin. He was temporarily promoted by Gowasu so both could use the ring, since only Kaioshins are allowed to use it.
-They did mention the fusion, and the dialogue could well be a foreshadow of what's coming. Gowasu, as a joke, proposed that both fused and became a more powerful Kaioshin. Zamasu refused but on a suspicious manner. He refused the offer, but I guess he liked the idea. Usually I don't like to make predictions, but I'm expecting one of two scenarios: a) Zamasu fuses with Gowasu and the power of the fusion allows him to create or become Black; b) Zamasu kills Gowasu and promotes himself to a Kaioshin.
Another thing that I don't see anyone commenting is that weird transformation into the ascended Super Saiyan. Trunks had big hair in the Cell saga when he transformed because...well, he had big hair at the time. Now he has a small cut but somehow it gets big when he transforms. Since when is that a thing? I seriously thought that he was transforming into a Super Saiyan 3 when I saw the hair growing. I literally covered my face with my hands when I saw what Toei was doing.
