I don’t know if you noticed luke’s body language, but when he got uncomfortable, he crossed his arms over his chest and tried to shrink into himself. I think that he’s trying to make himself appear smaller and less known when he does this to move the attention away from himself
when the woman comes over he does that partly self comfort and partly to prove he isn’t touching her imo because he heard Ashton say it’s being recorded smh 🤦🏻♀️
the reason why this caused such a commotion is that, if a male interviewer did that to a girl band/female artist, we'd definitely know it's inappropriate and borderline sexual harassment. mikey and cal were so uncomfortable they ended up taking their jackets off just to make the awkwardness go away sooner. there is a really REALLY big issue with the media / fans objectualising male artists. wether is groping (there are proof videos of harry and louis separately dealing with this), or talking about them in an overly sexual manner. Lizzo has actually been accused of the latter many times. It needs to be normalised as wrong. Feminism goes both ways so if people fight for women to be treated the same as men, then we should also do the same for men who are treated unfairly.
I’m pretty sure they’ve always done this, but sometimes when they’re uncertain or they’re looking for someone to back them up, Michael, Calum and Luke will immediately look to Ashton. He reassures whether it’s verbally or physically which is pretty cool. They’re all very in tune and it really shows in moments like this.

I think Michael always throws people off when they’re first getting to know about the band. He is very much an extroverted personality, but he has also stated a few times that he has a panic disorder, which might explain his sometimes “hot and cold”, for a lack of better words.

Keep in mind that she didn't just take her top off, she tried to make THEM take it off and then when they didn't want to, she did it anyways. And then she just stood there trying to make them look at her? Those laughs were uncomfortable as fuck. This interviewer is the worst. It feels like watching some of Harry Styles' interviews where he would get hit on by a female interviewer or get asked sexual or super invasive questions and had to pretend to be okay with it since a lot of the time artists aren't considered people, they're seen as objects for consumption.

I think what might interest you if you are looking for some awkward content to analyze would be NCT's awsaz series or 'It's Awkward But It's Ok' in English which is basically a show focused on getting rid of awkwardness between NCT members. In a group with 23 members, not everyone can be close but this show is a form of reducing members feeling awkward around each other. If you are looking for chaotic interviews tho NCT also had Sun&moon and this year's eumarkjungsim show.
