The story of Minos is that of man’s compassion. The desire to help one another out during the toughest times, to provide everyone with safety and shelter, as well as with a good life. This heavily contrasts Sisyphus, who reflects the sheer spite and audacity of mankind. Sisyphus suffered through his punishment and decided he had enough, and even if heaven struck him down, then so be it. The one theme that unites these two is futility. The futility of trying to reason with Gabriel, the futility of leading a war against heaven, all for the same reason: to save their people from suffering.
I wonder, with that logic, who would be the next Prime boss? Maybe God Prime, from what I've heard when it came to talks of some terminal entries is that God came to regret humanity. "failure after failure after failure" seems like futile struggle. It's either that or lucifer, futility of the first rebellion.
@@Swagbigail Honestly I did think that to be another possibility to but I wonder how that would work. If were going with the whole futility theme it could perhaps be that gabriel understands the futility of his efforts as soon as he understands the respawn mechanic (like what the other 2 seem to hint at) and therefore gains power from that enlightened state.
@@TheBroGamer14082 ‘Futility’ really isn’t *the* be all end all of prime souls, it simply is a common theme between these two stories. The real reason why they manifested as prime souls was for their determination and bravery in standing up to the rule of Heaven. Gabriel has all of these things; the determination to slaughter the council in order to hopefully save his people, the futility of knowing he will die once The Father’s light leaves his body, and also his determination in stopping the genocidal machines from wringing out the last drops of blood in hell, knowing they’ll come to heaven next. He knows now that the fathers light will not save him, and he has nothing to lose. Because of all of these reasons I think he’s a great candidate for a prime soul
@@Swagbigail You have a good point. Now this has got me thinking, the gabriel fight in Act 3 will have a 3rd stage introduced by a cutscene wherein gabriel experiences the light leaving his body yet still remains alive due to having become a prime soul in that moment.
I'd like to believe because of the contrast in Minos' and Sisyphus' ideologies like the fact that Minos sees you as someone needing punishment while Sisyphus sees you as a warm up match, and because one was a kind leader while the other was an iron-fisted ruler, that this would end up being a death match between V1, Minos and Sisyphus.
- And thyn punishments...IS DEATH - Im curious about your skills...a weapon on one side, and a powerful king on the other - 01000010 01101111 01110010 01101001 01101110 01100111 00100000 01100111 01101111 01101111 01100110 01111001 00100000 01100001 01110011 01110011 01100101 01110011

I swear. Minos Prime is the more iconic one. Maybe because he was first and has been out longer, but idk. Or maybe it's because Sisyphus Prime felt... Easier? Ah well. As Max0r says. "V2 makes every game easier."
@@warlockarcher Yea he is also just more memeable as well, something about the way he talks is both very threatening and well acted, and kind of hilarious? Just hearing "JUDGEMENT" and then instantly dying will always be one of ULTRAKILL's best moments
@@mewz52 I'm not really sure. There were less retries on the first attempt. 103 for Minos, 86 for Sisyphus. Of course, we are different people, and therefore our experiences will be different.
I thought of some "Double Trouble" attack patterns for Minos & Sisyphus: Sisyphus' "You can't escape" last hit follows up with Minos' "Judgement!" After the final stomp Sisyphus does, Minos readies up and tries to dropkick you, so you would have to jump over the shockwave and dash/parry the dropkick. Minos' "Prepare Thyself!" or "Thy end is now!" ends with Minos' serpent and Sisyphus using Ground Pound. Sisyphus using Roundhouse kick. If it connects and hits the player, Minos would teleport behind the player and performs Overhead which would follow up with Sisyphus' "BEGONE!" Minos perform Uppercut, which would follow up with "Die!" once the player is airborne. Sisyphus would continue the combo with "Destroy!"
Your battle against Sisyphus Prime plays out exactly as you'd expected it to. You narrowly dodge and weave through his flawlessly executed combos, ducking away from shockwaves and parrying whenever the opportunity arises. As the first of his two health bars creeps ever closer to its end, your confidence is through the roof. You start playing with fire, getting a little closer than before, snapping off a couple shots during moments you'd previously thought inopportune. "Yes, that's it!" He calls out in excitement as you finally enter the second half of the fight. You carry on your delicate waltz with certain demise for what feels like hours, watching as his health steadily drains away at your mechanical hands. However, the very moment he's a single strike away from death, something... _peculiar_ happens. One of the countless windows lining your battleground shatters open as a strangely familiar-looking being dives through. Their fist reels back and impacts the side of Sisyphus' head, instantly obliterating what little health remained within him. The assailant rises to their feet, a brilliant blue light emanating from within them. It's only once they lift their gaze to meet yours that you realize who this being is. The Prime Soul of King Minos. This... couldn't be possible, could it? You endured it all... failure after failure wrought on by his might, until that fateful moment came that you were finally able to rend him asunder... and yet, here he stood? You cautiously readied your Marksman Revolver as the empty void of Minos Prime's face stared daggers through your soul, cold, unfeeling... yet hateful all the same. Thy end is now.
Imagine after P-ranking all the Prime levels, a final challenge unlocks where you have to fight all three Prime bosses at once, and a mashup of all their themes play during it.
If P-3 gonna be in the same style as this two (most likely it should be), if not Hakita, then I will try to not only make a mashup, but this boss rush thingy
@@The_Chosen_Moth. That makes literally no sense. If it was Judas or even Adam & Eve, that would make much more sense and would be much more interesting. Jesus is the son of god, and would have no reason to be in hell. If layer 9 is Treachery, and the first and second parts of an act have been used as the base for the P levels, then it would only make sense for the last part of the act to be the base for P-3. Adam & Eve and Judas have both betrayed God directly, and thus would be logical candidates for being Prime Souls locates within that layer.

imagine if you could fight minos and sisyphus together (and i dont mean in sandbox) then once you defeated them both you had to fight them again but this time they're radiant
It’s always about a deeper dive of Minos but never Sisyphus so I’ll deliver. Sisyphus is so powerful, even the Council and Angels feared him. Let’s remember the fact Sisyphus broke out PANOPTICON all by his loan-some just from V1 messing with it, this demonstrates the raw power Sisyphus has. Lets also note that PANOPTICON is stuck under 2-3 layers of the City of Dis (P-2’s location) and Is HEAVILY guarded by both Demons and Angels. Even the people of Hell fear and will fight against this powerhouse. --------------- Now for the Greed Renaissance and Riot. This was during the time when Sisyphus was being punished in the Greed-Ring/Layer. When the Angels weren’t watching over the workers, they started to riot and stop working. (Note: before this Sisyphus got many of his fellow tortured to riot and strike and fight the angels.) Later; when the angels returned; Sisyphus and his men fought the Angels. Sisyphus commanded the Greed unit and Gabriel commanded the resistance against this. Let’s just say Sisyphus and his men were massacred by the Angels. (You can tell by the very existence of the Sisyphean Insurrectionist). And then after this his soul was imprisoned in PANOPTICON, where, it became a *PRIME /// SOUL.* ------------------ I’ma cut this short for you people who don’t care to read the above: Sisyphus was banished for his Greed, imprisoned and became so powerful he was feared by EVERYONE.)
he was trapped further cause he was already formed as a prime soul when he was in He was caught as a prime soul minos wasnt a formed prime soul which is why he was trapped with less precaution the chance of him escaping was less minos was so scary they took his normal soul into a prison and made him a zombie like thing and he wasnt feared cuz he ruled fairly, he wasnt a warrior he was a king
I like how Sisyphus's theme seems chaotic at time and everywhere, but Minos's finds a way to be organized and "orderly" (Hence why Sisyphus is War and Minos Order)
tbh i think it would be better for gabriel to just die in treachery. because who would trap him in a flesh prison? the council of heaven he killed? the rest of the angels WE killed?
War at first didn't really do it for me but after time I've become obsessed with it just as much as I am with Order. It's just that good and I think it's quite overlooked because of the popularity of Tenebre Rosso Sangue.
These two flow with eachother really well, which I suppose is to be expected given both are Prime Soul themes but I love it nonetheless Also I like to imagine this is what would happen if Prime Souls were truly immortal, as in they would eventually just reform later, so Minos suddenly ambushes you right after Sisyphus' spiel to help kill you
order is super fucking good but war isn't bad, either, once you get to listen to it and notice the Unstoppable Force and (obviously) Sands of Tide leitmotif
Now hear me out, what if the third Prime Soul was LILITH? Since the general Theme with these Prime Souls seems to be, that they were humans who stood up to heaven, and seeing how Lilith (The first Woman according to some variations of the story of Eden, and even sometimes being the serpent that tricked adam and eve to eat the forbidden fruit) was the first human to defy gods will, it could be quite fitting if she was the third and last Soul V1 fights, as in the first human to stand up to god. If Lilith appears as the next Soul fight, it doesn't have to be the same Backstory for her as in the religious texts, since we have already seen drastic changes to Minos and Sisyphus characters and backstory when compared to their Basis.
I’d kill for the 9-2 boss to be a team up with Gabriel where we fight off the remaining hordes of hell to get to Satan. Then the ensuing battle includes a myriad of interlacing leitmotifs of both Gabriel and Hells past. Or the opposite direction, finding the Devil dead at Gabriel’s feet and teaming up with him to overthrow heaven. It’s been a running idea in my head for a while now.
i think i finally get why sisyphus is more calm but somewhat tense vs minos being intense and extremely chaotic, sisyphus sees you as a challenge, eager to see your skills. meanwhile minos sees your death as a sentencing he will personally see to, deeming you deserving of dying for your crimes against humanity
I agree, although Sys escaping his prison early is very impactful as hell, the rest is... alright his taunts are not the best but also not bad. Minos claps in everything tho from the beggining to the start plus his theme fits more with him
Minos's prime soul was born from grief and his desire for peace, Sisyphus' was born from something raw, like anger, desire for revenge against heaven and hunger for power
Just in the middle of the fight imagine just Minos suddenly smashing through the wall saying "Let me be of assistance, creature!" And starts beating the sh*t out of Sisyphus
I feel like Ultrakill has two sides: “Funny, drastic brainrot.” And “The Thinkers or, the ones who discover the most crazy things or just the theory people.”

@@theofficialtastynacho0898 minos has no face because he ruled for the good of his people, and not for recognition or fame or money. It represents the fact that he was a selfless and just ruler that wanted the best for his people.

@@monkeyman4346 fair enough
And yet Minos has more health and Sisyphus has more power
@@TheBroGamer14082 Personally I think Gabriel will die in Act III and become the next prime boss

Honestly, Nor Minos nor Sisyphus were capable of that... Unlike those two mindflyers
This fits sumbliminally well.
I can imagine, Minos, revitalised, his shattered soul collected in the flesh of the Panopticon, slowly revealing himself until you enter Sisyphus's second phase, where they both decide mutually that you are a greater threat and absolutely wreck you.
p3 leak?
I swear. Minos Prime is the more iconic one. Maybe because he was first and has been out longer, but idk. Or maybe it's because Sisyphus Prime felt... Easier? Ah well. As Max0r says. "V2 makes every game easier."
maaan how did sissy feel easier, for me it was 5x harder than minos
It might also be because Minos Prime has a more iconic look, what with the crown, snakes, and gapping hole for a face

A perfect comment.
I thought of some "Double Trouble" attack patterns for Minos & Sisyphus:
Sisyphus' "You can't escape" last hit follows up with Minos' "Judgement!"
After the final stomp Sisyphus does, Minos readies up and tries to dropkick you, so you would have to jump over the shockwave and dash/parry the dropkick.
Minos' "Prepare Thyself!" or "Thy end is now!" ends with Minos' serpent and Sisyphus using Ground Pound.
Sisyphus using Roundhouse kick. If it connects and hits the player, Minos would teleport behind the player and performs Overhead which would follow up with Sisyphus' "BEGONE!"
Minos perform Uppercut, which would follow up with "Die!" once the player is airborne. Sisyphus would continue the combo with "Destroy!"
these are some clever patterns
You should send this to hakita, i think he would like the idea
Okay,I visualised that last one in my head.
It's like a fucking dragon ball combo.
@@bolmobelo tbh yeah cooler, it is pretty much a Dragon Ball combo
p-p is going to be a 3 on 1 if people keep having Ideas
Make part 2!!

WHAT IS P-3?!?!?!
It can work kinda like a boss rush just without the breaks between each one
P-3 is Jesus prime
Get ready to receive some Holly spirit
@@The_Chosen_Moth. That makes literally no sense.
If it was Judas or even Adam & Eve, that would make much more sense and would be much more interesting. Jesus is the son of god, and would have no reason to be in hell. If layer 9 is Treachery, and the first and second parts of an act have been used as the base for the P levels, then it would only make sense for the last part of the act to be the base for P-3. Adam & Eve and Judas have both betrayed God directly, and thus would be logical candidates for being Prime Souls locates within that layer.
Sisyphus is cool and all, but Minos is just so much cooler

Sisyphus punches his way out of the Panopticon but Minos punches him back in
It’s always about a deeper dive of Minos but never Sisyphus so I’ll deliver.
---------------
Now for the Greed Renaissance and Riot.
This was during the time when Sisyphus was being punished in the Greed-Ring/Layer.
When the Angels weren’t watching over the workers, they started to riot and stop working. (Note: before this Sisyphus got many of his fellow tortured to riot and strike and fight the angels.)
Later; when the angels returned; Sisyphus and his men fought the Angels.
Sisyphus commanded the Greed unit and Gabriel commanded the resistance against this.
Let’s just say Sisyphus and his men were massacred by the Angels. (You can tell by the very existence of the Sisyphean Insurrectionist).
And then after this his soul was imprisoned in PANOPTICON, where, it became a *PRIME /// SOUL.*
------------------
I’ma cut this short for you people who don’t care to read the above: Sisyphus was banished for his Greed, imprisoned and became so powerful he was feared by EVERYONE.)
he was trapped further cause he was already formed as a prime soul when he was in
He was caught as a prime soul
minos wasnt a formed prime soul which is why he was trapped with less precaution
the chance of him escaping was less
minos was so scary they took his normal soul into a prison and made him a zombie like thing
and he wasnt feared cuz he ruled fairly, he wasnt a warrior he was a king

War at first didn't really do it for me but after time I've become obsessed with it just as much as I am with Order. It's just that good and I think it's quite overlooked because of the popularity of Tenebre Rosso Sangue.
These two flow with eachother really well, which I suppose is to be expected given both are Prime Soul themes but I love it nonetheless
