Rosa's dad putting aside his bigotry to support his daughter is such an underrated moment for me. And it feels so real, like there wasn't any scene of anyone trying to change his mind. He just came around on his own, I love that this show acknowledged that older parents/people can still grow and be better.
I love thé symmetry of Holt and Jake’s relationship ship - Holt helps him become an emotionally balanced adult and realize that you can still have fun while growing up - Jake helps him realize that part of being a good leader is having more to life than just the job and that bonding with the people you lead is part of why they respect you
You can definitely see it when Holt speaks to Jake when he was leaving. Jake was super mature with no references or jokes and Holt was the one to make the joke and reference. I'm not even done binging the whole show yet and I can already see it, it's so amazing

as the show goes on, jake became more professional thanks to holt, and holt became more outgoing because of jake. their whole dynamic is just so amazing.

Of all the Comedies I've seen in my 52 years, Brooklyn 99 , has brought me to tears more times than any other. The Office, Modern Family and Married With Children are the others.
As consistently funny as this show is, one of the major reasons it succeeded was this. It could craft good characters with real emotional weight and all the different things we do to manage it. Holt’s and Rosa’s prickly exterior hiding a depth of emotion as an example. And you love these guys because they are good friends who’ll be there for each other, call out BS, and just care. This show is my cure for depression.

Agreed! Despite it being a little will they/won't they before they were properly together. Once they were together, that was it, they talked to each other about issues that might affect the relationship, i.e Amy's promotion and got through it. Comparing to Ross and Rachel, the older I get, the on/off thing gets old fast and annoying to watch.
Rosa and Arlo were so cute!🥰 Also, I guess I need to try the binocular method whenever I need to cry but don’t want people to know. I’m sure it’d work just as well as for me as it did for Jake and Charles.😉😅
Andre's ability in showcasing Holt's emotional range without being animated or extra is beyond anything I have seen. The scene where he says, "This is the real world Santiago, relationships end in unsatisfying ways all the time. People don't run to each other in the rain." The pain and hopelessness in his voice.
The funny part about Rosa's "fake voice" is its closer to her real life bubbly personality. In some of her blogs she talks about how hard it was to become Rosa and get away from her bubbly personality

The moment that always gets me is when Jake and Charles can’t find a Captain Latvia doll for Nicolasz so Jake gives him a police action figure. Nicolasz says “It’s a policeman papa just like you!” and I just melt.
I always enjoyed catching clips of this show in passing. I finally sat down and binge the whole series and what an absolute treat of television. RIP Andre, he will be sorely missed from this world

while the show is technically about cops but in the end there are life lessons which are displayed that many of us can sort of relate to.
