Unfortunately, yes...On many other songs as well (Up, Forever and for always, Any man of mine i.e.)Only near the very end of the tour this was fixed and you could hear Shania's pre-recorded vocals better.

Very high debate going on here with comparisons to a recent festival where she didn’t sound her best. Firstly let me say that it’s truly incredible that Shania still had the ability to perform due to her health conditions and almost losing her voice all together. Secondly, it’s unfair to compare to the festival as artists nearly never get a good quality sound check, if it all. She has new band members I believe and new backing singers, this in itself makes things more complicated. The levels were off and at times it was very clear she couldn’t hear herself so either sang in a quieter voice or the sound mixer turned her mic down to prevent her sound really bad. Talking of sound, it usually isn’t the artists own sound engineer at these types of festivals so they don’t know what the artist likes and what sounds good for that specific act.
Now talking of this 2023 tour, she is singing and is NOT lip syncing. There is however her vocals on a backing track which includes harmonies, which is very normal in a live show, it’s how music is produced in the studio so if it wasn’t done on tour, the sound of the voice would come across very empty and thin. Plus it helps the artist to have to not try and fill an arena/stadium with an empty/thin sounding voice that they would push their voice to work that hard and it’s not sustainable when you could be touring for a year and a half. So backing track with a couple of the artist’s vocals for harmonies is totally fine, add in the backing singers and the vocal is a richer and fuller sound.
Lastly, Shania’s voice isn’t what it used to be due to health issues and because she is older than when she was at her peak. Very normal for the voice to deteriorate, especially in women. This is why you will see older artists singing in a lower key, and actually some younger artists do it on tour to maintain and sustain their vocal. The live singing she is doing here on this tour does have live auto tune on her mic to keep her sometimes shaky vocal in the correct key and there’s other mic effects to make her sound fuller and clearer. When she is singing and her voice begins to thin out, you can hear the auto tune trying to keep her in a note but not managing because there’s more air than sound coming out of her mouth leaving the auto tune unsure of what to do.
There’s nothing wrong with any of this and all of these techniques are used by most touring artists either in full or a selection of the above mentioned. You wouldn’t be annoyed at someone using crutches to walk because they have a broken ankle so why be annoyed at someone whom have battled through a very touch medical condition but still wants to put on a show for her fans.
I’m not a Shania Stan. It just so happens that I like this song and I watch performances of it every now and then and this video popped up. So I have no skin in the game when it comes to the fierce debate going on here. However, I know a lot about this type of thing and thought I would give my two cents. I’d also be interested to know how far she’s into her tour because sometimes artists at the start of their tour have too much auto tune and realise it (which I’d say was happening in this performance) then after a few tour dates, the robotic sound is gone because they have adjusted it. Let me know. Hope this helps.

First show of the tour. She’ll work out the levels and needs as she goes. She put on a great show and her backing band, dancers, and vocalists were all awesome. That particular song had that sound purposefully I felt.

When an artist uses a backing track instead of singing live during a performance, it's known as lip-syncing. The intro is a good example to hear what is "live" and what is "lip-synced": ruclips.net/video/ZtSjNg_mph8/видео.html.
As a fan, I'm sad to see Shania struggle during her performances because of her condition. I just believe it's important to prioritize her health and well-being. If she's no longer able to perform live, that's okay. She can still create great music in the studio. But going on tour to use pre-recorded tracks, nope.
I understand the desire to defend it at all costs, and I've seen many examples of devotion here, but her performance is not good.

@@mkstarry1 I thought it may be the first show or at least one of the early ones. I think the band is okay. The drums could be better in my opinion but the backing vocalists are good. One of them is Scottish as am I. Good for him ha. She’ll work it out. Feel like I need to keep an eye on videos of this song as the tour goes one as I feel the robotic auto tune sound will soften. 😊

@@kekeLMB_YT like I said, I have absolutely no skin in the game. I’m not a Shania fan. However, like I also said, nearly all artists have their own voice as backing vocals. It’s actually rare to see an artist with actual backing vocalists with them on tour now as it’s not needed really nowadays but I miss what other voices bring so it’s good to see she has a couple of guys with her. She does also have backing vocals that are her own voice too, which is super common. I watched the intro video you linked and the chorus is heavily filled with backing with her own voice and it’s louder than her own live vocal. Personally, I don’t mind that too much. She sang the verses without backing and the chorus had added vocals for effect. As I’m not a fan, I don’t actually know the song you linked but that chorus is a difficult chorus to sing. With her voice being unpredictable because of her condition and with her being on the road for a large amount of time, I feel like it can be forgiven that the chorus features a heavy backing vocal. If it helps to preserve her voice in the long run then that’s good in my books. It’s sad as a fan yourself, you feel she should hang up the mic. I’ve been in that position as a fan myself of other artists and it sucks.
