At least the wicket keeper had the decency not to appeal given how far down the leg side he went and to look genuinely embarrassed was it was given out because the rest of team carried on appealing until it was given…. 🤦♂️
Oh well Dan that's cricket for you. I played in a game last season in (Christchurch, NZ) 40 overs per side. Game started 1pm and was finished by 2.15 pm. for me i was on the right side of the result. There's always next week. GOOD LUCK for this week
Reminds me of a game I played in 2010. Was playing for Rickmansworth in a game against Luton Town. Early season one this one. Luton scored 175 and I came in during our reply at 26 for four, finished unbeaten on one as we were bundled out for 37. Their best bowler took seven for eight.
Anyone that's played knows there'll always be days like this. Been the receiving end and also the giveth, memorable one skippering or 2's with only 8 and (2 of those had never played before) on the hottest day of the year, their skipper with a sneaky grin elected to bat, game all over 2 hours later, we bowled them out for 48 and knocked them off for 2 down in less than 10 overs 😁
I'm sure that most club players can relate to days like this. We didn't suffer too much with player holidays, but FA Cup final day was always a nailed on disaster. The 'yoof' were out on the lash all weekend, and if the chairman's rain dance didn't produce the goods, what was left of the senior teams got a good hiding. Every year.
@@SandersteadCCTV I remember when a club in our league, many years ago, had a promising young overseas called Curtly Ambrose. A lot of first teamers had weddings to go to that Saturday.
I was involved in a terrible game in the mid 80's. Two teams we were the top two teams in the league, we had won the first game against them. We were at home, rain before the game on a uncovered pitch, then a hot day. We tried the old fashioned trick of reversing the batting order, didn't really work, we were 8 for 8, 19 f 9 and 39 all out, the ball was swinging, leaping or dying it was just pure luck for the first 10 overs. Lost by 9 wickets, we did win the beer match after and the league at the end of the season so all was good
An old school thrashing is actually not that bad from a viewing perspective, given the proliferation of thrillers you've had lately. Looked to be a couple of hometown LBW decisions in the Sanderstead innings but doubt they made a difference.
Oh well, sometimes you have games like that. I watched my Australian team get bowled out for like 40 against SA many years ago and also around 60 in an Ashes test when Stuart Broad destroyed us. And then they got past out score without losing a single wicket.
A thrashing of any sort is not an adequate description of what happened - it was more like an extinction event. Still, an early finish on the field of play often leads to an early start at the club rooms, or any other convenient watering hole, so not all bad. Reminds me so much of my playing days......
I suspect that Sanderstead's tactical error in the first XI and seconds' games was to turn up. Declare an outbreak of Covid, hide both teams in the garden privy as precaution against rioting...it's a dark art🙄😏
That bowler charging down the wicket, arms outstretched, straight towards the departing batsman is an unnecessary display. I hope he sees this video and has a moment to reflect on it. And another moment of reflection for each of the other two times he did it.
I was - similar story. A few players missing and had to bat first on a drying track - game over by 2.15! It will be uploaded when the embarrassment has worn off 😂
It’s in the “edit suite” - I’ve had a lot of games recently and want to spread them out. Also, the lads need time for the embarrassment to wear off a bit 😂
I think Luka and a lot of the youngsters would benefit much more playing in the thirds or fourths. They’ll be better players bowling and batting more this way.
Might be worth showing young Aaron and Will this video Dan - esp when they are at the non-strikers end as they both show little interest in backing up. This is something that young players really shouldn’t be doing as a default thing - or rather it’s what they aren’t doing that’s the glaring problem. When Luca comes in he shows it’s still being taught by some coaches - so it might be worth a side chat to the two young lads about a fundamental in cricket that you just have to learn and actively do. Just some food for thought - I reckon they’d have no idea that it’s happening, and that’s kind of the real problem. Still young enough to learn and it’ll turn some dots into ones and will make those tight singles they run look far easier than they may be now. Cheers mate
Correct - I filmed the ones being thrashed, then went down the hill to watch the 2s getting thrashed. Should have stayed and filmed the 3s win! 1s game will be shown when the embarrassment has died down 😂
It is a good job old whits batted first at least they got 48 overs and got a chance to bat. But this is cricket and these days happen there is no subusitueTte for good bowling and fielding wins more fame than anything else.
It didn't affect the result, but Merv's lbw decision was an absolute shocker. Missing leg by miles.
Did look a bit harsh, but we don’t have the best angle

10:15 best part of the video
😂
That Murphy LBW looked very dodgy from my sofa 189 miles away......
😂😂😂
Crikey! Probably a summer weekend when you actually want it to rain!!! Hope the lurgy doesn't affect you to bad!
I’m getting over it - though I “played” yesterday in the Harley Sherlock match and pulled a groin muscle. C’est la vie….
@SandersteadCCTV wish it had rained! My fantasy team actually went backwards! Nevermind I see a new vid to watch tonight with a well earned Cider!
Sounds like a summer cold going on
Indeed - came on very quickly and is almost gone!
Never seen a horizontal tarpaulin sightscreen before
Same story in our 3rds yesterday. Luckily batted first 65 all out.
Agreed - if your going to get thrashed by a better side it’s best to bat first
Turns up late, finishes early...In many ways the perfect job!
Pints all round.
Thank you! Cheers! Though their bar is closed down!!!!!

Stop crying
Timestamp? I prolly know the guy irl.
Probably looking at a level 1 in our league, as batsman has to take evasive action to avoid the over celebrating bowler
unfortunately common place in club cricket nowadays, certain kinds of clubs have 0 respect for the opposition
@@valroxen9547 this opposition isnt bad for the most part. As i play at this club.
After such a 'drubbing' it needs a Pilgrim to drown the sorrows.
Indeed - but their bar has closed down!!!!
These things happen, part of the game.
Absolutely - holidays meant we had half our 3rd XI playing and our 4th XI match we had to concede as we only had 4 players!
The match that never was.
Good try at making the most of it Dan. Why weren’t you at the 1’s game?

Oh dear we got mullered
It happens!
I wonder why you didn’t post your 1st XI game👀👀👀 or did the files get lost? You could have put both games together and had a full video😂😂😂
It’s in the “edit suite” - I’ve had a lot of games recently and want to spread them out. Also, the lads need time for the embarrassment to wear off a bit 😂
Oh..
…dear 😂
8:30 get chrome dome’s hands down and out of the batsmen’s face… ironic he’s imitating a aeroplane
Hi sir can you upload this Saturday match recording Ashford vs sanderstead 1s please , we are waiting for this, thank you,
I have had a technical problem with the disc - it will be edited and uploaded once sorted. Well bowled, sir!
Thanks
Yoooo i play at that club
I think Luka and a lot of the youngsters would benefit much more playing in the thirds or fourths. They’ll be better players bowling and batting more this way.
To be fair they were that short the 4ths didn't play
Correct! This was a one off

You’re right, of course, but hopefully they’ll see your comment.
Why there is no coverage most of the first half of team bowling.
Seems Dan was over at the 1st's - which was also quickly over....and then dashed to this game.
