That Steinway really sounds pretty good. Wish they made a self tuning piano that would always stay in tune however. We have to learn to live with out of tune pianos even if subtly out of tune. Never heard bass clarinet played like this. Pure tone. Nice musical lines from Pianist and Clarinet man.
Awesome. A great sound. Super all around - I really like the bass clarinet. I actually prefer it over saxophone as it's not as harsh or brash on the ears as a saxophone can often be - but not necessarily.
@@mambojazz1 Absolutely true of course. My fave Charles Lloyd is a master of the gentle tone as well as the seriously aggressive. The wooden winds just have that subdued tone by design. It's probably harder for a bass clarinet to sound like a sax than for a sax to sound like a bass clarinet. 🤪
@@Garflips Well Dolphy's bass clarinet was beautifully harsh and he is the father of jazz on bass clarinet. A sax never sounds like a bass clarinet they are too completely different instruments. But there is less clarinet in jazz so people often try to compare it to a more popular instrument.
Great to see Jorge back on drums with Brad!!!!
yup
2:11, Rossy predicting Clemen's end phrase.. brilliant!
Welcome back!! Jorge Rossy!! We need you!!!!
Damn Jorge playing with Brad again is taking me back in time. That OG trio was some era defining shit.

Oh my, it's Jorge!!!
Joris, that’s definitely some of the best bass clarinet playing I’ve heard.
Eric Dolphy's lineage.

Rare thing to see on you tube something decent recorded - good work by mixing engineer Clemens

Interesting hearing Brad playing this more straight ahead material at this stage in his career!

Now it is proved. You can play advanced jazz solos on a bass clarinet. Just listen to Joris Roelofs in this.
Check out Eric Dolphy, who proved it 60 years ago
Love this quartet, saw it at the Transition Festival live, when may we see the whole set? Thanks Joris.
Those guys are pretty good!
Wow😍😍😍
Brad - not even touching the pedals - respect

Depends on the saxophone player. Saxophone sound is anywhere from Lester Young to Albert Ayler~

It's not as symbiotic as Brad's Trio before. But it's Covid time.
Wtf dude ?!
No 😔......sorry
Why not?
Brad is the best there ever been, don’t you dare!
Not a fan of straight ahead jazz?
