    Very interesting comparison Sir. I remember that colour on the C70 & 850 I think, quite different for the time. Good to see these cars take the mileage as was typical volvo

      Yes, the Saffron is a very typical colour of the 1990s, and looks good on a car like this. Glad you enjoyed the review, sir!

    Great colour! Looks alright for the mileage. The worst bit seems to be on the front bumper.
    A few days ago I spotted a used C70 on Facebook Marketplace in dark green with what I'm sure is a beige leather interior. Can't remember which engine.

      I’m working on the aesthetics of the car! A v70r bumper is awaiting it’s time to get painted up to be put on this. Front suspension needs tlc first though! Glad you enjoyed it!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  2 года назад +1

      Sir, said dark green C70 is a 2000 model with the 2.4 turbo engine (not a T5).

      We enjoyed this one very much, the suspension seemed a bit softer than mine, which is a bit more to my taste.

      If it’s the low mileage one that needs some paintwork, I’ve bought it.

    Excellent review MR Lloyd, another stunning Volvo. I'm in two minds with the face-lift, I like the headlights, but prefer the early style Indicator lenses and grill with the black badge, also love the wood trim as opposed to the metal effect trim.

    • @bigbignosedestroyer
      @bigbignosedestroyer 2 года назад +1

      These were replaced because the original ones decided to eject themselves off of the car somewhere on the m1… these are aftermarket projected styles indicators (new) with facelift headlights.

    According to the Volvo C70 owner's manual, the reason for the rear fog-light switch having a positive ON/OFF detent is that the rear fog-lights can be only be activated if dipped (low beam) headlights are turned on, and it will NOT be activated if only the side-lights are on. This feature prevents excessive battery drain, if for example the vehicle is parked off temporarily with the tail/side-lights AND the rear-fog-light switch still on, and the ignition off, as the rear fog-light was usually a 21W filament bulb, whereas the tail/side lights were usually only 5W filament bulbs.
    However, the reason that the front fog-light switch has a 'Press & Return' ON/OFF function is so that every time you have been driving with the front fog-lights on, and you turn off the ignition, when you then go to restart the car, the front fog-lights will be back in the OFF setting, preventing extra load & drain on the battery when starting the car again.
    For example, the CityRover had the 'Press & Return' ON/OFF function for BOTH the front & rear fog-lights, so every time you turned off the ignition, when you went to restart the car, they would both be OFF again and would then have to be turned on separately, if required - a feature that should have been standard on almost all German cars, most of which are notorious for their inconsiderate drivers leaving their front & rear fog-lights ON at all times.

      Thank you, sir! We don't talk about the CityRover on this channel, I am afraid.

    The US-spec C70 2.3 HPT retained its 236hp rating from 1998 through 2005. Our late P80 V70 R had a higher hp rating due to a different turbocharger- sounds like the UK C70 HPT got the same. Interesting!

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  2 года назад +1

      Yes, the very late P1/P80 V70 Rs in this country had a completely different engine (a 2.4 rather than a 2.3). Not sure about the American ones. Strange that the American C70 Had no horsepower improvement, but then again, they didn't need to follow European emissions regulations.

    Incorrect on the oil cap test, it’s a positive pressure crankcase system, if it’s sucking your hand in, the diaphragm on the PCV is knackered.

    Alpine do a double din head unit with wireless carplay, you can hook it up to the standard amp using an adaptor, and they also do really cool front/rear multi view cameras that connect to said head unit with one lead, and are IMO less ugly than parking sensors.
    (Only bits of wiring not covered by adaptor harnesses are the yellow/black vss lead you need to tap into, and the reverse switch or reverse light lead)

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  2 года назад

      As the kit for the sensors which go around the number plate frame cost around £50, whereas anything to do with a new stereo and reversing cameras is going to cost considerably more, I think that I am going to go with the sensors. My car was only £1400 in the first place, and I have just spent £500 on a cambelt service, so I need to control the spend a bit now. A reversing camera would be helpful, though, as I do have difficulty parking mine.

    • @Jonathan_Doe_
      @Jonathan_Doe_ 2 года назад

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting Yeah I’m going a bit all out on upgrading the head unit because I’ve come from a 2021 car (getting off the finance train), and I’ll miss the carplay functionality.
      Pretty amazed at the standard amp/speaker setup in them! 4x8 inch woofers and an actual alpine 4x100 amp is pretty unheard of in a factory setup!
      Always found the key with big vehicles (pre camera/sensor era) is to use the electric wing mirrors if you have em, or stick those little blind spot circles on them. Get yourself a view of the back wheel relative to the kerb, or a bit more rear corner in view.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  2 года назад

      @@Jonathan_Doe_ , mine is a GT which was originally sold as a demonstrator, so it is very well equipped for 1998. The brakes are absolutely excellent as well. I used to have those extension mirrors on an MG3 I owned as the standard mirrors were not switched from left to right hand drive for the UK market, so they are a bit useless. They saved the alloy wheels from kerbing on numerous occasions.

      These cars are still extremely undervalued. I had to scrap my C70 T5 as it wasn't worth repairing about two months after I made the video. As you say, lots of parts fit straight onto a P1 V70 or S70.
