I'm going to start me a new strawberry bed this fall. My last patch caught a fungal disease after about 4 years during a particular wet spring. Where I had them they were to shaded in the morning so it was always early afternoon before they dried out from rain or dew and I think that led to the fungal problems. This time I'm going to put them where they get good morning sun and late afternoon shade.
