I was attempting to keep this one shorter due to having Truck Reviews to elaborate, but we did carry on longer than expected. Also forgive any times I've misspoken on this one as well. Speaking for over an hour straight is not my strength. The Heavy Tier List WILL be much shorter :)
@@kiberkotlechka3005with all these powerful trucks, who knows, we could get an amur 2.0. but a chernobyl DLC with a harsh terrain and atmosphere would be perfect for it ^^
Nathan:"I don´t want to make another 45 minute review or tier maker list like I did for the highway and heavy duty trucks..." Also Nathan... BOOOM! 1 hour 12 minutes long video :D
@@NProvince actually I personally don't mind them being longer, I usually watch videos while playing Sr and I mostly watch yours so it's soothing and nice, the longer you make them, the more I hear them while playing
Honestly, i quite enjoy these long videos, as it allows you to develop why you believe each truck goes to it's spot, it feels like a class review, as you kinda review all of the trucks in the class
Love the tier lists! They are like mini reviews for each truck and give a perfect overview. Will definitely come back to some trucks I skipped before. Thanks for your effort.
Honestly mack defense is kinda shit, for an eight wheeled vehicle its REALLY bad at getting through mud, even with mud tires lmfao, which really confuses me, compare mack defense to the tuz scout vehicle, aint no damn reason a scout should be outperforming a truck designed to do this kind of shit lmfao rofl
The Crocodile carried me a lot through British Columbia. In one of my newer playthroughs I jumped straight from Michigan to BR Columbia to get the Mack and Kenworth asap. The little 33-64 was not just an amazing "scout" truck but also had some impressive performance when hauling trailers and cargo
I think gamewise it is great that Mack Defense is in S tier, since for roleplaying purposes I do not bring US and RU vehicles over to the "wrong" maps. However it makes total sense that RU vehicles dominate in offroad category. In the west we just do things differently, I live in area with logging stations being next to a paved road. The dedicated machines like Komatsu 901XC harvester and transporters like the Aramatsu Forester bring the logs to the logging stations, while the transport itself is done by "highway" trucks like Volvo or Scania, I imagine USA is similar to western Europe in that way. We will sooner pave a road for long distances, while Russia that has abundance of cheap diesel would rather have offroad vehicles over road maintenance somewhere in Siberian forests. To expand on this I feel NA maps should reflect it more in a form of building paved road infrastructure as map progression mission and then have long paved roads that are a pain for mudtire trucks, making highway semi hauling of offroad vehicles a viable playstyle.
That would be kickass honestly, but make you work for it, like make it take a metric fuckload of cement and concrete to build said roads, make the 8 space trailer useable for once
Additional observations, now that I've rewatched this. - If I were making an offroad truck tier list, overall it would look very similar to yours, but I wouldn't be as generous as you are with the Azov 5319. For me, it's an A-tier truck, and not even top of the A tier. I guess it boils down to different gameplay styles. I've found the 5319 to be a good truck with the Highrange gearbox, but any other gearbox choice makes this beast sluggish and even more fuel-consuming. And when I use it with the Highrange gearbox (a gearbox I don't favour in general), I often have a hard time controlling the truck. I also avoid using the heavy crane with it because I found it surprisingly unstable with it. The multi-purpose cargo module is a blessing and a curse for this truck. A blessing because it gives the 5319 more fuel, thus more range. A curse because, since it's a heavy addon, it makes the truck burn even more fuel, and it makes the truck a bit less stable. Again, it's a matter of personal preferences, not a criticism towards your tier list, which is excellent. It's just that, the way I play the game, the Azov 5319 is never the first choice for any mission. - The Step Pike in my tier list would be in the lowest position of the S tier. One simple reason: this truck has handled everything I've thrown at it, and then some. I don't know if it's the perfect combination of tyres, truck weight and engine, but for me it's the truck where the MHS II tyres perform at their best. Mud or dirt don't stop this truck. I never got it stuck anywhere. - My favourite Voron is actually the AE-4380. For pretty much the same reason I love the Pike: it gets shit done quite efficiently, I find it to be the least tippy of the Vorons, and with OHD I or MHS II tyres it is pretty much unstoppable. - The Tayga Brothers are at the top of my offroad tier list as well. But I tend to favour the 6455B more. So many tyre options. Basically all the addons. I wish I had the time to set up a NG+ challenge where I only have to use the 6455B and no other truck (except for scouts) to complete a region. I bet this truck could do it. In my several playthroughs I never tipped the 6455B, but I have tipped the 6436. That's why I think that the 6436 needs dually tyres more than the 6455B. Sorry for the verbiage. I enjoy your tier lists and truck observations so much (otherwise I wouldn't watch a 1-hour video twice!), so keep up the good work. Can't wait for your Heavy category tier list! Cheers, man! //Rick
My main complaints with the azov 5319 is the gas tank size and the ground clearance, i find it utter bullshit that this thing only holds 53 gallons.... There are civilian vehicles that can almost match that..... And the ground clearance is mainly what screws me when going through mud lol, other than that great truck to me
Man, I love my M91. It is my work truck. I show up my friends all the time in it! It has a lot of power with a little weight. Pull super heavy with it since the frame does sit high and can pull it without TOO much issue. Love that truck!
Cool video, some food for thought there for sure! For what it's worth I've been using a Tatra 805 fitted with UOD2s as a small fuel tanker since my first playthrough of the game, it'll get anywhere if you're not going to fast with it and its smaller tank is fine since I'm always confident I can get it back to where I need it without an issue when it's time to refill the thing. Would never be my pick for deliveries or hauling trailers but for the go-anywhere refuel unit it's always been handy to me :)
Great video Nathan! I know you didn’t try to get all info as you have reviews for all of these and have done previous tier lists. Just some random things Freightliner m916a1 has its fine tune in Maine which is kind of odd considering every other trucks is in Wisconsin. (I think) just another kinda bummer how far you gotta play to get that if you play in order. Yes the collision model for the 5319 is crazy. Keep up the good work Nathan!
Always enjoy your perspective, these tier lists are fun. Great work as always, glad to see the love for the Acteon - I had a lot of fun scouting Amur with it.
I know it`s not that well loved, but I personally really love the Paystar 5700, and it`s generally my go-to for a sideboard bed + crane + trailer combo with raised suspension and duallys on all american maps, despite the lack of stability. I`d say the chalange of keeping up speed and not tipping is probably part of why I enjoy it so much
I don't ever use half the off road class because by the time I get them I already have 2 others that are similar but better. The Grad in particular, would be magic if say you got it early on in Russia but instead its rank locked and has to compete with the Tayga 6436, the other Vorons and the Azov....and thats just from the OG rigs. When we bring the DLCs in its sorta just no contest. Also side note: Bandit works pretty well on dual tires. Front will dig in to the ground and find the traction to really move while the rear still gives you that much needed stability under load.
Personally I'd put the 64131 at the top, nothing has been able to beat it in the offroad class imo, the slow speed is a small trade off for a truck that performs like a heavy class truck
Thx for this looong vid. I think, I agree with 98% of it. That is why I have 70 trucks or so, including the "sleepers" as you called them. It is nice to get a lower tier truck working. And yes, the Azov "64" is just great, if its "speed" :D is fine with the playstyle Greetings from Germany, Christian
The problem with the Azov 43-191 is the fact that its internal storage is awful. It's a race truck so i get it can't two stuff, i'd be happy to use it as a heavy scout/support vehicle but the problem is it can't support so using it as a scout only is not worth it given we have other scout/support vehicles. If imo it had proper internal storage with about 600-800 repair points, 100-200 liters of fuel and the very blatant 2 or 4 spare wheels that IT SHOULD have given it has the spare wheels dents in the back of the body then it would've been a good vehicle imo. Sure no twoing ability but given it's a bit weighty and it has the power and grip it could be a damn good rescue truck. . . . .if it had the aforementioned supplies which i think would be fairly balanced anyway, these race trucks are mainly made for long and harsh rally events like the Dakar, they have alot of supplies in the back so why the devs were genuinely stupid enough to ruin this vehicle by making it as far from reality and as useless as possible idk. Probably greed ruined their cognitive functions😂😂 I rlly wish these devs would take their heads out of their asses and make a "operation health" type of update, a proper "look back at and rebalance everything" update cuz the game is a mess, vehicles that could have a purpose have none and those that can do certain stuff can do literally everything not to mention addons and trailers are the most unbalanced mess ever, some smaller trailers can carry as many things and supplies as big ones, some trailers and addons that blatantly should have supplies like fuel and repairs given they have toolboxes and tanks have nothing, scout fuel trailers for exemple are 3 to 4 times smaller than truck fuel cistern yet carry half the fuel so the cisterns are overly big and have a tiny capacity for their sizes, the CAT(both of them) fuel addons are twice as big as the already inferior normal truck cistern and yet carry slightly more fuel. The game's balance is a mess and the devs only care about making as much paid trash as possible which is disappointing.
My only change is the Civ ANK to A. It's just a monster for cargo with a trailer. The fuel issue is solved by just packing a scout trailer on the step deck. Imo, if the ANK had a crane and roof rack it would be S tier. Also, you can sell basically everything early game and get a Civ which will just kill most of Michigan.
I've always considered the Sprinter more of a "Super Scout", even though its not technically a scout. It can pretty much go anywhere you want and has loads of fuel, and if you need to get to a rolled and/or stuck truck quickly, this is your rig. That said, I'd agree that D is a good place for it, outside of scouting, racing, and the occasional rescue, its very limited in what it can do
Details of the discussion are interesting to hear. A thing about "tier listing" vehicles that doesn't really work is that some are good generalists, and some are best as specialists or support. Even if 75% of the game is done in a 6x6 with 2 slot bed, you still need your specialists and support vehicles when you need them.
I do definitely take specialists into consideration when making these. Also those applications probably fall more in line with the Heavy class because they have so many different type of trucks. Some of more focused and other are more like the off-road or heavy duty essentially imho
The short Freightliner is actually good for a high saddle truck. The high saddle trailers are almost all fairly long, so having a sort frame truck makes swinging the bigger trailers around easier on tight turns. Kinda like those shunt yard trucks. Plus it has enough power and torque for the heavier loads.
Hi Nathan, thanks for this tier list. Love the tier videos. As another seasoned veteran here, I would almost entirely agree with this list. I despise the Mack Defense though - It gets caught up on everything, and its long wheel base makes it a high-centre candidate. It would be a B-tier for me, at best, don't like it. I think you nailed the rest. I am a huge Tayga 6436 & 6455b fan, and they rightly deserve their respective positions (and the Grad too - beast of a truck). Edit - I use my 6455b as a medium logging truck, slow and steady and it just never stops.
Awesome video, buddy. These technical videos are the best and thanks for all the work you put in. For balance sake, I don't put cranes on trucks unless I know I'm going to need one. If I roll it, I'm going to need another truck anyway so I let the rescue truck bring the crane to reload me. It helps out a lot especially for trucks that are already tippy. I keep the DAN and Force loaded with the new maintenance add-on with the crane and they sit on maps just for rescue duty.
The Crocodile absolutely belongs there. It is a point and shoot beast, extremely stable, and has fuel all over it. Both its unique sideboard and service body have an extra fuel supply. That thing is my jam.
The Azov 6 is for sure a gem that can do pretty mutch anything so long as u dont drive it straight down into the ocean. I would say the only thing that holds it from clearly being in the top 10 trucks in Snowrunner is its speed. If this truck was just abit faster for those times your not in a mud area it would for sure be 1 of the best trucks in the game and its unlocked at lvl2 (i think)
Yea but thats the wrong mindset, this game is all about "slow is smooth and smooth is fast" kind of thing, you do you, but i personally dont see the point of just gunning it when not in mud, or snow, ive done that a couple of times and flipped the trailer cuz these heavy ass trucks have a hard time slowing down lmfao
@@themanwithnoname1839 I´m not suggesting to be able to gun it like a highway truck with a highrange gearbox. But the Azov 6 is annoyingly slow when u drive on paved areas and hard dirt soil.
@@NProvince If you look at your tier list and say... listen for a few seconds from the Offroad one from two years ago, then the Offroad one from one year ago, and then this one from 4 months ago, you'll see the quality changes quite significantly.
The 114SD was my go-to truck in Alaska once I got all the infrastructure unlocked. There’s so many long-haul missions there, and this thing just sips gas and moves really well when you’re not dealing with heavy terrain. Definitely a sleeper truck. It won’t get you through really heavy stuff, but if you’ve got a lot of cargo to deliver far away over moderate terrain and icy roads, this thing is a beast. The Azov 64131 is an excellent truck. It excels in pretty much everything you ask it to do. But, there’s one cardinal sin it commits: it’s boring. It almost does its job too well, so much so that it just isn’t fun to play with in my opinion. I’d almost have more fun with a crappy mobile game and just clicking a single button to deliver something than drive across a map in this truck. Just too slow and steady with no pizazz. I want a truck that’s going to try and kill me if I hit a bump wrong! This thing just feels like sitting leisurely on your patio sipping a cup of tea rather than hopping on a quad bike and going out to play in the dirt. Lol As opposed to the Mack M917. Is it as refined as the Azov? No. Is it as capable as the Azov? Not quite. It is, however, a hell of a lot more fun to drive than the Azov. Whereas the Azov just kind of feels like it does everything for you, the Mack feels like you have to fight it a little to get the most out of it. You earn the Mack’s performance, while the Azov you just kind of get it handed to you like an inheritance from your grandpa.
Thanks for all the time and effort you put into your reviews and tier lists Nate! I love seeing what other trucks people enjoy and rank them especially with as much experience as you have. I really wish the Warthog had more weight in the front as you said. I just like the looks of that truck but because of the steering issues when hauling saddle trailers, I limit it to scouting. haha Take care and god bless!
39:13 Hello Nathan and thank you for your efforts! I have discovered the Zikz 566a and I am very impressed. I wonder if the 200kg of the TMHS makes up for the size loss from 47 inches to 43 inches? The data clearly speaks for the TMHS, but it somehow feels wrong to choose a smaller tire. It's a shame that the 47 inch TMHS is not available. Stay healthy Nathan and thank you very much!
Being that the TMHS is a heavier tire option than the normal 100kg tires. Yes I think those are probably the best option despite their height. Great question by the way. The heavier tire is always gonna be better. This is one of the very very few trucks that have different tire options that have differing weights associated. The other off the top of my head is the boar and we’ve shown how well it pulls with its heavier tire
Tbh, I dont relaly use it. It is capable, very much so, but it is PAINFULLY SLOW. And I know I can´t go always fast af like 60kmh+, but dear god, it is so boring to drive it.
I've been playing a new game plus save where I have to pay for fuel like in hard mode. It really does make me appreciate efficient trucks. And I also have it so trucks and trailers sell for half their value, so I have to think twice rather than being able to sell and rebuy things at will. Although I have a few things that make the game easier, such as starting at max level so I can buy anything if I can afford it (upgrades included). I kept free vehicle recovery, but no free repairs or refuels at the garage. And free changing of region, because I like being able to have a change of scenery. I think I started with literally no money too. New game+ has changed the way I play and breathed new life into the game for me. Thinking about buying the Azov 64131!
Good list you made. The fuel consumption or gearbox selection of Freightliner M916 hurts. I love what this truck could and should be: a cute stubby semi, perfect for pulling saddle low offroad on narrow or winding roads, but the fuel consumption penalty of the offroad gerabox sadly makes it unusabel for me. I can't do a job and get back before running out. I would run a standard gearbox if i could, just to not burn 18l/min.
The gearbox is essentially the same as the normal off-road gearbox at 40% AWD penalty. What I would do since this truck has always on Diff is most times leave your AWD off and allow diffs to stay on 100% of the time. This will knock the AWD penalty off in places you feel you don’t need all wheels engaged. Usually with weight on rear axles and its diff lock will suffice in a lot of places. That might help a little with fuel consumption but overall its fuel tank is smaller as well
Just started watching. I don't understand why you use top engines on the smaller 4x4 offroad class trucks - they have great PtW even with the stock one. I use Warthog with a radar module mod, it's the only addon that fits on that stump of a frame. JAT doubles really help, it's become pretty hard to roll over. Actaeon belongs to C class as well, not really better than Warthog - and it serves as a small repair truck in my fleet. Fun truck, but should be a scout - and the tank is too small. The 566A is (un)really good, but its top engine once again is too much for its weight, esp. given the always-on AWD. I keep it as a 1-slot bed +crane hauler - and a 2nd one as a water carrier (love the looks of the tank!). The 5368 is rarely used, but I occasionally roll it out for semitrailer use. It's happened to be positioned between Transtar and CT681 in my low saddle fleet, and I usually pick either of those two than the Zikz.
Another feature of the Tuz-16 is that with UOD 2 tires and the fuel carrier giving extra weight, it is basically the fastest 'scout' truck in the game through heavy snow. The downside of course is you lose a lot of stability in return for snow cruising since the tires are narrower (it won't work with the balloons), but it's possible some of the new dlc tires would work the same.
Yes that is true. I think you’re referring to xtflectcher’s video and findings. Indeed a thinner tire produces faster results pending you aren’t slowed down by vehicle collision mesh meeting the surface itself. This was also tested on my JAT tire review and 2 other tires videos
And this is why there's so much subjectivity in the gane. Had I watched this before playing I would have focused on the negatives and never used the 5070. As it is, that carried me through all of Michigan until the P16 in Drummond Island. Paystar is Beststar. Almost any truck is a good truck if you use it and get used to it and like it. I think it's hard once you get the OP trucks to settle back down and appreciate the statistically mid trucks that are just as enjoyable.
Step 310E is definitely worth an A- for me. It's just a great capable truck. Not the best ofc but it have never failed me where other 'better' trucks sometimes have. And that 'Voin' engine is such a gem. Just hit the throttle, kick it into H-gear and enjoy the ride. The thing barely peeks over 10L/min while other trucks can easily hit past the 15L/min mark doing the same job and it rarely needs AWD, which also means it gets good milage out of the smaller fuel tank. I just like this truck a lot. :) Also, interesting thing I noticed in my NG+ with 'random trucks in every garage' is that the stock suspension comes with a wider front wheel-base than the raised kit does which makes the front pretty stable, while the raised kit reverses that and makes the rear wheel-base a bit wider instead. Also since it comes stock with that special engine, getting it early means you only really need a gearbox and some tires for this truck to make it shine despite not having any of the Taymyr upgrades yet. Edit: Correction, it's the wheel size that decides the stance of its wheel-base, not the suspension.
Another Step 310E fan here. A lot of people say the Step Pike is underrated, but the 310E even more so, in my opinion. It's a strong little truck and one of the best at fuel consumption. I try to use it as often as possible. //Rick
Huge fan myself almost to the point it coulda been in A tier tbh. However I do think it’s a very strong B+ and that’s a good spot for a truck that only has 43” tires and no heavy weight tires. It really speaks to how good it is. I love it!
I hope the 'Heavy' tier list will be long too 👍👍 Azov 64131 is a beast aka Mr. Reliable 💪S+ Azov Sprinter would be cool if it had like at least 500 repair parts and tires in the back.
Shortly after the introduction of two Land Rovers, when the new update brought custome game mode, I made a test of 3 offroad trucks I liked the most: the Mk38, the 5070 and the 114SD. The test course was driving from the black river garage to Smithville Dam garage using the northern part of the map and crossing the river. I measured only the fuel consumed, cos I'm too not a fast pace player. Maybe ideally I should've chosen something more challenging, but I don't plan to use american trucks in russian regions, and the entirity of non-DLC american regions are pretty mild offroading. The results were quite a bit surprising! First, Paystar STRUGGLES to get traction, this thing will spin the wheels even on paved road, switching off AWD is like not an option on rough terrain. Its rear suspension completely lacks compression travel (you can see that by adding a fuel add-on in garage - it doesn't squat whatsoever). Its fuel consumption was by far the worst, it almost ran out of fuel. I don't know why devs hate Paystar so much, it's the prettiest truck in the game with the cabin protector and a flat bed😢 114SD is good, though not great. It definitely pulls trailers tgrough deep mud better than my benchmark - the FleetStar 2070, but it consumes about the same amount of fuel as the freaking ANK. Yes, it does have a big tank, but it barely compensates for its meh fuel economy. Instead of that weak and slow option that, on the other hand, will never need a refill, it actually is just marginally better than your average american offroad truck. And it doesn't even have a SRW option, like the other two. ANK is... It was definitely intended to be BY FAR the best american offroad truck in the game. Forget add-ons, you can always have your HD trucks do the job. The Mk38 is an elite offroader that is meant to do deliveries in the harshest conditions or work as a rescue rig. It's so powerful and heavy it flies over any terrain in top gears (I always use standard gearbox, it consumes less fuel). Yes, the 200 liter fuel tank is on the lower side, and its powerful engine (singular because I see no point in upgrading the engine), but the consuption in Snowrunner measured in liters per minute, not liters per mile, and because it's so fast, you don't really run out of fuel that quickly. Doing that course both ANK and Freightliner consumed like 130 liters, while Paystar sipped 200! Insane! To me tippiness is not a huge problem, but looks is. Paystar already looks tall with standard suspension, but to solve that rear suspension issue it needs the raised one. And even that doesn't really solves it, it doesn't magically transform into an ANK 2.0, it just gets a little better. And you can't even put bigger wheels on! Like what is wrong with the devs?!
Good list, pretty much agree with all, though I haven't played much with Year 3 trucks on my hardmode campaign. One thing I would say is I haven't had as much success with the smaller offroad trucks as you, the Crocodile still feels to me like it gets bogged down even in medium snow/mud. Weirdly, the Acteon on 43" UODs I find does a great job cutting through terrain, better than the Croc, and also better than 47" tires or balloons. There was a reddit post a couple of years ago by xt-fletcher which argued that smaller/narrower tires on certain trucks perform better. Some scouts were actually better on smaller OS tires rather than big MS (this was before JATs of course). Maybe it's also why the Mack Defense also does very well even on 46"s. I'm thinking of trying those stock UCD tires on some Eastern trucks to see if they're sometimes better than the TMHS option. Also tried the Kenworth 963 on its stock tires, like you suggested for more grip on hills, it does do better and still pretty good in mud, I like it.
Thank you. Yea I’ve seen his reddit post and videos as well. I have found similar things with the narrow tracks and are shown on all 3 tire videos that I have on the channel.
I can say that in practice, UCD tires in mud perform better than any UAD, but they are seriously inferior to UOD II and TMHS of any size. Especially when crossing rivers, their grip is too weak.
Super job as always man👍👏💪 i appreciate knowledge mixed with strong opinions yes knowing the game blinfolded almost to the nuts and bolts. I want to rave a second for me findithe tayga and fighting to get it working was still one of the best moments i ever had on this game, that truck is to me the pinnacle of snowruyit should be on the cover game not the hummer 💪🔥 imo
Man, I'm envious of how you (PC) can fart through (as we say in Norwegian) the tire options. Playing on PS and using half a working day to get down to the mudtires.
One thing abour the step is that it's only acquired on basically the last map of the base game, were it's eaten alive by how harsh it is. I think swapping it with the tayga might have been smart as then the step would at least have some use.
@@NProvince It's not the step's capabilities more just the Zimmegorsk on taymer is alot of super conditions, especially where it's found. That and being the last new truck in found in the base game, i think it's just a case of being something that if it'd be accessible on drowned lands it'd have shone way more and be appreciated for the truck it is instead of forgotten. Same as the ford 114SD really.
I think I fixed the Phoenix. Playing with a steering wheel wich forces the wheels to be where I tell the steeringwheel. Wich means the slow turning isn’t an issue. Aditoinally i limit the steering wheel so I don’t have to spin it that much. It turns on a dime with direkt reaction to input. I am testing it right now. I’ll try to record it
Great videos. Can you also do updated videos for Scouts and Heavy trucks? That would be great. Small favour. In this video for example, you talk about every truck and click the customize tab. I love that by the way. The reason is that I like to see how you have each truck set up. Which leads me to the favour. Could you have your tires and suspension and gearbox set to the optimal options in your opinion for each truck so I can try those options out in my game. Like for example, in some trucks based on your findings, you go with the offroad option instead of the mudtires. Then some you go with the mud. That is what I am interested in. When you first click the customize tab, I can see the all 3 of them and I copy them and then apply them to the same trucks in my game. If you decide to do that, thank you very much in advance. I would greatly appreciate it.
playing on switch with longer loading screen time has made me use OP trucks, but i liked the faster trucks cuz the loading time was so slow it made up for it, now i like trucks like the tatras as a support vehicle rather than plowin through the mud at full speed, for example, I completed all the garage tasks in phase 6 basically just using the azov64131 and voron ae, cuz they could handle the mas amounts of cargo or even go fast
I'm one of those weird people who plays with a wheel, so that means the steering speed is a non-issue, and I'm an exclusive highrange guy that always goes full send. But, even considering that, as someone who has also been playing since launch day, my tier list looks nearly identical, but with these changes: Azov 64131: High B tier truck. I know that'll hurt feelings lol, but it's gearboxes are all WAY too slow for me. The tires options are too small for it's weight and ground clearance, and it immediately sinks like a rock in deep mud, and while mud doesn't usually stop it from progressing, it goes at a snails pace and drives me nuts. Yes, it's great on fuel, but it's so slow that once you finally get to the destination, you haven't actually used all that much less fuel than the Azov 5319 which walks... no... runs.... all over it. Paystar 5070: B tier. You knew this was coming, lol. It's a good truck, mainly because it's quite fast, and it's very fun to drive with a wheel (bouncy bouncy), but I cannot place it a full tier above the ANK bros, nor in the same tier as the Voron D, and feel right about it. Mainly due to it's mud performance falling so short of other B tier trucks. Freightliner M196A1: For me this one can go up to a low B. I hate the stupid box on the back which wrecks it's potential to haul the sideboard trailer without colliding with itself, but it absolutely eats with the highrange gear box and can keep pace with S tier trucks in muddy stuff until it runs out of fuel way too soon. Also, I'm going to show my own bias and create an entirely new tier of S+ for one truck, the Voron AE 4380. That is my fleet workhorse, I keep 3 of them in my garage. It handles excellently and is amazing to drive with a wheel, it's very fast with high range, it's great in deep water and mud, it's not all that thirsty for how fast it is, it can handle all the attachments just fine, it's durable, and if you run it without any attachments at all it becomes a freakin' Dakar rally truck that you can send across an entire map faster and with less drama than anything else.
Appreciate the updated list. I agree with most, if not all. 64131 is certainly S tier for me without question. I want to love the BM17 but just can't. Mahalo.
I love the BM17 personally, as long as you can keep it shiny side up it just muscles its way over terrain and sips fuel while doing it. I think the thing that trips so many people up with this truck is a similar issue to the ANK38 in that it just loves going fast and you have to consciously remind yourself to slow down at the tippy spots.
I like the Warthog a bit more than the Actaeon. I sometimes think the only reason Saber gave the Actaeon an autonomous winch is because it drives so damn horribly Saber realised you'd never get anywhere with that truck without one. The Actaeon is literally like "A straight line... what the bloody hell is that!?" The Warthog doesn't drive amazingly, but hell it's better than the Actaeon. Currently in Season 12 I got the Crocodile out fuelling one generator (really should made that the Warthog or Zikz), Tatra 805 fuelling another generator, Actaeon fuelling a third generator, the CAT 770G is over on the 4th map as a big fuel truck, and Zikz & Warthog are currently my run around emergency fuel trucks. btw there is one task I can't seem to complete right now. I forget the name off hand but it's a water mission on the... I want to say Flatlands (I think). You need to bring water to this little lodge or cabin up in the hills. I have a fully loaded water semi-trailer up there and the game won't let me unload water to complete the task. Are you or anyone else having problems with that task?
I rate neither higher just due to those updates. The Phoenix is still in a decent place and the wathog, despite the auto winch is griefing yourself when you use it. Id much rather use a scout or the actaeon
@@NProvinceyeah I know. The autowinch doesn’t safe it at all. It is one of the few vehicles that are just unpleasant to drive. The phoenix on the other hand can now multistack cargo and I think I’ll use it more often now.
In a lot of cases they are better. I would watch my videos on this subject. I have 3 videos concerning tires on the channel under “other helpful SnowRunner Videos” playlist. I think they will answer that question better than I can with a comment :) 1st video: ruclips.net/video/dIILT6cWQsE/видео.htmlsi=s8G1hn-dIzDxIari 2nd video: ruclips.net/video/V8lEcwFleFo/видео.htmlsi=o646rrxdAB3IVhOg 3rd video: ruclips.net/video/M_267xI6Nr0/видео.htmlsi=45RgQeB6TbME12Pt
this is unrelated, but have you ever noticed that the loadstar is way faster with smaller tires on dirty terrain? i think this could be an interesting video
I've made the argument that the Sprinter is as bad or worse than the CAT 770G. It's capability in any soft ground is poor, due to low hitboxes and just 4 tires for it's weight. Even a weak AWD truck (eg CT680/HX520) is more capable, and just as good as a scout. And the amount of supplies are pitiful. And it isn't even "sporty"- many or most highrange trucks fill that role better. Surprised by the large gap between the 2 Zixzs. The 5368 is actually slightly more capable in my testing, but I prefer the 566A due to it's weight/handling characteristics- cabovers tend to be noseheavy. Otherwise they are extremely similar, but I'm sad the 566A doesn't get a 2 slot bed. Also has unique slower gearboxes for some reason. Acteon/Warthog are improved by the JAT dual rear muds, but I was dissapointed that vanilla tires didn't get the duals. My testing of the JAT offroads on the KRS Bandit was disappointing (doesn't have MMDs, oddly), the UOD2s are just a superior tire. I'm not sure why Saber didn't put the 805 in the scout class, similar size and weight to the Loaf/H2/800. One nice thing about the Acteon is it'll fit in a 2 slot sideboard, like small scouts. The Pike was my favorite truck in the game for a while, and the Mack is probably the best N/A truck in the game overall, aside from possibly the Kenny 963.
There is only one S tier truck, Voron Grad! If it would have crane-sideboard bed-hitch combo then it would be completely op. Crocodile is fun, point and shoot! And i also like Step 310e more then Pike, except small fuel tank.
Sideboard bed, crane combo actually isn’t better than semi trailer through conditions. This was explained in prior videos and from jellyfoosh back in Feb 2020 before the game released. You’re essentially pulling more dead weight than you have on your truck when you could benefit from that weight being on your rear axles with a semi. I’d give it a shot sometime
@@NProvinceits a game and everyone can play it how they want! I will explain my gaming way: i am truck driver in real life and i drive 25m trucks in sweden. So for me is important to load max cargo in one trip. In snowrunner sideboard bed and ramped flatbed is the closest thing to 25m roadtrain and i can load 8 slots of cargo on it, where i use crane as securing method for second layer of cargo on truck. If im honest, there is 4 things wich i dont like in snowrunner and wich take away some of the realism: no double stacking options, straps come loose when i tilt the truck a little, no keyboard button for activating beacons (this is my biggest dislike).
Super Mud Or Snow. These areas are more present in the Year 1 (seasons 1-4) and a few of the Year 2 maps, but they are not present in newer maps. Also I might add these conditions that are present in said maps, there arent many areas riddled with them
@@Brentonzweng0 There are areas in the Base game that have these super conditions. One of them is an are on North Port, Alaska that is essentially a huge mud pit. You probbaly have seen a few areas in the base gaem
@@NProvinceregarding your hard mode advice about the Croc - I remember the time when its cost was $16k, even lower than bow. It was my first hard mode purchase.
What I find really unenjoyable about Snowrunner, are the bad sounds, the rediculous gearbox/traction/power system and the extremely biased performance of vehicles. Not towards russian trucks, but rather that a light ZIKZ truck with very good ground clearance, perfect tyres for mud and not too much weight cannot perform like a vehicle the developers decided is better. Although physics and logic and real life dictates a similar performance. And I never needed to not go full throttle. It's basically on off for me, because they stupidly made the system highly unrealistic in which you get grip by choosing the right gear, not managing the right wheel speed. A real bummer to car and technic/physics geek.
Glad that there are folks out there that understand the fact that SR isnt reality. It does a good job at some things, but your explanation was very good on this
@@NProvince I'm mostly frustrated, since in the past they did a better job at it. I very quickly looked into Mod trucks, simply to get a more realistic driving experience. If you are a vehicle combination with a weight of 50 tons and rushing towards some mud at 50 km/h, you won't stop at an instant. You just don't, the inertia and carried energy is so large, that physics demand mud to act more solid and will grant the vehicle less-sinking-in hence being able to cross mud easier. Just like water at highspeed is like concrete thanks to inertia, mud follows the same rules. But the developers decided to make this game difficult at chosen points just because, not because it would really be. You don't have extremely deep mud on top of hills...water seeps through the earth downwards, I shouldn't be fighting atop a hill against mud while the whole hill is green with grass, which doesn't grow on mud or swamp.
Does anyone play on steam? I have the game on Xbox pc. And I can’t get any mods to download. I thought I would buy the game on steam and give that a try?
@@caydenkennison5444 true but it feels like NA trucks are artificially handicapped, like most off-road NA trucks don’t even get mud tires and the power specs are restricted so hard
It sure seems that way. American trucks just seem to be less capable and with worse tire options overall, maybe because they either are truly better irl because they are made for Russia´s harsh terrain or because the devs wanted it to be that way 🤷♀
I was attempting to keep this one shorter due to having Truck Reviews to elaborate, but we did carry on longer than expected. Also forgive any times I've misspoken on this one as well. Speaking for over an hour straight is not my strength. The Heavy Tier List WILL be much shorter :)
Year 4 is announced, any expectations?
I would expect similar things as Year 3 imho with some changes Im sure. Im just hoping more mid tier trucks come out and not just huge heavies :)
Probably, but I honestly still feel bad about Chernobyl DLC, Season 12 is good but imo Chernobyl would be way better
@@kiberkotlechka3005with all these powerful trucks, who knows, we could get an amur 2.0.
but a chernobyl DLC with a harsh terrain and atmosphere would be perfect for it ^^
Bro, don't worry about how long the vid is, personally, I love knowing new stuff about every truck in the game. Keep it up!
Nathan:"I don´t want to make another 45 minute review or tier maker list like I did for the highway and heavy duty trucks..." Also Nathan... BOOOM! 1 hour 12 minutes long video :D
Ya that is something I would do lol. Next one WILL be shorter. (watch it even be longer) lol
In his defense there are a lot of off road class trucks
@@NProvince actually I personally don't mind them being longer, I usually watch videos while playing Sr and I mostly watch yours so it's soothing and nice, the longer you make them, the more I hear them while playing
@@NProvince nah longer ones are better
😂
Honestly, i quite enjoy these long videos, as it allows you to develop why you believe each truck goes to it's spot, it feels like a class review, as you kinda review all of the trucks in the class
Glad you enjoy it. The truck reviews really have more of the detail as a whole as well
Love the tier lists! They are like mini reviews for each truck and give a perfect overview. Will definitely come back to some trucks I skipped before. Thanks for your effort.
Glad you enjoyed this!
Love my "Crocodile" I wish we had more 1 slot cargo missions. Thank you for your efforts Nathan!
Thank you for this. Mack Defense has been one of my favorites now that they have fixed it.
One of my favorites too
Honestly mack defense is kinda shit, for an eight wheeled vehicle its REALLY bad at getting through mud, even with mud tires lmfao, which really confuses me, compare mack defense to the tuz scout vehicle, aint no damn reason a scout should be outperforming a truck designed to do this kind of shit lmfao rofl
Glad you have been enjoying the Croc!
NP's opinion about any truck summarized: He does like it quite a lot. And he's used it quite a bit. He likes to haul low saddle with it.
This guy knows!
I know you were aiming for a shorter video but i'm glad it was longer! very awesome to watch while i'm getting into the game! thanks!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video, don't be ashamed about going long on this. I appreciate the effort and depth! Keep it up!
Thank you! I appreciate that that
Additional observations, now that I've rewatched this.
Ahh JJ that is right! I forgot about that. That’s really good attention to detail brother
@@NProvince I just found it very odd so it sticks with for some reason lol.
Guys your videos are great, fun and entertaining keep up your great work.
@@Danko05 thank you Danko I think I can speak for Nathan on this too we both appreciate it!
Love that take!
Thx for this looong vid. I think, I agree with 98% of it. That is why I have 70 trucks or so, including the "sleepers" as you called them. It is nice to get a lower tier truck working. And yes, the Azov "64" is just great, if its "speed" :D is fine with the playstyle
Greetings from Germany,
Christian
You're welcome! Thank you for those kind words
Probably greed ruined their cognitive functions😂😂
I rlly wish these devs would take their heads out of their asses and make a "operation health" type of update, a proper "look back at and rebalance everything" update cuz the game is a mess, vehicles that could have a purpose have none and those that can do certain stuff can do literally everything not to mention addons and trailers are the most unbalanced mess ever, some smaller trailers can carry as many things and supplies as big ones, some trailers and addons that blatantly should have supplies like fuel and repairs given they have toolboxes and tanks have nothing, scout fuel trailers for exemple are 3 to 4 times smaller than truck fuel cistern yet carry half the fuel so the cisterns are overly big and have a tiny capacity for their sizes, the CAT(both of them) fuel addons are twice as big as the already inferior normal truck cistern and yet carry slightly more fuel.
The game's balance is a mess and the devs only care about making as much paid trash as possible which is disappointing.
Right, I wish it had mode to offer players as support
My only change is the Civ ANK to A. It's just a monster for cargo with a trailer. The fuel issue is solved by just packing a scout trailer on the step deck. Imo, if the ANK had a crane and roof rack it would be S tier. Also, you can sell basically everything early game and get a Civ which will just kill most of Michigan.
If it did have a crane it probably would be a lot higher in my opinion as well
I've always considered the Sprinter more of a "Super Scout", even though its not technically a scout. It can pretty much go anywhere you want and has loads of fuel, and if you need to get to a rolled and/or stuck truck quickly, this is your rig. That said, I'd agree that D is a good place for it, outside of scouting, racing, and the occasional rescue, its very limited in what it can do
I didn't think of using it as rescue vehicle, thanks. Might try it for this role.
I really enjoy how it drives, so maybe that's just me trying to find an excuse to use it.
Freightliner 114 has some of the best suspension (air bags) out of all of the trucks and with its quick steering make this truck shine.
I really respect your acknowledgment of your bias
Thank you
Hi Nathan, thanks for this tier list.
You’re welcome, glad you mostly agree :)
Thank you Rob! I appreciate that
The Crocodile absolutely belongs there.
It's kind of fun seeing the sound quality go up every update, lol.
Sound quality?
@@NProvince If you look at your tier list and say... listen for a few seconds from the Offroad one from two years ago, then the Offroad one from one year ago, and then this one from 4 months ago, you'll see the quality changes quite significantly.
Ah yes, ya same mic, I just quit adding sound dampening filters. Was wanting all videos to sound like my livestreams. Glad the quality sounds better
Lol
As opposed to the Mack M917.
Glad you like them! God Bless you as well
Thank you for this tier list 😁 you're awesome
Glad you enjoyed!
Great tier list..there has to be a S+ category for the 64131 though.. What a monster! 😂
Love this comment!
Tbh, I dont relaly use it. It is capable, very much so, but it is PAINFULLY SLOW. And I know I can´t go always fast af like 60kmh+, but dear god, it is so boring to drive it.
Oh yes that truck is so capable, i call it Mr Reliable. It is on my top 3 truck list
@@Pizza_2921 True I haven't used it at all in most regions due to this reason.. But it saved me from Rage quitting Amur and Kola!!
It is boring af
The Freightliner M1 got a fair shake here, it is an amazing truck, if you need that trailer.
I like this truck! Love the always on diff as well
Another feature of the Tuz-16 is that with UOD 2 tires and the fuel carrier giving extra weight, it is basically the fastest 'scout' truck in the game through heavy snow.
Oh cool! I'll have to go check those out, thanks!@@NProvince
Thr Paystar 5070 is amazing early game. Has amazing tires and abilities for when everything is locked. I used it and liked it
I agree! The 5070 is a clear A tier vehicle for me. Im bullish on the 5070
Step 310E is definitely worth an A- for me. :)
Also, interesting thing I noticed in my NG+ with 'random trucks in every garage' is that the stock suspension comes with a wider front wheel-base than the raised kit does which makes the front pretty stable, while the raised kit reverses that and makes the rear wheel-base a bit wider instead. Also since it comes stock with that special engine, getting it early means you only really need a gearbox and some tires for this truck to make it shine despite not having any of the Taymyr upgrades yet.
Edit: Correction, it's the wheel size that decides the stance of its wheel-base, not the suspension.
Good take, The 310E is really a good truck
Another Step 310E fan here. A lot of people say the Step Pike is underrated, but the 310E even more so, in my opinion. It's a strong little truck and one of the best at fuel consumption. I try to use it as often as possible. //Rick
Huge fan myself almost to the point it coulda been in A tier tbh. However I do think it’s a very strong B+ and that’s a good spot for a truck that only has 43” tires and no heavy weight tires. It really speaks to how good it is. I love it!
Thank you, I spot same about Mac he is very god and I use him with High range gearbox.
I hope the 'Heavy' tier list will be long too 👍👍
Azov 64131 is a beast aka Mr. Reliable 💪S+
Azov Sprinter would be cool if it had like at least 500 repair parts and tires in the back.
Voron AE is the best truck to winch pull like a trailer due to it's unique axl mounted front winch point.
I don't know why devs hate Paystar so much, it's the prettiest truck in the game with the cabin protector and a flat bed😢
114SD is good, though not great.
Hey, this is a huge comment and I’d like to give you an answer fully. I would stop by the stream on twitch during 8-11 AM EST on weekdays.
Ya PC is quite amazing on this game
Just got PS5. Now I can also scroll at a reasonable pace 😊 farting through the list at zero comma nix 😁
If I use a truck with no diff lock, I simply use the high range gearbox, as there are very few scenarios I would use low gear
love the ZIKZ 566A its not the best but the most fun to play for me small powerhouse
One thing abour the step is that it's only acquired on basically the last map of the base game, were it's eaten alive by how harsh it is. I think swapping it with the tayga might have been smart as then the step would at least have some use.
Honestly I still think the step handles most areas really well. but thats just me
@@NProvince It's not the step's capabilities more just the Zimmegorsk on taymer is alot of super conditions, especially where it's found.
I’ll try to record it
Nice!!!
I like the Step 3, and the Voron-D also, not only because they are good and slept on, but both look like generic gta style Fords.
And I'm not a Ford guy, all I've owned is Dodge Rams.
I will doing tier lists on scouts and heavy class as well
playing on switch with longer loading screen time has made me use OP trucks, but i liked the faster trucks cuz the loading time was so slow it made up for it, now i like trucks like the tatras as a support vehicle rather than plowin through the mud at full speed, for example, I completed all the garage tasks in phase 6 basically just using the azov64131 and voron ae, cuz they could handle the mas amounts of cargo or even go fast
Grats on completing the garage tasks in phase 6!
The crocodile is my favorite truck in the whole game
I'm one of those weird people who plays with a wheel, so that means the steering speed is a non-issue, and I'm an exclusive highrange guy that always goes full send. But, even considering that, as someone who has also been playing since launch day, my tier list looks nearly identical, but with these changes:
Azov 64131: High B tier truck.
Love my Crocc, it's a beast
Appreciate the updated list. I agree with most, if not all. 64131 is certainly S tier for me without question. I want to love the BM17 but just can't. Mahalo.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it
BM17 with high range gearbox just flies through most base and year 2/3 maps.
If I need low saddle without crane somewhere fast it's my go to truck.
The Actaeon is literally like "A straight line... what the bloody hell is that!?"
The Warthog doesn't drive amazingly, but hell it's better than the Actaeon.
Previously there was an issue with water and Imperial units.
I'm not sure if that was resolved with S12 or of that's the specific issue you're having.
Justin I heard one person have this issue they restarted the task and then it let them unload. Hopefully that helps.
@@G4mingWithJJ @joshuatester8197 Thanks I'll have to try those things.
@@justinlynch3 hopefully it works! Glad to hopefully be helpful haha.
I believe JJ mentioned it, but I believe restarting worked for this one. Hope that helps
Where do you get more detailed information about the trucks? You mention torque and others but I cannot see any of this in game
Those details are on the maprunner website> resources> data spreadsheet
The Phoenix and the warthog got updates as I am shure you know. Do you rate the warthog hire with autowinch and the phoenix with crane+bed combo? 😊
Mk38 my favorite
Which one is better
so i noticed that u mostly use offroad tires instead of mudtires on a lot of trucks, is that to nit make it to easy or are they just better?
In a lot of cases they are better. I would watch my videos on this subject. I have 3 videos concerning tires on the channel under “other helpful SnowRunner Videos” playlist. I think they will answer that question better than I can with a comment :)

@@NProvince ah ok i see thx man. do you cover the jat tires aswell like to me it feels as if they are all kind of the same
@@mazzi9020 I covered them in the 3rd video
this is unrelated, but have you ever noticed that the loadstar is way faster with smaller tires on dirty terrain? i think this could be an interesting video
Never noticed that
What do you mean by "Super Conditions"?
Super conditions are the worst possible mud thickness/Snow Thickness in the game
Step Pike deserves S tier in my opinion also 310e feels like it got buffed.
Glad you agree. 310E is very strong as well
There is only one S tier truck, Voron Grad!
Mack #1
What do you mean by "super conditions"?
Super Mud Or Snow. These areas are more present in the Year 1 (seasons 1-4) and a few of the Year 2 maps, but they are not present in newer maps. Also I might add these conditions that are present in said maps, there arent many areas riddled with them
@@NProvince Ok, I was wondering because I'm almost finished with the main contracts in Alaska and I'm going to Taymyr Russia next.
@@Brentonzweng0 There are areas in the Base game that have these super conditions. One of them is an are on North Port, Alaska that is essentially a huge mud pit. You probbaly have seen a few areas in the base gaem
How do you get all those blue tire options?
That is the Jack of all treads tire pack
yes tier list!!!!!
Croc is a sleeper S.
A sleeper indeed
Tayaga 'KING' is No.1
566A and 5070 are in A? no way! They should be way lower
Personal Tier List. IMHO they are where i felt they should be :)
@@NProvinceregarding your hard mode advice about the Croc - I remember the time when its cost was $16k, even lower than bow. It was my first hard mode purchase.
Ya.. I think I remember that actually. Even at 20k ish it’s still a steal for hardmode for such a good little truck
TLDR low saddle EVERYTHING 🤣
Y’all know me too well
LETS GOOO!
Play on Steam yes and there are A TON of mods on PC. Much more than Console
I’m on pc just going through Xbox. I try to download a mod and it just sets their doing nothing, no progress on downloading.
i had speedrun this vid
Glad you ran it :)
Is there anyone else who kinda feels like there’s a Russian truck bias?
There is absolutely a bias, but the Russian maps are generally harder tbf.
@@caydenkennison5444 true but it feels like NA trucks are artificially handicapped, like most off-road NA trucks don’t even get mud tires and the power specs are restricted so hard
I agree I do wish the NA trucks weren't so underpowered compared to the Russian trucks
It sure seems that way. American trucks just seem to be less capable and with worse tire options overall, maybe because they either are truly better irl because they are made for Russia´s harsh terrain or because the devs wanted it to be that way 🤷♀
