- Belt Kit | Using Hill People Gear as Minuteman Loadout
This is a subject I am NEW to. I have been accustomed to the way the Conventional US Military has ran their kit for the last 20ish years. On a plate carrier (or in my case IOTV 🤮) or on a chest rig (or in my case the FLC 🤮).
That means a few different things.
1) the weight rides MOSTLY on your shoulders and upper back.
2) your real-estate is pretty limited, ESPECIALLY when you’re a mounted troop.
The U.S. Army and her counterparts have been running kit this way for a long time. Contrast that with the British Infantryman setup and you have a whole different world. BELT KIT.
Why is that? There’s lots of reasons why our kit differs. I think an overarching theme here is mission set. I cannot speak for the Brits but the US military has put a lot of its focus on mounted operations. The make up of the US Army is predominantly IBCT’s (Infantry Brigade Combat Teams) in which there are a lot of dismounted infantry. With that said, the GWOT has consisted of A LOT of mounted patrolling in MRAP’s, Bradley’s, and HUMVEE type vehicles earlier on in the war. As a mounted troop your belt and back have to be generally pretty clear for you to be able to ride in vics. So in turn… you get chest rigs, plate carriers, minimum battle belts, etc.
If you go further back into history you will find that the U.S. had the ALICE system during the 70’s through the early 2000’s depending on the unit you were in. Before that the M1956 load carrying equipment (LCE) in Vietnam…. And before that the cartridge belt was the go to for US troops in World War Two and Korea. So what was once OLD… is now NEW… and so it goes!
Belt kit… why? Because it’s a) cool and b) practical depending on the *MISSION*.
Details on the kit configuration:
The tara does dock to the m2016. If my torso was a tad longer, it would work even better.
PROS: streamlined and not strappy.. looks cool too lol!
CONS: can’t access kit in pack while running it. Sweating in the heat. Another option is an ALICE pack. ALICE packs aren’t very comfortable but the airflow is great!
The GP pouches are better than traditional mag pouches IMO because they’re multi use. Need more water? Add a canteen. Need a NODs pouch? Boom!… same thing goes for smoke grenades, etc etc. Regular mag pouches are faster, but they’re more single use.
Kit Contents:
✅ Ammo x 8 mags in GP pouches + 1 in “pistol”
✅ Chow for two days, puffy jacket, hygiene kit, and weapons cleaning kit, in the #tarahumara
✅ Energy shots, snivel gear, canteen cup, 550 cord, emergency kit, poncho, H2O filter, glock field knife in m2016 buttpack from @hillpeoplegear
✅ 1 liter water bottles w/ duct tape around them x 2 in bottle holsters from HPG
✅ compass and emergency 1st line kit

People really underestimate the importance of good clothing for even just go hiking. 100% agree the only way to know your gear is to use it
Thanks for taking the time to drop a comment! Pressure testing equipment is KEY! 💯
I find it kinda funny that most 11series guys that I know have a minuteman load out have gone to LBE/backpack route. I love the ability to carry an actual 3 days worth of equipment, while weighing the same as just a plate carrier.
I think our side of the prep/patriot community realizes we’re gonna be fighting on our bellies again.
It’s just the tactical side refuses to innovate. I think people who climb the highest mountains on earth, know a lot more than a typical grunt about gear.
Curious on your take about in an urban area..I understand both sides, the plate carrier vs chest rig or lbe..I feel like for my area (urban city) I’ll take my plate carrier, battle belt, and backpack…would love any feedback
Best of luck
@@mike617 run a slick PC and do both.
"Militia nut-jobs?" WOW. 😳
Everyone is building their kits for QRF or minuteman style fighting but for me I built mine around protracted fighting, because that’s how I see any type of civil war or conflict or unrest will look like in the US, I live in WV so I plan on going to the mountains and digging in let the enemy whoever that may be come in and try to engage you on your own terms and don’t try to be a hero and face them down as a minuteman on their terms
I agree with you on clothing being important, I bought some really nice pants that I probably paid to much for but they really helped out a lot with comfort and usability it has integral knee pads and crotch vents they work well in the hot humid WV summer.
I think Field Marshal Zhukov was quoted once as saying “the worst enemy of a soldier is chaffing”
UF PRO??
@@AdaptorDieChannel no it’s a company called Survival Tactical Gear because they are russian they have to sell their gear as “airsoft” to get around any import bans they sell items on Amazon
@@loganbaileysfunwithtrains606 Do you have a link to those pants?
The words of wisdom in this video are outstanding! The amount of people all over the internet who post their loadouts or kits or whatever gear-centric nonsense and don't use it, or don't know how to properly use it, or don't know anything with regards to tactics are ridiculous.
You, on the other hand good sir, are a beacon of hope, and I truly hope that you're helping the people in your community/tribe/team to increase their abilities and lethality.
I cannot tell you how much I appreciate that brother. I do my best. I have a lot to learn myself. Thank you for the confidence and the motivation. #adaptordie
@@AdaptorDieChannel Keep pushing forward. We need more men like yourself. Keep learning, keep doing, keep fighting.
Once I retired I started realizing that the field exercise packing list is very different from what a responsible armed citizen needs to carry. S6 brought the coms, S4 brought the chow and Doc had plenty of vitamin M (Motrin).
💯 As a prepared citizen… unless you have an AMAZING logistical setup through a network of like minded folks in a community…. You are ON YOUR OWN.
And S1 doesn’t do shit 😂

Interesting LBE concepts and suggestions. Thank you!
I’m by no means an expert. Just some stuff I have worked with over my time on the trail and in my mom’s basement, LARPing 😆
I hike and over night + train in my kit.
Most of my day hikes are over nighters if im out there already just make the best of it.
That bang stick is crying for some krypton. Water tabs as a back up for the filter - I have had them break and since hydration is critical, I carry two ways to filter/purify. Interesting civilian gear set-up. Good for you for getting out and using it to test.
Completely agree about the water purification tablets. I’ve had my water filter shit the bed (because I forgot to dry it out completely after the previous trip). Water purification tablets have saved my ass lol.
I need to paint the blaster… I know 🤣
What’s also cool is you could dock the chest rig onto the front of that pack with the runners kit or just two pieces of nylon with loops at each end with slick clips attached to each loop
If you're ever in Australia and bring out bug nets you're going to get mocked, mercilessly. You don't even use bug repellent here. Taking three thousand bites a day is good for you, puts hair on your chest. Also keeps you lighter weight! Who needs those six pints of blood? We run on 1-2.

Cool vid very informative!
Thank you!!
Dude, pick up some Qore Performance IceVents pontoons for that kit. They come with sticky back velcro that they attach to and the velcro can be sewn in place later. I have a set for the shoulder straps on both my plate carriers, and its made a 10 fold difference in reducing hot spots but also distributing the load well so that they don't dig in to my shoulders so bad. The pontoons allow a ton more ventilation but also create standoff for the LBE. They sell kits for belts too that just velcro around the belt with velcro onewrap.
I’ll definitely check them out! Thanks for the recommendation.
Infantry def need to know their A,B,C’s. Ammo Beans Canteen. Good to go
Did you know that sound can also be channeled and or blocked by the contour of the terrain, that is part of why sound travels further .
Really like to know how you carry your night gear along with everything else .
good stuff man right on.
Oh yea, terrain has a ton to do with it!
I recommend looking at our more recent video on rucking.
How exactly did you dock the HPG tara to the butt pack? I think I'm going to do the same thing.
If you have a VERY long torso it will work. If not, the pack will be too long.
You can attach it via the plastic hardware on the buttpack and the small loops on the bottom of the pack. Just as you would attach a back pocket to the back of a HPG Pack. Again, I wouldn’t recommend unless you have a very long torso. It also makes it impossible to access your kit unless you take everything off.
Fellow West Virginian! Carry on
Good minimum loadout, extra points for the MRO.
I was thinking of replacing my grab and go bag with a HPG setup similar to this, but using the umlindi over the tara and buttpack
I love the umlindi. Its one of my favorite bags EVER. With that said, if I am looking to outfit a BUG OUT BAG, it will need to be XL for all my sustainment as well as ammunition and shelter. For an "assault pack" the umlindi does well.
@@AdaptorDieChannel I was thinking to run the recon belt similar to yours, with the umlindi, and with the way it attaches I could drop the pack and run the belt with my chest rig. I'm in the desert, I need to carry lots of water and snivel gear.
@@Allofthemonkeys The only issue I could see with that is how do you will have two sets of straps. You could run it as is and then just have the battle belt without shoulder straps once you take off the umlindi. The issue with that is you wouldn’t have anything to hold that heavy belt up. I think it’s important to be able to QUICKLY remove your pack if/when you have to sprint from cover to cover, under fire.
You cannot run a butt pack with the umlundi as he did here. Backpack will hang too low where the Tarahuma is shorter and you can affix the butt pack to it
I would recommend running a slim down battle belt with a smaller fanny pack and another slightly larger backpack
Good stuff just subbed!
Thanks!! 💯🇺🇸
To each their own when it comes to gear. Carry what you think you need and want to fight with. However, if a situation happens here, I see people using a fighting style similar to the Vietcong of the Vietnam War. Quick hits and attrition. To do that, a fighter needs to be quick, mobile, and light, which means a minimalist mentality when it comes to gear.
chest rigs and plate carriers cover that tbh
Sound travels further at night because of lower air density.
Kick ass video
Thank you!
Where did you get that cool m81 field top
@@actually_a_circle it was an OG one that I had someone MOD for me. It’s sweet! I can’t find the guy that did the work for me. I’d recommend looking on FB cool guy gear groups for some references.
I’m a subscriber and enjoy your channel. Lots of informative solid content. Question for ya…..do you keep and maintain some kind of inventory (written or otherwise) of your gear that’s packed or incorporated into various load outs? Trying to find a good system to track what I need what I have and a way to have inventory control if that makes sense??! Appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
Awesome question! This is something I have struggled with forever. I have TOO MUCH GEAR (just ask my wife). With that said, my recommendation is simple. Keep it as organized as possible. I have a gear room with all of my jackets and layers hung up. My cook systems, water filter and carrying systems, and general use gear in a chest of drawers that is organized. I keep ammunition and the very few ;) magazines I have in ammo boxes. Field gear is in a tough box... or two... or three lol... I would have a single tough box that is your "go to war chest" with your LBE, PPE, loaded mags, etc. ready to go.
Its also a good idea to get rid of the stuff you do not NEED. It only creates wasted space and clutter that gets in the way of everything else. My situation is a little different because I have this youtube channel. I keep gear because I want to compare it for viewers so that I can help folks that are deciding on what gear they want for their specific needs. I also have a gear addiction.... again... just ask my wife LOL.
So, in summary: have what you need and nothing more (spare warming layers, socks, and boots are never a bad idea to have in the gear room for long term stuff because that stuff wears out). Focus on investing in quality kit that will last. Run that kit hard in training. See what works best for you. Get rid of what doesn't.
I am lacking in three departments: Night vision and the ability to effectively fight at night, long term food storage, and communication equipment/ networking. So ID those failure points and come up with a plan to square 'em away.
That is probably way more than you were bargaining for but you asked... lol. I appreciate the questions!
That’s great! Much appreciated.
Does hill people gear still make the prairie belt? I can't find them in stock anywhere
They do. I haven’t checked their website in a while. I love my prairie belt. Check out the HPGOG (Hill People Gear Owners Group) on Facebook as well.

Does one need bear spray?
Very nice vid. Thank you!
Best wishes ! Thank you for your service!
Bear spray is necessary based on your AO in the US or abroad.
Luv Gucci gear, but not the price tag. Hill People gear is awesome, but simple H suspenders attached to a Condor pistol belt will allow you to mount MOLLE or zip tied ALICE pouches. Done it for years. If I’m not dead early on I will use battlefield pickup to upgrade everything I own. So don’t let money stop you from being prepared. Right now I’m running what Ukraine seems to be running. Belt and suspenders for riffle fighting and squad stuff. Which includes a robust Canteen cook set and robust IFAK each in general purpose Molle canteen pouches. And besides some mag pouches I also have 3 SAW pouches on the belt for fighting or squad load, or items to keep me in the field if no squad items, belt ammo, grenades or Mike Mike, or Smokes. A SAW pouch can carry a lot. It will fit a gortex top, or poncho shelter system. If you can’t afford a SAW pouch by a MOLLE General Purpose canteen pouch. I don’t use a buttpack as it prevents sitting and throws off weight distribution imho. I also run a simple Plate carrier with a Ceramic nylon plate in front with 3mag holders to plus up my ammo. I also use a 2 liter hydration bladder in rear. of the carrier, or placed in my assault pack. I do have a second plate but I’m not expecting to clear buildings by myself or experience shelling. I can always slip the rear plate in the assault pack. I also use an Assault pack for my bump helmet and assigned mission stuff, and for my personal ammo resupply, chow, warming layer, rain gear, etc, and for battle field pick up. If things don’t change a fight is definitely coming. Stolen elections along with Government disarmament and Government sponsored invasion of illegals, will eventually cause a revolt. As will the UN sending a military Coalition to restore peace., which will be led by China, is on the horizon. Woe to the unprepared. Support you local Sheriff. Keep it legal.
Looking like a goon is better than having a bunch of brand new gear
I agree but you shouldn’t be looking like anything. Nobody should even know how you look
Great video I have the umlindi and mt sherape as well. What is the best poncho to accommodate the sherape in your opinion?
I don’t generally use it with a poncho. If it’s cold and raining I usually have a good base layer (first spear merino), mid layer (LT hoody), and a hard shell (arc’teryx jacket).
But I do have a USGI woodland camouflage poncho that I THINK would work.
@@AdaptorDieChannel Thank you for the feedback. I was thinking the same thing
Legit setup
Thanks! I replaced a few pouches. It you want to see the newest iteration of the kit, check out my Instagram. @adaptordie.usa
How is the butt pack docked to the terrahumara?
The g hooks on the top of the buttpack are ran through the bottom loops on the tara. It works well, but then you cannot access the contents of your tara unless you take everything off. You also have to have a really long torso for it to be comfortable. Things to consider.
“Special people” lol
Where can I find a modern m81 camo set up ?
Platatac make some woodland m81 kit. So does Esstac does as well. Spiritus systems makes m81 pouches. Lots of companies out there do now. It just depends what you want to spend. For a chest rig I would go with the platatac peacekeeper. For belt kit, it’s going to be harder to find the complements but it’s doable. Just gotta search a bunch online. Old issued equipment can be found online as well in m81 woodland.
@@AdaptorDieChannel how about the BDU set ? Where can I find tops and bottoms? Btw thanks for the info
@@elbulldog8408 It all depends how much you want to spend. I have USGI surplus. Companies like Crye make limited runs of M81 gear and so does Platatac I think. Truspec makes uniforms and so does proper. All found online at varying prices from CHEAP on the used market to crazy expensive crye pants and combat top.
Tactical Tailor has started offering M81 for some of their products again. I'm eyeballing their rudder rack right now. And ATS Tactical just custom made me 4 of their general purpose pouches in M81. Tactical Tailor also offers their Removable Operator Pack in M81.
I have this exact same set up in Multicam and it's squared away. Super comfortable, and I can remove the smaller pack and go with a bigger recce pack if need be.
National Guard you can practice with your own small arms much easier than living in the barracks
How does the docking of the upper pack to the butt pack work?
There are g hooks on the buttpack that are used to attach the Tarahumara pack to it. There are tabs on the bottom of the Tarahumara pack that go through the plastic clips on the buttpack. The g hooks go through the tabs once they’re through the plastic clips and secure it. Sorry, hard to describe via text.
With this set up, you can still wear a plate carrier with extra gear
How do you use your med kit?
I usually run my medical kit in my cargo pocket so it’s ALWAYS on me, regardless of where my 2nd and 3rd line kit is.
Man did I just find my tribe here or what? We're on the same page. Squared away content!

You know, calling people on your own side "nutjobs" is a really glowie thing to do.
Sarcasm is lost on some folks… The more recent history of “the militia” is seemingly not a good one. Images of fat old guys in camo come to mind. With that being said, the traditional idea of all able-bodied men being trained to defend themselves, their families, and their communities is paramount to keeping our republic. So the traditional Militia and the concepts behind it is legitimate and necessary.
"going to DOTH this equipment...." @1:12. im pretty sure you meant ot say that you were going to DON your equipment. as the term DOTH is a singularity of "DO", and synonymous with execute, act, or achieve. im sure it was a slip of the tongue, but i wanted to point it out to you in case it wasnt, just to help you not sound like a ding dong in the future.
I used the word “Doff”, which means remove.
"militia nutjobs"...uh, ok.
"Militia nutjobs"..... So, you think it's better to go solo...?
No sir. The term "militia" has been bastardized as an extremist term and one that brings to mind a bunch of old fuds that are planning to overthrow the government. I am ALL FOR getting together in your community and training. Preparedness, self defense, etc. as a team is outstanding and should be part of everyones life.
