- Cassidy Beach was in Turks and Caicos when she discovered a message in a bottle from nearly 20 years ago. Turns out, the bottle was thrown off a fishing boat in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Pennel Ames wrote more than 500 letters and stuffed them into bottles which he tossed into the ocean off the coast of Nantucket in the early 2000s. Over the years, more than 80 people have responded to his messages in a bottle.
500 bottles?? Dude you were taking this too seriously back then and literally polluting the ocean. A few bottles tops would have been enough!
Relax its glass...its not plastic lmao
It was suddenly way less cool that someone found the 20 year old bottle from him when you learn he's chucked over 500 into the ocean lol
Glass doesn't cause pollution. There is no chemical leaching of glass.
dont rain on his parade bro 😐
500 bottles into the water and yet Inside Edition decided they needed him to throw one more in to show us how a bottle hits the water. 🤦🏼♂️
Wow 20 years and finding the person who wrote it is so heart warming ❤ I hope he doesn’t do that anymore now because it pollutes the ocean
Such a heartwarming story about filling our oceans with garbage and for what, the potential of entertainment of someone replying back to his pointless messages? A whale or another sea animal could have and may have swallowed one of these bottles and possibly suffered and died as a result.
@@kevincooper8232 I agree. I hope he doesn’t do it anymore
I was expecting a bottle to be centuries old but nope, a guy just littering the ocean with spam
LOL!
🤣🤣🤣…my thoughts too
So it's not littering the ocean if someone did the same thing centuries ago? Sound logic.
@@bbbean it’s the same thing, cept now people know better, plus we have the internet bruv
lmao wow
Wow! That is amazing after 20 years it is still in good condition. I'm glad they had form friendship but I hope the old man would stop throwing bottles in the ocean.
at least it's not plastic
Throwing 100 bottles in the ocean is like you throwing a plastic straw from a helicopter over NYC. It’s doing nothing to anything.
He is polluting and no one talks about it
Didn't you listen? They said he threw them in the early 2000s, so he's not throwing them anymore.
@kutter_ttl6786 ,he's throwing them now in front of the camera. He's wearing the same shirt the whole time. So no. He's littering and polluting now in frontof your eyes.
The only guy who gets exposed for his littering but doesn't get into trouble. Lmfao. You my friend may have influenced so many people to do this now. But there circumstances may land them into jail.
What a heartwarming story about filling our oceans with garbage.
i don’t think 500 glass bottles is going to affect earths 139 million square miles of ocean 🤷♂️
@@angelicafn8847Of course it affects the ocean. That's just one person's trash, it adds up.
Biodegradable trash tho
@@angelicafn8847it might affect the ocean by influencing people, though unintentional, to do the same.
It just glass and paper. Those things will turn into their particulate matter in a few years.
I miss the early 2000's, can't believe it was 20 years ago now.
Yes. I have a lot of good memories from that time. How time flies.
- Jesus loves all and wants to save all! Romans 10:9-10✌️
He should be charged for littering 😅
for what? littering with a glass bottle that's made from sand
@@AlainnCorcaighyeah everyone knows you just litter paper too because it’s made of trees. 🙄
I was thinking this was only 1 bottle. But 500? What the hell that's horrible
FR
they don't have tinder back then
That's literally nothing compared to the waste and pollution companies pump into the ocean on a daily basis. And it's just glass and paper (biodegradable.) Be glad it's not toxic sludge 😊 glass isn't leaching chemicals into the ocean like plastic, and if it breaks, the broken pieces edges will round out as they become weathered. The paper turns back into pulp and completely biodegrades.
didnt have@@ao2415
@@ao2415hahah you’re awesome
I’m not happy what the hell is going on? 500 bottles in littering the ocean 😢
Rich people throwing garbage in the ocean for their own entertainment. Go figure.
500 bottles?? That’s a lot of trash
glass is just sand
That's literally nothing in the grand scheme of things. You have absolutely no concept of how big the ocean is.
@@bbbean Yeah but it's still a lot of trash
He should be charged for littering and added on fines for the amount of years it took for the bottles to be located and properly thrown away.
When glass is left in the natural environment, it is less likely to cause pollution than plastic. Unlike plastics, which break down into microplastics that can leach into our soils and water, glass is non-toxic.
@@Space_ace273 still he set an example that anyone and everyone can do it. It’s garbage behavior and principles
Gotta suck the fun out of everything, don’t you? This man alone is not destroying the environment… only 10% of plastic is actually recycled.
500 bottles? Man still hasn't outgrown his childhood fantasies.
Nothing like polluting the ocean on bottles that never get found.
Polluting the ocean with melted sand?
@@CanadianSpeedster Glass bottles mr canadian.
@@ediekoller1144 natural sand melted down makes glass …
O i did not have my thinking cap on sorry for the error of my stupidity!
@@ediekoller1144 😉
It's a pretty cool story, especially since the bottles travelled so far to different places. But at the same time, I'm just thinking that he's littering in the ocean and a poor whale could've accidentally eaten one of those bottles
I was thinking the same that he shouldn't be littering..
Littering the ocean bro
it’s cute when a kid does it once but bro’s too old for littering all those bottles
I thought it was only going to be 1 bottle, but thinking he threw 500!!! THAt IS NOT that RARE
I have two problems one is littering and two is Wales is not England I know it’s a common mistake but Wales is a country
Such a heartwarming story about filling our oceans with garbage and for what, the potential of entertainment of someone replying back to his pointless messages? A whale or another sea animal could have and may have swallowed one of these bottles and possibly suffered and died as a result.
So what your saying is you littered 20 years ago and your trash washed up on our shore thanks bud
No, the bottles were glass. He recycled them.
He should be charged for littering in the ocean
The bottles were glass, he recycled them.
Still can't believe 2000s is 20 yrs ago
Same... We getting old...
It's a whole lot less impressive when you find out he did it 500 times.
I Know it’s romantic and at least it’s glass bottles not plastic bottles, but either way it’s illegal dumping in the ocean. And 500!?
Lol, then he gets a ticket for littering in the mail. 😅
Finding person who wrote that is amazing
How many did he get back and when did he receive his first callback?
"Hey mom, im gonna go hang out with that guy who threw that note in a bottle off a boat that told me to go find him". Lolol jokes aside what a cool story, I'm sure he had no idea he would get so many responses and make so many people feel like old world adventurers finding treasure
You ruined it
@@shemorhenry18 Nah, the people crying about littering did.
He's a real life rpg quest giver.
Once I threw a message in a bottle. Dad found it and beat my ass for drinking his wild turkey and littering the hot tub 🤔
When you drink 500 bottles of champagne I guess you don't give a damn where you throw them! 😝
How is this not considered littering? 😅
Because it’s glass, which is made from sand, therefore this is recycling since he returned the bottle back to where it originated from.
That's pretty insane
I throw glass bottles with fake treasure maps and all that. all the time. I still do it every time I go on a boat. 😂
Be like "Treasure in North Korea" lol
Yes and I lifted your fingerprints off that bottle and now I printed off 100’s of treasure maps with your location from fingerprints.

stop ocean littering
This man is a serial litterer. I hope he is charged
Did this way back 2008 when i was on ship.
I like how everyone in the comments is pretending to actually care about the environment. But could care less about actually doing any environmental cleanup.
If everyone threw 500 bottles into the ocean?! Omg. This is stupid
We have a confession for littering. Prosecute this man!
Wow man admitted to littering 500 times.....
Recycling actually. The bottles were glass, not plastic.
The Police has done so much damage since they released that song
🐝 🚓
I can tell you that wasn’t 20 years ago I was born in January of 2004 and I’m 19 this bottle was dated September 2004 meaning it was casted 8 months after I was born and seeing as we aren’t even at September 30th yet;the bottle was actually casted 18 years ago and won’t be 20 year until next September
This is why their is sooo much trash in our oceans..🌊
😮What a shame...😮
Let's celebrate how much this man litters the ocean.
You mean recycles, the bottles were glass.
Did anybody else notice the creep looking up the stairs where the girl was being interviewed? 😂
So Cool 😊
A couple is cool but 500, heck no that’s too much. This video will make this guy famous for throwing trash in the ocean lol
He didn’t throw trash in the ocean tho 🤔 He recycled glass by returning it to the environment in which it came from.
Can we arrest this man for littering 🙄
No, the bottles were glass so this is actually recycling.
Polluting?
Recycling, the bottles were glass.

DUDE 500 TF
Pretty cool
I carve my messages into car batteries
Bro is mass-producing these things lol.
That’s about as slow as my mail service
Let’s not keep throwing bottles in the damn ocean 🥴
Instead of attacking individuals who throw a literal negligible amount of glass (non polluting) into the ocean, try going after the companies that pump literal tons of garbage, plastic, and toxic sludge into the ocean on a daily basis. These 500 bottles made absolutely no impact on the ocean.
That was not 20 years ago, that was 19 years ago. 10/27/23.
So he tossed 500 bottles --so he littered and we give him an applause 🤦♂️
Wow😄🍾
Cool
Really?! Wonder if the other 420 not recovered killed any marine life!

It's like this man uses messages in bottles as a Messaging App saying "Will you be my friend?".
