It’s 2024 and I’ve been playing since the public beta in 2007. Well 99% of the time I’m just dipping in and doing Middle Earth tourism but every couple of years I dig in and get caught up. But there’s not a week that goes by that I don’t log in for some music and scenery. So much nostalgia by now and I can’t imagine what it’ll feel like in 20 years if they keep the servers going.
Still by far the best MMO ive ever played, everything was just perfect back in the day. the landscapes, soundtracks and an unforgetable community. (laurelin server).
you should have a look at the echoes of angmar private server that is getting ready to launch soon. It's a restoration of the original lotro content, up to book 11, a true 'vanilla' lotro experience. They've held several beta events and are getting ready to move to an open/persistent beta soon.
I still play occasionally. I got lost in this world, the music so melancholy and beautiful. It was my first MMO, I was mesmerized by the game and it's still dear to my heart. Finding my way to Rivendell was my courageous adventure and so rewarding when I arrived at the beautiful place.
+Tika Tiger You must not have found the right route. You have to avoid the broken bridge at Kazadum and try to go slow to find the way by the cliffs. Once you found the right way, it's quite easy. There is not a lot of mobs along the way. It's quite an experience finally making it through Moria and seeing the light for the first time! Good luck!
My husband plays lotro pretty much since it was release in 2007. We used to spend sundays at home, while i was cooking or cleaning with this music in the back. Happy days! He lives in the U.S. now while we are here waiting for our visas. Sometimes i miss him so much, and then i come here to listen, it makes me feel better.
The music in this game is beyond incredible. It takes me back to when I first started playing 5 years ago. Oh, the memories. LOTRO, you will always have a place in my heart long after the game servers have shut down.
+Shadow 827 And that's just to get there playing casually. That doesn't include the probably 150 hour grind to get the best gear. Only reason I still play is to explore middle earth my self, with the landscape being very accurate lore-wise.
I started playing this game just in January 2019. I can't say exactly why but that unique atmosphere it literally captured me. The music is so well composed, beautiful and enchanting, it really calms my soul and I just love to work while listening to its vibes by earphones.
@@plaza8470 oh wow so I remember where I was sitting when I typed this comment, but I can't quite recall what I was studying for... I did well in all my classes that semester so I assume it went well! :)
I made it in 2009, I feel you ! The nostalgia is very strong ^^ Met lots of great people and had so many cool moments there. I think about coming back to it, but I'm not sure if I can do it anymore. It's not the same and neither am I...
The Lone Lands music always gives me misty eyes, reminding me of Candaith and his stand. His epilogue had me pause everything I was doing for hours. I didn't level, I didn't do anything. All i did was stand there with the Grey Company and mourn. I love this MMO so much with its picturesque atmosphere and amazing music. The stories were told just right...
Game is more alive than ever these days. Mordor is coming, turbine got the fuck out and standing stones announced that lotro will be on for many more years.
My favorite song is Autumn Ale. I had had some personal problems (deaths in farmily) and was stressed beyond belief. I began spending 30 mins in Lotro before work and was riding from Kings Crossing toward Fornost and this music began. I just rode around there exploring each morning for a while. Now it's the music in my house in Belfalas. :)
It's been almost 13 since I first set my foot in middle earth. I've stopped playing since 4 years now but I want to get back to start all over from the beginning. I know it won't feel the same but I can at least go back to my favourite places. This game has been my teen years. So many memories
If i had to choose 1 game to play FOREVER... It would be lotro. No doubt. Its very rough with skyrim but this game has too many things to do... I love it
Lotro Music is a real one. Its not just to "follow the blanks" in the game, its part of the mood itself! Its good enough to be heard without playing, congrats to the composer!
We are going to the Black Gate within the next week and then there is a new expansion pack coming in the summer. Mordor. We are finally going to clean our Mordor and see the ring getting dropped into Mt. Doom..
Definitely my favourite game, huge fan of LOTR here. Love wandering through the woods of Far Chetwood, Nen Harn and occasionally the North Downs with its amazing music
The lone lands song melts me. Spent so much time there during closed beta way back when and all the way through till I stopped playing in 2012. Such an amazing game. I miss playing it dearly. Too many changes ruined the game for me, it's not the game it was during the Mines of Moria days and before. The music is the only thing that has consistently drawn me back, and the memories. Otherwise, all the changes, just no. RIP LOTRO... The LOTRO I knew, not the one that cheated on me to be garbage.
I know. I played for a long time, but that was a long time ago. Now, the sub is too much money, and you have to pay for pretty much everything. I love the music, especially the lone lands and the bree music. If you ever go back, you should at least have premium.
I could never get on with lotro, I think because of the lack of PvP. I grew up playing DAoC. But one thing I do remember was the music and scenery, I think it was the first MMORPG with realistic (for the time) looking skyboxes.
I have been listening to this video so much that I can even remember which songs go after another. Thanks Zelus for such a compilation, I don't usually make comments on youtube, however I think this deserves it.
I played this game four years ago and have recently started again. I really love it, even though I keep falling off places and have difficulty fighting now. The way the game is built with its landscape and so on is very realistic and that's what I like.
+Serbiansoull The new regions like Rohan and Minas Tirith have become graphically more beautiful/detailed, I needed to buy more RAM to make it run smoother.
Ik this is really late, but... The reason it is so hard to run the later areas in this game is not really because of the old engine. It's because of the fact that the developers have to use loads of props (especially grass, flowers and stuff) to make the game look good despite it's ols graphics, which gets really heavy for the processor. Pair that with the fact that this is a game where the processor is under heavy load from all the other information it has to load and you get quite a bit of lag and stuttering... At least that's what I think is the reason...
and I don't want it to last for decades....I want them to give up the license and let another Studio create an even better, more realistic ME....with a new game engine....won't happen if Standing Stone Games still has the license...
@@rf7192 Sorry, I don't agree. The Devs at SSG are the ones who created Lotro and who gave it the heart and soul it still has. It's not perfect, but it's still a great game and that is all due to the devs who are in charge.
