There is no doubt Wonderland Sydney will be part of my childhood memories forever and I absolutely loved Wonderland Sydney Theme park and i absolutely Missed it. I will be forever grateful that I went there on two occasions with my family
Thanks for making this video. So sad that the last owners let it run down and closed it. I went as a kid in 1992 and loved it. Went again in 2002 and noticed that the park was much more run down and sad looking.
This makes me so sad. We has yearly passes when i was a kid & teenager & it was probably my fave place to visit. Due to issues i had at school, Australia's wonderland was 1 place i could let loose, enjoy myself, have fun amongst other kids. I never knew the details of its downfall though. I do remember the closing day, i remember sitting at a desk at tafe wishing a miracle would happen to save it that day because i really wanted to go on that last day but i had an exam. Its heart-breaking to see beloved childhood places disappear.
I was at the opening of Australia's Wonderland, seeing this brought back so many memories and was quite depressing to see how it was destroyed by a greedy corporation.
never been to australias wonderland but i love canadas wonderland i think they made a huge mistack not leting paramount by this park they would have keeped it in business and so would cedar fair have when cedar bought paramount in 2007
It's so sad. It's depressing. Sega World? Brutally demolished. Wonderland? This video gives the right vibe about whole situation. Industrial buildings and gray, zombie lives? Money is the only thing that matters? Yeah, that's the future apparently.
The Bush beast was so unsafe towards the end.. everytime I went on it I thought this might be my last ride but that was part of the fun.. the demon wasn't as good.. you'd wait 60mins to go on a 2min ride... I remember when they opened wonderland at night we would drink liquor and pop molly and run a muck.
I’ve just binged all your abandoned videos and although I was a bit too young for sega world I’m the right age for all the others to hit the right spots nostalgically, I grew up in Western Sydney so I went to wonderland often. Thank you for covering my childhood essentially, such a shame Sydney is so bland and boring now. Also it was so awesome hearing you mention Penrith in another video!
the good thing about this place was you could get a wonderpass which gave you entry for the whole year. The bad thing was everything inside the park cost a fortune so you would bring your own food. The lines for the good rides were pretty long though.
The Prick was located out of reach of the average Sydneyit. Shit transport with no regular buses. 2 hours between buses from Fairfield Westbus had 4 out & in a day. The buses from Blacktown & Rooty Hill were not much better. So, if you wanted to have an evening out there and take Public there wasn't any for a very long time.
This makes me want to cry a very early memory of mine was waiting to be tall enough to ride space probe and once I did it was a day I'd never forget amazing just like the video it had the great entrance with fog and everything almost scared me not to go on haha. And the pirate ship always wondered why I couldn't find it at other theme parks it was always my favourite. I really miss wonderland 😪
I still have a Muttley plushie I got from here, which I got between 12 - 15 and am now 31 I recall when going to Sydney that time we went on the Sydney monorail and to the Sega world
I went there a few times they used to even put on great concerts even international remember seeing Jeremey Jorden whos hit was Right kind of love 1992
Me: Why Sunway? Why did you close this place when it was at the height of it's popularity? Sunway:...............Well the chart says- Me: I'm not asking the charts, I'm asking you. Sunway:..................Well the chart says- Me: YOU ARE EVERYTHING THAT IS WRONG WITH ENTERTAINMENT!!!
Very nostalgic watching this. We lived at Blacktown and visited Wonderland most wkeds (we had Wonder Passes). Was sad to see it close but so many good memories.
Great story.. I grew up going to this place and have fantastic photos and memories from that fantastic place , It should have stayed open and all help to make that happen ! I’m 44 years old and still talk about this place and how good it was and there’s nothing else like this nor comes close with the water park (the beach ) and all those rides , food and entertainment and all under one roof .....sadly missed 🥺❤️
I've a photo of my family on the demon that we purchased after the ride back in 93 and its sad it failed but I can say atleast , I got to have that brilliant experience
Looking at oldschool parks with the hills and trees in the background that looks like your average country farmland looks so surreal for some reason. Abandoned parks and locations feel so strange in general.
So many good memories of the place, from going there with family as a kid to going there on dates or hanging out with the boys as a teen. In the right hands it could of still been a special place and a much beloved landmark in Sydney, and I'd probably still be going but now with my own family. Cheers for the video.
Thanks for the video dude. A lot of work has clearly gone into it and your footage is amazing. Just a word on your speech presentation, you need to slow your voice down. You're easy enough to understand but slowing down will help you articulate your words better and stop the "tripping over your tongue" stuff that's happening. Otherwise really good work man. Very much hope you continue
remember exploring this place, many times after it was shut down, and also went there as a kid when it was operating.. its sad to see its gone forever.
I don't know if people will remember this side to things also but I remember I was maybe 12 through to 14/15 and they used to hold events like Utopia and used to have different R&B and hip hop artists come and used to have dance parties on weekends afterhours sort of thing.. They were awesome and your friends from school and the girl you would like, and her friends and theuir friends and he's friends.. At that age you were trying to be cool and stuff and dress so you'd impress. You'd be worried if you could dance and all... It was hells scary but super fun.. On a side note I went to Wonderland when I was younger like 7/8 and my big brother went on the Bush Beast and thought he was awesome. My Mum said "you can go on the Beastie" I cried! I was such a coward.. I just balled my eyes out..
23:00 Considering Canadas Wonderland actually suffered greatly under paramount I think its fair to say Australia's Wonderland, a international park thats not even in the same continent and has much smaller population ,would be treated even worse than CW and would still be declining. Cedar Fair however would be an absolutely perfect owner. They would enjoy the opportunity to expand and possibly have a monopoly on a new Market and they take care of parks that have potential to them, which this would. Cedar Fair would try to save it and they would probably succeed given there experience.
The last time I went to Wonderland was a field trip as part of the 2001 Australian Scouts Jamboree. I went on the Bush Beast 10 times in a row and only stopped when I hurt my back. I never went on the Demon or Space Probe. I was too chicken.
Arhh, this brings back so many memories from my childhood. I was fortunate enough to go there every weekend due to my stepfather being a part of the construction team. He nearly broke his leg when building the "Bush Beast" as he'd slipped down and ended up hanging by his legs on one of the beams. I was going there since it's grand opening and had a yearly pass, so every day was a fun day when going there. From 1985 to 1986, I would venture every weekend until I left high school. I did go again around 1988, but it just wasn't the same. It's such a shame because it was one of the best places to visit. The rapid river rides was my favourite ride.
Bruh, Six Flags should buy Australia’s Wonderland from Sunway and call it Six Flags Australia’s Wonderland or Six Flags Sydney. And Hanna Barbera Land would be Bugs Bunny National Park.
Alabama Adventure is now Alabama Splashdown Adventure and still open. The First time I visited ,the coaster know as the Demon was in pieces . A few years latter s, it was build but not running
We use to go to Wonderland every year for my Dads work Christmas Party. I remember going to Hannah Barbera land as a smaller kid and then as a teenage going to the Demon and the Bush Beast and the Snowy River rampage.
The thing is our politicians care more about setting up their own future investments. If they cared about us the voters a little more they wouldn’t need to waste so much of our money 💵 on stupid hate campaigns leading up to elections every time. Good vid 👍🇦🇺
they problably wish paramount bought australias wonderland now it probably would have still been here like canadas wonderland in my country is a cedar fair probably would have keeped it in business to
I went there for my 11th birthday in 1986 and went back many times as a teenager during school holidays. My favourite memories include special events they had there with concerts and performances by international singers and groups that were popular at the time. Absolutely loved it when I was old enough to spend the whole day and night there running around with friends.
I went to wonderland in 2003 just before it closed I guess ! I live on the GC but was on a holiday in Sydney when I went to wonderland . This is so sad also very interesting as I can see Dreamworld has copied a lot from Wonderland which I thought it was the other way around ! Great video ! Still watching , just had to comment
isn't the gold coast called the theme park capital of australia because there's five theme parks? it's not just because of dreamworld. also, movie world is pretty damn good. edit: how long has sea world been around for? i forget.
I kick myself for not going to it since I arrived in 96. Never dreamed that such a thing would occur! I still have Canada's Wonderland to fall back on when I come to visit my family though and thankfully they continue to thrive
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"

Kind of expensive to visit Australia's parks. Last time I went to the Gold cost was as a teenager. Was fairly young when I went to wonderland so I don't really remember it. Closed not long after.
I visited Australia's Wonderland in 1992. Having grown up on a farm in the sticks, it was the most amazing day of my childhood life.
I was lucky enough to go there in 93 and its really sad to know its demise. The bush beast and demon were awesome
There is no doubt Wonderland Sydney will be part of my childhood memories forever and I absolutely loved Wonderland Sydney Theme park and i absolutely Missed it. I will be forever grateful that I went there on two occasions with my family
What sort of music was played at Wonderland?
I wish i could go :/
Same here, went there last time when I was 13. Closed about a year later.
Thanks for making this video. So sad that the last owners let it run down and closed it. I went as a kid in 1992 and loved it. Went again in 2002 and noticed that the park was much more run down and sad looking.

Matt H SUNWAY DOGS
It's kind of depressing going on the road now and the whole place is just industrial buildings. It isn't interesting at all.
It is about time someone covered this.
There are many videos on this place, but haven't found many like this. Wanted to do this one for a while though.

Is wonderland still dead even in 2021?
The Bush beast was so unsafe towards the end.. everytime I went on it I thought this might be my last ride but that was part of the fun.. the demon wasn't as good.. you'd wait 60mins to go on a 2min ride... Went there twice. Once on a school excursion and once taken by my older sister. The Bounty's Revenge was so terrifying and fun at the same time

I love how they had a thong store right next to the spaceprob, as your shoes would fly off and go over the fence.

We used to ride our push bikes there stash em in the bush and sneak in for free in the 90s great times I miss it so much
So sad 😞 i loved Wonderland as a child. Any update on a new Wonderland being built?
I still have a Muttley plushie I got from here, which I got between 12 - 15 and am now 31

Never heard of that one. May do some research but hopefully I have time to do that in the future.

Yes, much nostalgia
Was at only Sydney town not long ago
Yes
Spider-Man’s accent is shit LMAO
Great story..
I grew up going to this place and have fantastic photos and memories from that fantastic place , It should have stayed open and all help to make that happen !

I remember the Wiggles performed at Australia's Wonderland in 1997
What about doing a documentary on Magic Kingdom, which used to be in Lansvale? Used to consider it as the poor persons amusement park...
i love wonderland history. went there for over five years from 4 to 8.
it was my disney land
i love and miss u wonderland
What sort of music was played at Wonderland?
Nicely done especially as it contains some historical context not just pretty pic...
If they build a new 1😕it won't be the same, it wont have the same feel, same atmosphere about it. That part of wonderland is gone forever.
Who else got scared when someone turned the wheel inside on the zodiac 😱
I think I went in 95-96 and it was the greatest day of my childhood.
remember exploring this place, many times after it was shut down, and also went there as a kid when it was operating.. its sad to see its gone forever.
I used to love going there every Weekend as I had a Wonderpass was so good so much fun
I fly over where wonderland used to be, i wish i could of seen it in action
I took our 5 children here, and we all had a great time. It topped up our holiday ❤️
The proposal for Wonderland 2.0 is that ever going to happen???
Sydney always has the annual Royal Easter Show.
I don't know if people will remember this side to things also but I remember I was maybe 12 through to 14/15 and they used to hold events like Utopia and used to have different R&B and hip hop artists come and used to have dance parties on weekends afterhours sort of thing.. Seeing this video in my feed has made my day
Sunway. Subway. Get it?
I miss this park. It was the only fun in my childhood other than Nelsons Bay.
Man, the background music is so distracting
I got to visit this park in 1999 when travelling to Sydney from New Zealand, good memories
What a wonderfully nostalgic & informative video on our long lost Australia’s Wonderland 💗 🙌🏽🔥 well done 👍🏽
I watch your channel, fancy seeing you here lol
These 5 year old kids would be in there 40s or 30s at the moment
I'm one of em 😎
Nice dude my dream is to have one ride on the demon
Great video, amazing job!

Oh The good old Demon 😞 I feel your pain Jodie I lived near wonderland
Bruh, Six Flags should buy Australia’s Wonderland from Sunway and call it Six Flags Australia’s Wonderland or Six Flags Sydney. And Hanna Barbera Land would be Bugs Bunny National Park.
The sound was dreadful ... sorry ! It was hard to understand you at times
OH&S prevents any future parks in Australia
Visited here in 1987 when I went to live in Australia for a year, had an absolute blast. Loved Ned Kelly's Getaway.
Wish the Compere wouldn't gabble gabble - hard to understand
$5 to ride all day?!?!?! Jfc, these days you're looking at over $100 to ride all day at luna park.
I was definitely born into the wrong era
Alabama Adventure is now Alabama Splashdown Adventure and still open.
The First time I visited ,the coaster know as the Demon was in pieces .
A few years latter s, it was build but not running
We use to go to Wonderland every year for my Dads work Christmas Party. I remember going to Hannah Barbera land as a smaller kid and then as a teenage going to the Demon and the Bush Beast and the Snowy River rampage.
Went there on an excursion in 2003.
Used to be able to see the rides from easturn creek race track grand stand.

Loved this place .
I took my boy there a few times but they shut down before he was big enough to enjoy many of the rides. I miss it.
Great vid mate. I used to loved going to Wonderland, great memories!
they problably wish paramount bought australias wonderland now it probably would have still been here like canadas wonderland in my country is a cedar fair probably would have keeped it in business to
Watched most of your videos's, You should see if you can do a tv series for australian tv. i would watch it.

I went to Wonderland four times, every time the Bush Beast was closed for maintenance.
Wow if I were alive the time I would of have been happy riding those rides they all look soo fun!
" its all bullshit malaysian new owners saw it as a " 💰 tree 🌳 for its " land value ( made huge profits land value to sell ! )
All the good things are gone from Sydney 😢
I have great memories of wonderland, had a yearly pass was the place to go on weekends 😁
So sad the kids of today have nothing to look forward to other than a video game in their bedroom
isn't the gold coast called the theme park capital of australia because there's five theme parks? it's not just because of dreamworld. also, movie world is pretty damn good. edit: how long has sea world been around for? i forget.
The Gold Coast only good for keeping the fuckheads out of Brisbane.
Wait, an abandoned park in Australia? Cool, a place I can actually get to-
*gets to **1:12*
*hears Team Fortress 2 music playing in background*
I can tell this video's gonna be good
why was it closed were people having to much fun
Overseas people don't know what we Aussies want.
Mate they never even built the new wonderland
I remember space probe. Oh shit, is what I yelled
$5 after 5pm was our highlight in high school.
I kick myself for not going to it since I arrived in 96. Never dreamed that such a thing would occur! I still have Canada's Wonderland to fall back on when I come to visit my family though and thankfully they continue to thrive
Evwy things intimate at vis feme park.
Is that a Wangan Maximum Tune 3 song in the beginning??
Great Video --- Shared / Scheduled
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !"
Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam."
Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!"
Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..."
Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!"

Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction."
Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
I remember the rope bridge✌️that was great.
Use to work there. Loss Prevention 😅
Does someone know the song in the 10 minute mark? It sounds like something from Dream Theater, but I don't think it is. Thank you for this video by the way, brought back many childhood memories.
In respect to Wonderland's downturn and ultimate closer I think you can draw a parable with the Bellevue Fun Park in Manchester, England.
Love these videos, thank you.
Lived at Wonderland every weekend back from when the Wonderpass was $40 up intill it went to $80-$100. Was way over priced and as in the video, Fuck all new rides.
sunway owes us wonderland
loved the bush beast, first ever Roller coaster i went on. Luna park was ok but not as close as wonderland, did enjoy Sega land at DARLING HARBOR though.
Thanks for this video @sirlaptop! You mentioned that Zodiac was sold to a Malaysian amusement park, Sunway Lagoon. Do you have more information, or a source you could cite? I'm trying to track down if that ride was every installed, or just scrapped.
Kind of expensive to visit Australia's parks. Last time I went to the Gold cost was as a teenager. Was fairly young when I went to wonderland so I don't really remember it. Closed not long after.
If an amusement park doesn't have something new and massive at least every second season - it can't survive.
I she'd a tear had some great family moments
