As someone from the Caribbean, you'd be surprised, but Eel is quite tasty, like a good steak of fish, meatier, and very nice! We're surrounded by the ocean so most things we eat from the sea. Honestly, try it at least once.
Eels are so delicious. I HATE fish. I dont eat fish and avoid them, but eels are the only one i like. Any other fish made me vomit excet for eels. When buying sushi, i only eat the non fish ones and eels/unagi. Eels arent slimy when theyre cooked. Japanese way of cooking eels/unagi are favourite.
Speaking of food and cultures and so on.. You should checkout some video from "The Dusgustin Food Museum" in Malmö, Sweden. I'm sure you'll find a decent one with some english speaking person in it.
Grilled eel taste pretty much like fish but honestly forget about jellied eels always go for grilled 😂

Honestly grilled eel is delicious. When eel is on a menu here in NC I’ll order it.

They don't eat eel live. They show it to you live to show it is fresh then they go cook it.
Might be some parts they eat raw, but even eels for sushi are cooked.
