This dropped one day after I got mine installed! I found penetrating oil very handy for removing the o-ring connections in the block and turbo. Also, I drained the coolant from the furthest rear coolant line, lost about 1.5 gallons.
And, wise to others watching; penetrating oil on the manifold nuts first and definitely a good idea to have new studs, and an e-torx 6 just in case the studs still come with the nut so you can separate them if needed.

Just completed this method with a flow max. Worst part is putting the bolt through the 2 coolant lines. What a total pain that was. Thanks for the invaluable vid!

As I am watching and enjoying this great video I noticed the tatty. AWESOME!!!! Wow. SO much easier than the N54. You could do this job in a days shift or even less for an experienced person.

@wethomas3 yes, m5 has the ZF8HP70 I believe. 340i only gets the ZF8HP50
Is the first gen b58 worth it to get compared to the 2nd? Up in Canada you can get a used f30 340i for about half the price as a new g20

WOuld like to see 0-30 times, for drivability. Generally you lose lowe end and responsiveness with larger turbos.
Not with the pure800. It's the OEM turbo bored out and given different internals/turbines to increase flow. Yes, it's a tiny bit more laggy, but I'd say it's negligible, though I have mine installed for 2 days now, pro tune on the 12th. We'll see!

Slightly off line question. I am about to do the downpipe on my B58 switching to a boost logic. Should I be replacing that metal ring gasket that you did for the turbo upgrade? I don't think I had one in my package
Generally u should replace it but as long as you haven’t damaged it at all it should be fine
Could you also do a turbo upgrade for a B48 in the G20

4000ish. It's laggier than stock but not terribly.
Can you lube the coolant line o rings with oil or how do you lube them up?
Coolant works well.
When pure installed is it good to replace the oem intercooler or they are prety good

How hard is this job for an average person? I just installed twin turbos on my 335i n54 that was pretty hard to do on jack stands in a garage. I want a 340 one day though and will probably do this at home as well.

How many hp is it going to make ? I have a m135i xdrive,and i am thinking in upgrading the turbo :)
Atleast 550-600 hp on e85 on the pure800. But pump gas wise like low 500 hp.
What’s included when you add a pure install kit with the turbo? Is that the o-rings and new hardware?
Downpipe gasket, all new O-rings for turbo lines, manifold gasket, new manifold nuts and finally the mounting bracket bolts where the manifold sits in, which I did not replace on mine. Very complete kit.

what's the point of all these mechanical parts and complexity? an ICE has 2000 moving parts compared to 20 in an electric engine and the model 3 can do 0-60 in 3.4 secs for godsakes lololol
Model 3 is for soccer mums and people who like going in a straight line. No audible experience, no car feel. Feels like driving a 3.4 sec Camry. Pass
Clearly a millennial here. Let me explain. First the model 3 performance is an 11.7-11.8 1/4 mile car. I’ve seen quite a few real world tests. These cars with awd sand b58 can do 10’s with a few mods. That’s night and day. Furthermore the b58 sounds great the Tesla makes no sound. Sound is very much a part of a race cars driving experience… no sound and it’s rather boring and I dont care how good it accelerates we have more senses than nerves in our butts. Lastly, and thus ties into what I just said, we like to tune our motors whether that’s a new turbo, exhaust, intake, etc that’s part of the fun. With an ice car the options are much less compromised. Want to make 1,000 hp sure you can build that. One thing you electric fanatics seem to forget is that gasoline has about 50x the energy density as the best lithium ion battery. What that means is that if you want to go anywhere the car will weigh much more usually in the neighborhood of 1,000 lbs more compared to its ice counterpart. So, while you talk about the electric motors being wonderful and they are to an extent batteries frankly suck!
