this is exactly why I follow you Laini!!! The point you made of following influencers who re-wear their clothing is SO IMPORTANT. I feel like I know your closet and yet, your outfit ideas always seem so fresh and new! It really helps me put into perspective just how many ways you can style something without it getting boring.
Fashion is art, as someone who also likes to do other forms of art I love the idea of finding inspiration in everyday random things, also giving yourself "prompts" like the cosplay idea or using a specific color palette. I have always noticed I'm the most creative when I give myself a "box" to fit in, so it's not too overwhelming but not so rigid that it is straight up copying someone else.
Am I the only one who didn't know your name is Elaina?? I saw it on the notification and was shocked :0 shocked because I've been following you since before the pandemic
The first tip seems so obvious but I remember when I found Inso with items I already have and how much easier it all seemed. I also find that it helped me have a better idea of what to wear when looking at my closest while getting ready.
People in the anime community have been doing “casual cosplay”for so long! Essentially what you described when you talked about costumes and uniforms..Helps me create such cute outfits :•)
re: your "costume party" tip, last halloween I saw someone do a "lazy" cowboy costume by wearing real spurs on their doc martens and it has stuck with me ever since. An incredible look, 10/10.
I love how REALISTIC YOU ARE UGH other RUclipsrs are out here pretending they are creating everything from nothing. Everything is inspired by SOMETHING and this is prob my fave video of urs!!! 🤍
There are channels on youtube that are just people watching in different cities around the world. They do tend to focus on the shopping districts of those places so the outfits are maybe not truly “in the wild”, they’re likely to be people who are making a conscious curation of their outfits because they’re out shopping …. But there is a lot of just people clearly on their way to or from work and such. Just out walking their dog …. I love them. I love people watching in general but for fashion inspo in particular. And ya, Pinterest is just a glorious never ending rabbit hole. I recently got onto these detached ruffled collars and cuffs. Which led to cravats and crazy ways to wear scarves and ties. But I can’t stop thinking about those detached ruffled collars!! So dramatic. So pretty. So unique!! I love it when that happens. When you find something you’d never have thought of or have never seen anyone wearing.
I would love to know your thoughts on always having a wishlist and how you balance having a constant fashion wishlist with being satisfied with what’s in your closet. I love my closet but I’m still always wanting more! I even took a break from looking at clothes online and haven’t bought new clothes in a month but the feeling and wishlist is still there. I know both can coexist but im struggling with how. currently my biggest fashion struggle!
I love your thought process! Really changed my view towards consumerism and fashion in general ❤ you're a rare diamond, thank you for focusing on sustainability and practicality in your videos 😊
The thing about other people seeing our pieces for the first time and probably feeling how we felt about it the first time we saw it has changed my world
The points you make at the end of the video -- about buying what you want to buy, living your own life, creating content you want to create. Thank you for sharing those thoughts and I think they need to be said, re-said, and re-said until people release their grip from this weird "proving ourselves" era of social media, where everyone has to be loud about their opinion in other people's opinion spaces. I hope everyone can learn to relaaaaax. Anyway, thanks. Great video as always. :)
My mum asked me what’s fashionable a few months ago and I said Uniqlo in real life, but bows and sexy office clothes on the internet 😆 I live in a big city and hardly ever see anyone wearing online trendy things in real life.
Pls do the “costume” look book but I’d love to see what you wear to the zoo. I don’t have children yet and I am at our zoo so often and for 21+ events there and I enjoy getting ready for those.
i love the ideia of dressing up as a "character" for the day! i usually go for like a cowgirl, a 70s detective or a 90s vampire it's so fun and it makes the process of putting the outfit together a lot easier actually, that's why i like to take inspo from aesthetics! it makes simple styles more fun by bulding a vibe around it
hi i never comment but i just wanna say ur videos have been so slay and hq and i can see all the work u put in, and on top of being a momma? Insane. ur the best xxxx
I'm so tired of hate bait fashion content!! The "cool girls" content is always just a reels of a girl wearing an average mismatched outfit and a bunch of comments saying is average. Also, because most people who make fashion content do it as a job, they don't actually dress for a "normal" job and "normal" events!! Fashion is fun, but I need it to be practical and adaptable to my "normal" life. That why I love your content, you talk about getting dresses and more idea based outfits, not only about specific aesthetics and trends
One thing I realized not so long ago, there are influencers that I like--I like as people and I like their style--but if their coloring differs widely from mine, or if their body type is very different from mine, I need to be careful in the looks I try to copy. One woman that I used to be inspired by is actually blonde and her coloring is quite different from mine, plus she's petite (I'm not). My fave influencer now is black, so lime green and hot pink look great on her, but those colors look like poop next to my skin tone :(
pigmamii is amazingggg, so intelligent. i’ve been wondering if you’d seen her before, and i’m excited you found her! love your thoughts and content too :)
The part about not just going to the link and buying something that you see an influencer wearing is important to me. I’ve purchased a few pieces that I was SO excited for but in reality have worn them each about one time and I can never figure out how to style them in a way that feels like me. My most worn and favorite clothes are always unique second hand pieces
I watch your videos even though I hate most of your outfits (I hope you get what I'm saying as I believe you like your outfits and are confident enough in them that my opinion really doesn't elicit a reaction lol) because I enjoy what you're trying to communicate to you audience. It's gotten so boring seeing all these people simply copy influencers' outfits to the t and trying to find full on copies of the items instead of trying to find "their" version of the item they liked. It's all sustainable fashion and then they get like 100 things for their tiktok haul. Sometimes we just have to look at our own closet and add things that will add quality instead of just quantity. Edit: I wrote this comment halfway through video and now I have to do my research about pigmami because we seem to have so much in common!
Same here, Laini's style is really not my thing, but just the fact that she obviously loves her clothes, keeps them for a long time an re-wears them... I actually get more inspiration from her than from pinterest, firstly because pinterest is often times too picture-perfect, and secondly because the way Laini thinks about her outfits are what makes her special. I'm so tired about all the trends and aesthetics and noone trying to be themselves anymore. Also noone seems to dress for real life? Laini is such a breath of fresh air.
This is such a different video than you would normally do but I would love if you did like a fashion/influencer deep dive i guess idk how to phrase it but like a video explaining the culture of the influencers and fashion and how’s that’s changed over time because you’ll always have a little tangent in your videos but you cut yourself off and I want to hear your thoughts!!
just a lil note besides the topic, the voice quality is a little low. it doesn't perform as well as other videos even in full volume. love your content
80/20. 80% of the time I dress for me and the occasion( work, errands, a date) The other 20% of the time I grab the first thing I see in my closet because IDGAF 😂 If someone likes it great if someone doesn’t… still DGAF. ✌️💫✨
I love emmas podcast but i agree, it reeeeally frustrates me how she rarely goes into real depth or follows through with the points she makes. But maybe that just not what her podcast is for, i also like to have it on as lovely background noise anyway, great for that :)

i feel so wrong but i just got inspired by my boyfriend's family going to a funeral and everyone's old time formal out of fashion outfits🤦🏼♀️
I fucking love this comment. Dw I get you lmaooo.
Lmao

LOVE the idea of being inspired by the color palette of a random house, that's so cute
Am I the only one who didn't know your name is Elaina?? I saw it on the notification and was shocked :0 shocked because I've been following you since before the pandemic
Lmao same such a pretty name though
I would be surprised if someone knew?
I knew.
Me too
i’ve also been following her forever and i think she mentioned it briefly in like one video haha

This channel has been such a breath of fresh air from everything else I've seen that are similar
lainii , you put so much life into fashion, we can really find inspo from random things around us and it fills me w sm joy
great tips! we should "explore" our closets more, take inspiration from the pieces we already have, and find new ways to style them.
I would love to know your thoughts on always having a wishlist and how you balance having a constant fashion wishlist with being satisfied with what’s in your closet. ugh same! it never ends
Laini is really the only fashion youtuber that inspires me without making me want to buy new stuff
needed my comfort creator rn
I hope you are doing ok and that whatever has you needing comfort gets better soon! Cheering you on!
highly anticipating the thrift guide!! that’s such a cozy type of video, like i’ve seen soo many. but from my fav youtuber 😭 yayayayay
I love your thought process! Really changed my view towards consumerism and fashion in general ❤ you're a rare diamond, thank you for focusing on sustainability and practicality in your videos 😊

laini giving us a reality check at the end of the video, she really does not care wtf we are doing and i love it !! so real
I agree about just writing down the vibe… been getting outfit inspo from characters in books for years!
The points you make at the end of the video -- about buying what you want to buy, living your own life, creating content you want to create. PLEASE do the outfits inspired by costumes !!! Such a good idea!!

Love the new version of intro🩷🩷
Real life! Inspiration be everywhere.

I totally resonate with the diamond stud story! My friend inspired my second piercing.
This makeup hair look is so good idk what you did different but I love it
I absolutely LOVE getting inspo from old movies. So so fun!
Me with my curly hair and giant green glasses that I’m so sick of 🥲
Omg I went on a walk a few days ago and did the exact same thing, looking at houses and their colour combos for inspiration!! Love your advice Laini!!
