Dilip Kumar was launched with his screen name in the movie Jwar Bhata (1944) produced under the Bombay Talkies banner.

A nice & interesting story on Yusuf Khan turning into Dilip kumar.. There are many things that go on in one's mind if one has to change his name, the overall identity takes a hit. During the early days of filmdom, there were very few persons & Devika Rani wss the unquestioned decision maker of the industry, as she was the owner of Bombay Talkies the only production company in the entire country which dealt in movies.
It was beneficial to both Dilip Kumar & the movie industry as Yusuf sahab did not want to disclose this to his father that he had become a film actor.

One correction Rahoul, Contrary to the popular perception, Dilip Kumar was not a Pathan but a Punjabi Awan.
But he has called himself Pathan in his autobiography 🤔
