    If plasma half life time is for any drug 2-6 hours then what can we say about this drugs action???

    Is plasma excreted from urine as you are saying plasma concentration decreases

      By "plasma concentration" here I mean concentration of any substance in plasma.

    If a drug is highly lipophlic can we say that plasma half-life of that drug is large compared to a less lipophlic drug since lipophlic drugs can distribute more and are harder to excrete ?

    • @NonstopNeuron
      @NonstopNeuron  Год назад +1

      Yes

    • @AyşeDemir-d4e
      @AyşeDemir-d4e Год назад

      @@NonstopNeuron but what makes me confused is that since it is highly lipophilic, shouldn't its concentration in the plasma decrease so does the plasma half life of that drug?

      @@NonstopNeuron also thank you so much for this quick reply

    • @NonstopNeuron
      @NonstopNeuron  Год назад +1

      Distribution half-life and elimination half life are two different half lives that we can find for a drug. I think you are confused between them. Distribution half life is usually shorter due to rapid initial distribution. You know what...! The thing you asked in the first comment has also got a special name, termination half life. Depending on the pharmacokinetic profile of the drug, these half lives may vary. I hope it helps.

    Half-life of extravascular tissue bound drug is relatively high ? Why

    • @NonstopNeuron
      @NonstopNeuron  Год назад

      Because they are bound to extravascular tissue (where they are not degraded)

    Can you pls make a video on half life vs duration of action of a drug

    • @NonstopNeuron
      @NonstopNeuron  3 года назад +1

      it's s very straight forward relationship. The longer the half life the longer the drug works.!!! unless of course it's a hit and run drug in which case the duration of action would be longer than what is predicted based on half life. humm... I see, we can compile multiple such examples. Will note down this suggestion.
