The Umpqua river years ago was famous for steelhead and salmon in large numbers, but thanks to ODFW for not rebuilding the one and only hatchery on this river system is a travesty for this once famous river.

The steelhead program on the sandy is far from a success. This is the lowest numbers I’ve seen in January in along time. They only spawn 70fish a year which is terribly low. The first batch of brood stock years ago was amazing but it’s not even close to what it was 10 15 20 and 30 years ago.

The only success for the sandy was the removal of the dam and that’s it the broodstock program could be a success everywhere but the Oregon department of failure and wast will only produce enough fish that will guarantee them money from the federal government we pay for hatcheries that run at full capacity we only get 2% don’t believe me go to the hatchery at ceder creek and see how many lanes have steelhead and how many don’t even have water

WTF is with the crappy heavy metal music? Jeezus. It's a real turn off.
