She got bit because she was flapping her hands in the water and when a shark goes hunting there prey will flap their tails as they swim,so if the shark sees something flapping in the water the shark goes “that’s an easy target to hunt down” so just don’t flap your hands especially in the ocean or they are coming for u. That looked like a nurse shark and they are lucky it is because they have small short teeth even though they are sharp it will not bite off a hand. Also at the end when it shows her hand it looks like it bit lightly and let go once it realized she is not a fish. If its a nurse shark, then its fine. Nurse sharks only hurt humans IF and only if provoked. If a shark sees a human splashing in the water, it may try to investigate, leading to an accidental attack.. Sharks have been known to attack humans when they are confused or curious. Nurse sharks attack only when they are provoked, or they dont want anyone in their territory. It will investigate if they are splashing in the water, so the kids have to stay calm. And i dont really see any blood on there. Nurse sharks typically If a nurse shark feels provoked, it will bite a person in self defense. It's teeth are too small to make a deep bite, but they are sharp enough that it will be very painful. So i dont see any blood on there. So that means shes fine.
Those sharks are probably hand fed, thankfully it was a nurse shark or that kid would probably be missing a hand. Respect apex predators, especially if you're invading their home.
I know someone who lost several fingers to a nurse shark. They have a reputation for being friendly and usually they are, but when they’re hand fed daily they begin to associate humans with food. That was exactly what happened to this person - there was a place near this dock in the Exumas where there would always be a bunch of nurse sharks and people would feed them, and then this person jumped into the water in that same spot, thinking they’d be chill. They probably just thought he had food or something, who knows. Decent size nurse shark, bit onto two of his fingers, spun around a few times. They were so torn up that the hospital just amputated what was left. I’ve swam with nurse sharks plenty of times further away from big feeding spots and it’s fine, they don’t even notice you’re there if you’re just over a sandy bottom somewhere and snorkeling around above them… but I definitely wouldn’t hop into the water in the same place they expect food every day.

It's teeth are too small to make a deep bite, but they are sharp enough that it will be very painful. So i dont see any blood on there. So that means shes fine.

Those sharks are probably hand fed, thankfully it was a nurse shark or that kid would probably be missing a hand. Respect apex predators, especially if you're invading their home.

I know someone who lost several fingers to a nurse shark. They have a reputation for being friendly and usually they are, but when they’re hand fed daily they begin to associate humans with food. That was exactly what happened to this person - there was a place near this dock in the Exumas where there would always be a bunch of nurse sharks and people would feed them, and then this person jumped into the water in that same spot, thinking they’d be chill. They probably just thought he had food or something, who knows. Decent size nurse shark, bit onto two of his fingers, spun around a few times. They were so torn up that the hospital just amputated what was left.
I’ve swam with nurse sharks plenty of times further away from big feeding spots and it’s fine, they don’t even notice you’re there if you’re just over a sandy bottom somewhere and snorkeling around above them… but I definitely wouldn’t hop into the water in the same place they expect food every day.

I want to dive with sharks. But the difference is I'm 57 not a child. Nurse sharks are usually very docile. But she reached out to either pet the shark or push it away, and the shark probably misunderstood the message from the child. No children under 16 should be allowed to be in the shark area.
